Capítulo 70: Chapter 70

The Goddesses observed the ongoing battle with keen intensity, particularly Artemis and Athena, whose brother, Dionysus, had been transformed into the Beast. They pondered how their sibling had come to such a fate, but then their thoughts turned to Gaia, recalling her presence within Dionysus's body. The realization of Gaia's involvement in the transformation sparked a mix of emotions within them, from sorrow to anger. Meanwhile, Hera and Hippolyta watched Diana's courageous fight against the Beast with evident joy and pride. Diana's bravery and determination in the face of adversity filled them with admiration.

"Diana is making this Queen proud by beating the crap out of Zeus's son" Hera declared with a proud smile on her face, though her tone carried a hint of mockery. She held her cheek with her palm, adding a touch of regal flair to her demeanor.

"Come on now, Gran..." Hippolyta began, intending to address Hera as grandmother, but she stopped midway upon noticing Hera's blazing stare. She coughed slightly before correcting herself, "Queen Mother, I don't think Zeus appreciates you bad-mouthing his children, especially..." Hippolyta paused, glancing down at the arena before continuing, "especially the dead ones." She whispered the last part, hoping to keep it from Artemis and Athena, but her attempt failed as their expressions turned gloomy once again.

"Hmph, what's he gonna do, kill me?" Hera retorted with a smirk, chuckling lightly. "I'm the Goddess of Marriage, for crying out loud" she reminded her granddaughter, Hippolyta, of her esteemed title, speaking with a tone of pride.

"That's why I like you, Queen Mother, as we both hate Zeus with every fiber of our being" Hippolyta replied with a cruel smile. They shared a common hatred for Zeus, the notorious womanizer among the gods. As for Hippolyta's animosity towards Zeus, it stemmed from his attempted rape of Diana in the past. Fortunately, Diana was protected by the protection made by her own father, freezing Zeus in time whenever he attempted to lay a hand on her. Similarly, Hippolyta enjoyed the same protection, gifted by Diana's father, or more precisely, Hippolyta's missing "husband" whose identity remained a mystery.

Meanwhile, below in the training grounds, the huntresses slowly surrounded the area where the Beast lay buried. Other huntresses fended off the creatures, but their efforts were in vain as the creatures continually stood back up, frustrating the huntresses to the point of nearly pulling their hair out. The ground shook and rumbled once more, causing some of the huntresses to almost stumble before regaining their balance.

Suddenly, vines or a massive tree sprouted from the epicenter of the Beast's impact. The towering presence of the growth filled the huntresses with awe. Fire began to ignite at the base of the vines or tree, rapidly moving upwards towards the tips. As the flaming vines started to fall towards the huntresses, they swiftly evaded, narrowly avoiding the fiery tendrils.

The huntresses frowned as they watched the fire consume the vines. Their frowns turned to anger as they realized the Beast's underhanded tactic, even though it was acting purely on instinct. The smoke generated by the burning vines was poisonous; while it didn't have the capability to kill the huntresses instantly, inhaling too much would lead to a miserable fate.

As the huntresses tried to escape the toxic smoke, the ground beneath them turned into mud or quicksand, trapping them and preventing any movement. They began coughing uncontrollably, spitting blood as the toxic gas filled their lungs.

"Diana!" Atalanta shouted, her face filled with panic, even though Diana was right beside her. Diana responded resolutely, "On it." She raised her arms and began moving them in a circular motion, focusing on the dying huntresses trapped in the quicksand and toxic smoke.

Meanwhile, some of the huntresses who were not caught in the quicksand tried to help their trapped comrades by throwing them ropes and attempting to pull them out. However, the toxic gas they had inhaled hindered their efforts, causing them to cough up blood and weaken. As they struggled, some of the creatures began attacking the trapped huntresses, seeking their revenge.

Wind started to swirl around the trapped huntresses, while the creatures continued their relentless attacks. The archers provided support, shooting arrows to fend off the creatures and prevent them from inflicting further harm, though the creatures seemed undeterred and pushed back against the arrows.

Atalanta was about to shoot when the Beast suddenly emerged from the ground where she and Diana were standing. Diana made a quick decision and teleported away, leaving a copy of herself to be hit by the Beast while she continued to move her arms in a circular motion to control the wind.

Atalanta quickly ran from the Beast to gain distance, focusing her attention on it. She knew that Diana's efforts to save the huntresses depended on her ability to keep the Beast at bay. The Beast chased after Diana, but she teleported consecutively, leaving copies of herself to be punched or stabbed by the hardened vines. Atalanta shot stronger arrows at the Beast, slowing it down. Swish* The wind began to pick up speed, forming a mini tornado.

Frustrated, the Beast gave up chasing Diana and focused on the trapped huntresses. However, instead of running towards them, it made the mistake of jumping, exposing itself in mid-air. Atalanta seized this opportunity, shooting powerful arrows at the Beast. She put a significant amount of energy into these arrows, causing the Beast to be flung away from the huntresses, buying them precious time. The mini tornado grew large and strong, lifting the creatures into the air and sucking them up to the top of the vortex. The huntresses, too, were getting lifted by the powerful winds, but their comrades helped anchor them to the ground with whatever they could find. The tornado also drew in the toxic smoke and fire, clearing the area of the dangerous fumes. Even rubble and stones were not spared, as they too were sucked into the tornado's swirling mass.

As the toxic smoke and fire were cleared out, Diana stopped moving her arms and dispelled the tornado. When the tornado dissipated, the creatures at the top began falling uncontrollably. The huntresses who were equipped with bows and arrows started shooting at the falling creatures, taking them down mid-air.

However, their brief respite was cut short as the Beast, flung away earlier, came screeching back toward them. The shrill noise forced the huntresses to cover their ears. Even Diana and Atalanta had to cover their ears, the piercing sound overwhelming them and momentarily halting their actions.

As if responding to the Beast's screech, the creatures, despite having no ears, ran toward it. With a rumble, vines began sprouting from the ground, commanded by the Beast. The vines shaped themselves into a giant humanoid form with an open birdcage-like ribcage in its chest. The creatures near the Beast began entering this cage.

Once inside, the creatures started burning one by one. What they did not expect was the chilling screams of pain and wails that accompanied their burning. As the creatures inside the cage were consumed by flames, the giant humanoid also ignited, fueled by the burning and screaming entities within. The humanoid giant let out a piercing, screeching scream that resonated through the battlefield, sending chills down the spines of the huntresses. The scene was horrific as the giant, burning humanoid advanced, driven by the sacrificial fires within it.
