*DOOOOOOOOOOM*
The exact moment that Gideon sliced off Lin's ear, a horrifying pressure exploded out of her body and the two siblings were sent flying like ragdolls.
A light green aura engulfed an incomparably large area making the two seem like ants, no, they WERE ants, and Lin could kill them in an instant and they wouldn't even know how they died. She was the queen of elves, an incredibly powerful being who looks over millions of lives. At that moment, she had been angered and forgot that the two siblings were absolutely needed alive.
"Hmph." Even though he was bleeding from all his orfices, Gideon scoffed.
He didn't know why, but he felt utterly insulted after being reduce to such a miserable condition, moreover, when she commented about that being their limit, he sensed utterly no emotion in her voice. Even though he knew that someone of her level who would've killed countless living beings before. Even though he knew that she had absolutely no reason to feel any sympathy for them. He felt as if she had stomped on his pride. Victoria felt the same way.
They weren't exactly very proud, but what happened had ticked them off.
Gideon had begun to spin his daggers, and with the added boost of poison body, they centrifugal force reach insane heights and the buildup of energy along with the powerful poison flames, a scary combo was being created.
Victoria who was behind Lin was still in her purple empress mode was in a fighting stance. Her armour had now broken up to protect only her vitals and covered her fists. Her purple hair fluttered wildly and her gaze focused. She was in a slightly better state than Gideon since most of the pressure was directed at him, but her body still felt heavy, as if the gravity had increased. Nonetheless, her fighting intent had reached its peak.
"Sigh" Soft sigh escaped Lin's lips as her aura disappeared without a trace, much to Gideon and Victoria's surprise.
At that exact moment, the place where Lin's ear was wriggled and then in an instant, it grew back.
"I wouldn't be setting a good example if I got triggered from a little pain." Lin said flatly why the siblings subconsciously cancelled their skills.
"I can understand why you two are angry, but know that even though I'm meant to train you two, I do not feel any sort of attachment towards any of you, and I am not obligated to do so either." Lin said emotionlessly and as much as they hated to admit it, she was right.
"We will continue to get you guys to you limit until your tolerance increases, moreover, the constant destruction and reconstruction of your bodies will increase your natural defence." Lin stated and by this time, the duo had mostly calmed down.
"We are sorry." Gideon bowed deeply and apologized on the behalf of him and Victoria.
"Mm." Lin simply nodded slightly. In truth, she felt a bit embarrassed for reacting like that, but naturally, she didn't show it.
"Oh right." Gideon suddenly remembered and summoned his tamed beast Lisk who slithered around him the moment it got summoned.
"Lisk naturally has a better defence than us, something like this would benefit it greatly." Gideon stated and Lin showed a hint of surprise before nodding. By this time, Victoria was back to Gideon's side.
"Alright then..." Lin started as once again, hundreds of thousands of tiny razor like wind blades appeared around the now trio.
"Let's get started."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The training was hellish, to say the least. The trio would always be at the brink of death, and would experience and unearthly amount of pain before being in that state.
And then immediately after, they would be heed by the life tree, just for the onslaught of pain to come once again.
And the process was repeated over and over and over again. The only reason they hadn't lost their sanity was because they would receive a break after every ten-or-so rounds. But even with its intensity, their gains were evident.
First of all, after the fiftieth session, they noticed that the pain, although still horrible, was beginning to reduce. Moreover, their bodies had begun to become tougher and more durable.
And incredibly, Gideon and Victoria were using this as an opportunity to train!
After the pain had become bearable enough for them to actually think, they actually sat down cross legged and started to refine their astral cores through gritted teeth.
It was practically pointless at first since concentrating under those conditions was pretty much impossible, as time went on, I began to become easier until they were able to meditate with about 70% percent of their usual meditation speed when undisturbed. This time, Lin was quite shocked.
'It's only the third day, yet they can already stably meditate under these intense conditions, moreover, that snake can eat!' Lin thought in shock as she looked at the large snake that continued to digest the corpse of a dead beast that showed through its belly. This was its forth one, moreover, it's digestion speed was increasing.
'What is up with these monsters, and the actual monster is a monster among monsters!' Lin shouted in her mind as she looked at the three. Yet amidst her shock, she strangely felt proud.
'Maybe I can take these three as my disciples.' Lin thought as a slightly smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of earth were in a unique situation.
In a large field, thousands of beasts and humans could be seen, training together.
Yes, not fighting, but training. Turns out that almost immediately after Gideon and Victoria had been taken to Zion, the earth had commanded the leaders of the humans and beasts to make peace with one another and told them of the impending threat.
And so with a lot of chaos, reluctance and arguments, the two factions which were usually at odds with one another had come together and we're now being trained by their respective powerhouses. It would appear that in the face of annihilation, differences were unimportant.
"I wonder how they're doing." Lloyd said as he backed of from a clash with his wife Sarah who wielded a black scythe.
"They'll be fine." She said in her usual icy tone as she looked up, and immediately, the emotional words of Gideon rang in her mind and she felt her heart sting.
She didn't know why, but every word that Gideon uttered struck her to her core, Lloyd included.
'I'll do better.' She thought as her gaze hardened with determination. She wouldn't make the same mistake, and even though she knew that repairing their relationship was near impossible, she would try. She owed them that much, at least.
