Blanc left Fort Shadowsong a month ago and while on his way to Samara City, he enthusiastically thought about ways to torture the vile bastard, King Samara.
Yes, he was a king so he had to be compassionate to his subjects and harsh to his enemies, however, at the same time, he was only human.
Blanc didn't think that he was a good person at all because ever since he was young, he already knew that he had quite a dark side to his personality.
He had a certain threshold wherein he wouldn't take someone's wrongdoings personally, however, once someone crosses this threshold, Blanc will plant seeds of hatred in his heart against that certain person.
Unfortunately for King Samara, he was a person that Blanc truly hated to the core and his transgressions were categorized by Blanc as unforgivable.
The best thing he could've done was kill himself. Letting himself fall into the hands of Blanc wasn't a smart choice at all because now, Blanc will torture him until he and Helena are satisfied.
Finally, after a few more hours, Blanc arrived at the gates of Samara City where he was warmly welcomed by Helena and her men.
However, what shocked him was, that some citizens came out of their houses to welcome him. It seems that Helena did a perfect job at conquering Samara City.
After an unexpectedly warm welcome from the citizens, Blanc and Helena arrived at Samara Castle.
Blanc had a cold smile plastered on his face as he entered the castle and walked down towards the prison where King Samara was locked up.
An unpleasant smell assaulted Blanc's nose as he proceeded deeper into the underground prison.
However, Blanc wasn't annoyed by the smell at all, on the contrary, he was quite happy that King Samara was jailed in such an uncomfortable environment.
In his mind, King Samara, who has been a powerful and influential noble all his life, would have a hard time surviving in such a filthy prison.
After walking for a few more minutes, Blanc finally saw the pathetic state of King Samara who seemed to have already lost his mind due to everything that was currently happening to him.
Indeed a filthy self-centered and greedy noble who only knows how to take advantage of the masses by using his power unscrupulously.
"Hahahaha! Samara…You shouldn't have let yourself fall into my hands. I bet you didn't think that the day would come when the children of a small countryside noble would bring ruin upon everything you worked hard for"
King Samara, who heard Blanc's voice, slowly turned his head to look. However, he didn't have any particular reaction because right now, all he wanted was to die.
He wanted to die because he couldn't bear living in such a filthy environment.
Unfortunately for him, harsher things were coming his way.
Blanc signaled Helena and her men to bring King Samara to the torture chamber and instructed them to prepare the necessary tools and materials to make King Samara's life a living hell.
Meanwhile, he decided to meet Queen Lockridge first who was rescued by Helena and the others inside King Samara's room.
She was in a pretty dire state when Helena and the others found her.
Inside King Samara's room, she was naked and completely tied up. It seems that King Samara had been regularly using her as a pleasure toy.
In addition to this, her eyes were blank and it seemed like she already lost the will to live.
Fortunately, when Helena and the others saved her, a bit of life returned to her blank and lifeless eyes. Then, after a few days passed, she started talking about her experiences which infuriated Helena even more.
This King Samara was simply morally deranged!
Queen Lockridge also pleaded with them to look for her daughter who was gifted to the soldiers and became their plaything.
Helena immediately ordered an investigation and found that unfortunately, Princess Lockridge had already passed away a few months ago.
She didn't know how to tell Queen Lockridge but in the end, she had to know so Helena gathered up her courage to tell her about what happened.
As expected, after hearing about the death of her daughter, Queen Lockridge's eyes went back to being lifeless again.
Blanc heard about her potential as an excellent strategist so he would like to talk to her first and see if there was anything he could do for her.
However, if she truly wished for death, then Blanc would at least respectfully grant her wishes because what happened to her was truly tragic and the human heart can only bear so much pain.
After walking for a few minutes, Blanc finally arrived in front of Queen Lockridge's room. He then knocked respectfully before opening the door.
Upon entering, Blanc was shocked. It seems that Queen Lockridge's mental state was worse than what he imagined.
However, Blanc resolved himself to do everything he could to save her if she showed even the tiniest sliver of will to live.
Queen Lockridge slowly turned her head to look at Blanc who respectfully bowed at her and introduced himself.
"Hello, Queen Lockridge, I'm King Rougenfort, who was once a citizen of Lockridge Kingdom"
Queen Lockridge's eyes flickered after hearing that the recently ascended King Rougenfort was once a citizen of their beloved kingdom.
Helena forgot to mention that she was the eldest daughter of Count Laurelei because as a woman, she was deeply affected by the harsh experiences of Queen Lockridge.
After seeing a slight reaction from Queen Lockridge's eyes, Blanc immediately spoke again to follow up on his words.
"You see, the woman you talked to earlier, the Grand Marshal of Rougenfort Kingdom, was the daughter of one of your loyal subordinates, Count Leonardo Laurelei"
"After the Laurelei Fiefdom fell, the three of us decided to establish a village in the faraway lands of the gloomy plains"
"Starting anew was difficult, very difficult. However, after going through harsh experiences, life slowly got better."
"We've successfully established Rougenfort Kingdom and we were even able to avenge Count Laurelei"
In response, Queen Lockridge simply looked at him with her lifeless eyes and said
"Why are you telling me this? I'm nothing but a defeated dog who has been used multiple times by Samara. If you would find it in your heart to end my life…Please…Please just do me this favor…"
Blanc sighed after hearing what she said, however, he decided to convince her one last time before giving up.
Unfortunately, it seems that she was determined to end her life and accompany her beloved husband and daughter in the afterlife so Blanc fulfilled her wishes by ending her life as peacefully as possible.
He gave her a tasteless and painless poison which she eagerly consumed. Then, after half an hour, Queen Lockridge peacefully passed away inside her room.
Blanc then ordered his men to hold a small burial ceremony for her.
He was heartbroken because this was the only thing he could do for Queen Lockridge, however, he was only one man and he had to accept that he couldn't save everyone.
