That was the only explanation that made sense. After all, Hal, from what Doug had sensed in the bandit camp, was only at the mid-stage of the Cosmic Phenomenon realm, and the ladies with him were most likely at the same level of strength. 

They could not have taken down thousands of men all on their own.

In fact, since Red Beard was at the Late stage of the Cosmic Phenomenon Realm and confident of defeating the Mayor who was at the peak stage of the Cosmic phenomenon Realm, Hal could not possibly have killed him by himself.

So, in all honesty, while the Mayor was taking all of Hal's disrespect, he was only doing so because Hal could still be a genuine asset. Also, it would do well to have whatever force backing Hal to be on his side and not against him.

The Mayor cleared his throat,
