CHAPTER 287: Slave
.
Ethan found the situation rather peculiar.
He was aware that slaves were treated in a certain way in this place, and from the knowledge he had absorbed from the guards, he more or less knew what they could do and what they couldn't.
Slaves, depending on their master, also held a certain degree of importance.
For example, if an ordinary soldier was walking around with a slave, they were required to put a collar on the slave to indicate that they were of a certain level.
This was because if, instead of a soldier, it was a commander or a general, the treatment of the slave would be slightly different.
In this case, the slave wouldn't have a collar but rather a tattoo on the back of their hand.
The tattoo could vary, from being a generic design for slaves to a personalized one that identified the demon household the slave belonged to, or anything else.
Gentlemens, and ladies.
I would like to say that this announcement is about the usual PS and GT's thing, but unfortunately for all of us, this is not the case.
As I mentioned nearly two weeks ago, depending on how the novel performed this month, I would have to decide how to proceed in the future.
To be honest, I was expecting poor performance this month, but my expectations were exceeded, in a negative way.
(╥﹏╥)
The novel has performed much worse than in the past four months, which is quite unexpected, though I suppose it was inevitable.
I am fully aware of the issues with my novel and knew it was already slowly dying,
I just... didn’t expect it to do so at this pace.
Now, don’t get me wrong. When I started writing, I honestly just wanted to see if I could have some future in this field, and I was prepared for this project to be a complete flop.
To my surprise, this project hasn’t been a total flop, but it’s not far from it either.
This means the novel did have something worthwhile to offer, which makes me very happy, and I thank you all for that.
As I mentioned in the past, the first part of the novel was nearing its conclusion, and I can confirm that it will end in the next 10–20 chapters at most (reason why I also avoid putting additional priv. tiers)
I’ve been thinking about how to proceed because I can’t continue dedicating a lot of hours a day to a project that’s doing me more harm than good.
If I want to have a future as a full-time author, I have to make some decisions based on my current circumstances,
and quickly, if I don’t want my first novel to also be my last.
I’ve been considering this for more than two months now, looking for alternatives, but unfortunately, there aren’t any.
By now, I think you’ve already understood what I’m talking about, so I won’t beat around the bush. The novel will end with the conclusion of the first part of the storyline.
As things stand, this is for the best, because in this way, readers who have been patient enough to follow me on this journey, which has now lasted more than half a year now, will have a proper ending point without feeling like the plot was rushed or cut off too early.
Honestly, I would prefer to continue writing without worrying about so many things, but I don’t have that luxury at the moment.
If the situation improves in the future, I might be able to pick up the novel again with a Book 2, but I can already tell you it won’t happen anytime soon.
I’m sorry to give you this news at the very beginning of the new year, but believe me, it’s not an easy decision for me either.
Thank you once again for the patience you’ve shown toward me and my novel.
