The room was so dark that one would think it was still night.
The woman was so angry that every maid was trying to shrunk her neck and be one with the wall.
"How in the world did this happen? Didn't you tell me that she had already left the palace when I extended the guards' night break?" asked the duchess with a red face that her eldest daughter shrunk.
"I am sure that she had left her room. When I opened the door of her room, she was not there!" she said in a stuttering voice when she felt the red eyes of her mother staring at her with so much anger. "What.. what if she had come back later and we did not notice."
That could be the only possible reason. She nodded her head at her conclusion, when her mother slapped her hard.
"Do you think that she could come back? Forget about her even when i.. The level warrior could not come back without being noticed by the sharp eyes of guards, how could she come back without being noticed when she did not have any power except space that was also so weak." Jane covered her cheek where the slap had landed with her hands and then looked at her mother with aggrieved eyes but her mother ignored her upset look and then stared at her elder daughter.
"And you, didn't you say that you had planted enough proof in her room for her to get humiliated in the public and you will even make sure that she would be thrown out of the palace. Then what was that? Why did the guards find nothing?" she asked with anger when Jenny sighed.
"Do not stay silent. Give me a reply Jenny or you would not be able to get rid of my wrath. She was supposed to be the laughing stock but she had made us one. I still could not forget how the guards and other members from the royal family were looking at me.
I wanted to hold her and jump into the fire right there to get rid of that embarrassment." she said with gritted teeth as her eyes turned redder.
She had spent such a hefty amount in giving gifts to those lower fools who did not even deserve one look from her to keep their mouths shut.
And the look they were giving her, it was so humiliating that she was not able to forget it.
"Not even had I wasted so much money but she was sleeping peacefully in her room and now I have to buy her a few dresses, a carriage and give her allowance too. Do you know how much it would cost?" she glared at both of them.
While Jane rubbed her cheek and looked at her sister who was still unharmed with jealousy, Jenny smiled and walked to her mother with an assured smile.
"I know, that is why I would pay for all that month for the next three months." she said in a soft and sweet voice that would win the heart of anyone.
Her mother stared at her with confusion, "why only for three months? If you are trying to palace me with such a small amount then it is not going to work." she frowned as she looked at her daughter.
Even her smile and calm face would not be able to silent her right now.
"There is nothing like that, mother. I am only offering for three months since she would not live here for more than three months.
I know how to get rid of her. We only failed because she had never left the room. She must have seen the maid placing all that in her room." she said with a low voice that her mother nodded when Jane bit her lips and stomped her feet.
"What are you talking about? Did I not tell you that I saw the room was empty with my own eyes." her shoulders were shaking with anger.
She could not believe that they were not listening to her when she had placed herself in danger by checking everything by herself.
But in spite of the anger of her little sister, Jenny just smiled and shook her head with a sigh as if she was tired of dealing with the tantrums of a kid.
"But did you check the washroom?" she asked with a smile when Jane opened her mouth but paused.
She had not checked the washroom of course, she had just peeked into the room.
"See, i have told you to ask the maids rather than her. She did such a poor job. But do not worry, I will still help you in getting rid of her." Jenny patted the shoulders of her mother who was glaring at her cowering daughter now.
When she heard Jenny, she sighed.
"Alright, but let a week pass. I want everything to be peaceful so that no one would drag us into the mess."
