Alarm bells rang in Helena's head.
Out of the five, she was the most beastly in nature so her instincts regarding the feeling of danger were the sharpest out of all the military leaders.
She knew that the Naib they were facing right now was bad news, making her hesitate if she should allow her subordinates to fight.
Naib was more like an abomination right now instead of a human so she couldn't help but ponder if it was wise to fight the guy at all.
Surely, this current state of his wasn't permanent so as long as they successfully survived his onslaught, then Naib and his mercenary group were done for.
Helena and her men doubted that Naib's subordinates would be capable enough to restore the mercenary group to its former glory so if they managed to slay Naib, they knew that they didn't have to worry about this renowned mercenary group in the future.
Gritting her teeth in determination, Helena signaled her men to retreat.
This would probably be a brute force battle and their classy, combat technique-dependent fighting styles wouldn't be effective against such a monstrosity.
Only she could hold such a brute off.
The monstrous Naib looked around with a demonic smile, seeing that the men surrounding him were starting to retreat, the creepy smile on his face grew even creepier as he focused his attention on the young woman in front of him.
Helena didn't know if Naib retained his sanity after consuming the pill so she planned to test it out.
If he was sane, she should approach the fight cautiously because Naib's fighting style was incredibly crafty.
He loved luring his opponents in with false openings before punishing them for overaggression.
On the other hand, if he wasn't sane, then Helena should expect a berserk fighting style, which in her opinion, would be easier to deal with.
But first, she had to temporarily fend off the already charging Naib.
Dust and dirt flew everywhere as Naib crazily darted towards Helena, his tongue hanging out of his mouth like a rabid dog.
If it was an ordinary swordmaster, the guy would've probably turned tail and run from such a nightmare-inducing sight.
However, it only fueled Helena's battle-hungry heart.
Never once had she cowered away from a fight. No matter how horrifying Naib was right now, she would never retreat due to superficial reasons such as appearance.
Brandishing his falchion forth, Naib's saliva flew everywhere as he aimed to decapitate Helena with one swift attack to the neck.
'Oh? Aiming straight for the neck are we? Is this guy actually sane? Is he pretending to be crazy?' Helena mused as she raised her greatsword vertically in an attempt to block Naib's horizontal slash.
*CLANG*
'F*ck! Isn't this pill too potent?!' Helena inwardly complained, feeling her internal organs shake as she fearlessly clashed against Naib.
Still, she must admit that in terms of raw strength, she was at a disadvantage.
She was sure that if she kept fighting Naib head-on, her body would collapse first. Unfortunately, Naib had no intentions of stopping his onslaught any time soon.
He wildly continued hacking and slashing towards Helena who was slowly being overwhelmed, continuously inching backwards with every clash.
With one unlucky backstep, Helena slipped on a puddle of blood on the ground, causing her to lose her balance and fall on her back.
'Crap!'
She cursed as Naib's vicious slash continued downwards to split her in half. If not for her fast reflexes, allowing her to quickly roll sideways to dodge Naib's attack, then she would've died a gruesome death.
Just when Naib was about to attack again.
*FWOOSH*
A green glowing arrow pierced through the air, embedding itself deep into Naib's neck.
Shockingly, although the arrow was infused with arrow intent, it wasn't even able to pass through Naib's unusually tough flesh.
It seems that the pill enhanced Naib's physique outside the realms of humanity.
The arrow that should've separated Naib's neck from his head found itself stuck in his neck.
Still, the attack seemed to have done quite a bit of damage since it was able to stop Naib from attacking Helena.
Naturally, Helena wouldn't let go of the chance given to her by Eden.
She quickly stabbed her fiery greatsword into Naib's right leg, sending blood spurting out of the burning wound.
A bone-chilling howl escaped from Naib's throat due to the pain, making the hairs of those who heard it stand on end.
However, to Helena, it sounded heavenly.
In her optimistic mind, as long as she could wound Naib in his current state, then it wasn't impossible to win.
