Blanc is inside his room taking deep breaths while staring at the distance through the large window.
Today is the day of his crowning ceremony and not even once did he think that he would be a king one day.
He couldn't help but smile as he remembered the times when he played happily with Helena and Adelaine in the spacious backyard of Count Laurelei.
Now, although he was still young, he was about to take on the huge responsibility of officially leading a nation as its king.
The pressure started to get to him after realizing that running a city isn't even half of how difficult it would be to lead an entire kingdom and that the title of a king is way heavier than the title of city lord.
Blanc, raised as a responsible person by his mother couldn't do a half-assed job even if he tried to. He had his own standards and he couldn't stand doing something not up to his standards.
If he's gonna lead a kingdom, then he will make sure to do well. However, he couldn't help but feel nervous as numerous questions flooded his mind.
What if a strong kingdom invaded and I didn't have the power to protect everyone?
Will I mentally burn out someday?
Will I lose myself by taking on this huge responsibility?
Blanc struggled to find answers to such questions so he tried to calm himself down by taking lots of deep breaths. There was no going back, he had to firmly remember why he was doing this and imprint it deep in his body and soul.
"Remember the day you lost your home, the day your loved ones cried, the hardships that you faced when you were searching for a new home…Remember everything…"
Blanc muttered to himself
Finally, after a few more minutes of waiting, someone knocked on the door of his room.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK*
"You may come in."
Alenna slowly opened the door and said
"Your majesty, it's time…"
Blanc closed his eyes briefly and took one last deep breath. He then opened his eyes and looked resolutely in the distance.
He then turned to look at Alenna and said "Let's go".
Alenna nodded and waited for Blanc to walk in front of her before following him toward the throne room's crowning balcony.
Blanc specifically requested for this crowning balcony to be right in front of the Resonance Plaza and inside the throne room for not only meaningful crowning ceremonies in the future but also convenient ones.
Truly the epitome of "efficiency".
Finally, after a few minutes of walking, Blanc arrived inside the throne room where the ex-general, now Grand Marshal Helena, was waiting.
The two of them looked deeply at each other before nodding and walking slowly towards the crowning balcony with Arlo Heisenburg, the one who was appointed as the leader of the council.
Since the crowning balcony was built in the throne room, the three of them didn't need to walk for a long time and after just two minutes of walking, they were greeted by the loud cheers of the citizens as they stepped on the crowning balcony.
The crowning balcony was huge enough to fit a hundred people but only three people could step on it. The leader of the council who would be the one to crown the king, the grand marshal, and the king himself.
Blanc smiled widely as he waved his hands towards his citizens and he couldn't help but feel gratitude after seeing that almost the entire Resonance City was flooded with the citizens who wholeheartedly supported him as their new king.
After a brief scan of the crowd, Blanc felt a little emotional once he saw familiar faces like little Emma. Memories of the time when they were just starting out as a small village played out in his head and he couldn't help but mutter to himself.
"Even little Emma is not so little anymore…We've come a long way…"
His emotional thoughts were cut short as Arlo proceeded to start the ceremony.
He didn't want their new king, Blanc, to expose himself too much on the crowning balcony since there might be a high-level ranger somewhere waiting for the right moment to assassinate him.
"Citizens of Rougenfort Kingdom, we, the council, are happy to announce that we have selected a wise and compassionate king to lead all of us to greater heights in life and he is none other than our ex-Resonance City Lord, Blanc Rougenfort!"
The crowd erupted in cheers after hearing that Blanc would be the king of Rougenfort Kingdom.
Although they knew that it would be him, the citizens loved him so much that they still couldn't help but cheer wildly after it was officially announced.
Blanc's heart felt warm after seeing how much his citizens loved him and he vowed to do his best to not let them suffer at all if possible, even those from the newly built small villages.
Once the commotion died down, Arlo retrieved the crown and held it up high in the air as he slowly walked towards Blanc.
He then hovered the crown above Blanc's head as he gave a serious look to Helena. Arlo and Helena nodded at each other before Arlo slowly placed the crown on Blanc's head.
After the crown was placed on Blanc's head, Helena slowly walked in front of Blanc and knelt as she recited a Grand Marshal's oath of loyalty to the king.
Once she was done reciting her piece, Arlo spoke again.
"The oath of loyalty has been recited which marks the end of this crowning ceremony, citizens of Rougenfort Kingdom, let us welcome our new king, Long Live His Majesty, King Blanc Rougenfort!"
"Long Live King Rougenfort!!"
"Long Live King Rougenfort!!"
"Long Live King Rougenfort!!"
