Capítulo 30: Chapter 28:Salt War (Belandra's POV)

The war did not start as soon as it was declared, both we and our enemies took our time in preparation. Meanwhile, Anga joined our side, but they did not start to move immediately either. I thought at the beginning that they would not serve much of a purpose, besides being a small nuisance for our enemies.

I am now the ruler princess of Sarhoy. I am proud of ruling this beautiful city, where Mother Rhoyne meets the seas. Ny Sar may be the city of music and Sar Mell the city of flowers, but we are the city of all. We are the city of gold, wines, ivory, valyria candles, amber, sapphires, jade, cinnamon, saffron, and so on... We are the point that connects the west with the east. The city where the warm and liveness of the Rhoyne meets the mysteries of the far east. We are an eternal city that precedes the Long Night.

Father, I loved him as a daughter loves her father, but he was a weak ruler. I am still morning his death, but I need to go to war for our city because we rhoynars are not as patient as father was. He tried to avoid war with the sheepmen for far too long. The Volatene have spat on our hospitality, and have been harassing our people for far too long. They have been harassing our salt merchants taking our spot for collecting salt on the shore, little by little. To make it worst, they have been taking our sea traders as slaves. They will have the retribution they deserve.

We will not retreat, nor will we surrender. Not when Volon Therys and Sar Mell have already f*ck*d up Volantis really hard, it's a perfect opportunity to turn that d*mn city into ruins. I will not deny we are at a disadvantage though. The Volantis really bought a lot of thugs in their army. It seems like all the dirt of Valyria that touches the sea, except the central region, joined them. We have prepared for a long siege. We hope to have the enemy sacrifice its numbers to take hold of the city and counterattack when their morale has already fallen. To explain our situation I think I would have to explain our geography. We have control over the three Rhoyne's sea out river islands.

These islands may seem like Rhoyne's deltas but they are enormous pieces of land too tall for the Rhoyne to past-through so they are big in-river islands that touch the shores. The most important of all is where our seaport stands. If an army wanted to invade our city, it would not be dumb enough to cross the river. So we were prepared for a sea siege. Volantis allies came from too afar. To properly organize, they need to divide into two coast encampments one for the ones that came from the west(Lys, Myr, Tyrosh) and another that came from the east and south(Astapor, Meeren, Yunkai, Gorgossos). The first has to be somewhere in the orange shores making it easy to assemble close from here and attack our western shore. The second would be in Volantis so they can attack our eastern coast. This point is also good, because, in more than one trip, they can gradually transport much more tropes that fit in their ships. Man, at least mercenaries, are much cheaper than ships, so they can as they lose more and more men simply refill their ships with their reserved, in an attack and retreat motion.

Battle on the sea would not be ideal not only because our vessel numbers were lower than our enemy, but because we have the risk of being encircled by the sea navies. So I ordered our ships to retreat inside the river. We started to quickly build observation wooden towers all over the shore.

Although the city port was already well-defended. But our coast overall can not be said the same. My plans involve having the enemy unable to make an encampment on our shores, so I cannot leave the shore unprotected.

Our port has tall pink walls directly to the shore, and which entrance stands on gates outside the city, so that even if the fortified walls are taken the enemy will have to break the walls from within to enter the city. It also has a large artificial seawater canal, walled from both sides, where ships may sail to the inside of the city. There they may find an arch observation bridge, where ships are searched again. Inside the cargo is unloaded and sold to passing channel merchants that transport the products in smaller ships or take their ship's own smaller vessels to transport it. For the security and well-being of the inner canal traffic, only smaller ships are allowed inside the city. There these smaller ships pass through another observation bridge, are searched again, and can finally enter the city.

I am happy that at least Anga joined our city. It changed my plans completely because they attacked the forming camp at the orange shore. From what my sources have to say, most of the combined army of Lys, Myr, Tyrosh, and Pentos were killed with the few survivors escaping through the sea to Volantis and joining the eastern camp. I heard something about a magical bow that each time an arrow fell big flames spread killing several men. But I guess this was probably a new weapon from Sar Mell or something. As consequence, the attack we received was much weaker than expected. The enemy concluded that the war would be won if Sarhoy was taken over, so they attacked with all their strength. While we were defending Sar Mell, joined the war and flooded part of Volantis again. As the enemy couldn't advance or retreat, when their morale was at lowess, I called upon the navy and we started to counterattack and so the coalition was defeated.

Now I was in reunion with the ruler prince of Anga, his wife, and his grandfather, the prince ruler of Sar Mell.

"It's an honor for our city to have such strong allies. Your royal highness Karna, the prince ruler of Sar Mell. Your royal highness Lhorulu, the ruler prince of Anga, the city of wool lace. Your royal highness, Arthur, the ruler of Sar Mell, the city of flowers, that precedes the Long Night." I started the conversation. These formalities are a pain, but they are necessary.

"The honor is ours, your royal highness, ruler princess of Sarhoy, the city of the far seas."They said in unison.

"If you may allow me, your highness Belandra, we stand now together as allies, so there is no need for much formalities, if you prefer you may directly go to the point."Karna said, in his deep masculine, and naturally seductive voice.

"Thanks for your grace Mother Rhoyne, if you all allow me. I will ask: What do Anga and Sar Mel aim to gain from this war? "I said.

"Anga first wants to safe card the sea route that our laces are sold."Karna said.

"If it was only this Anga may just declare neutrality and reconcile with Volantis. The city trade fell so much that I don't doubt the new upstairs would trade with their previous enemy without batting an eye. Given the rivalry and power struggle between the big six. I don't see why Sar Mell's unofficial vassal would have an interest and supporting us much less Sar Mell itself."I said.

"Your highness, what do you think about the Valyrians?"Karna answered me with a question.

"They are a group of upstairs who think the world belongs to them, their magic is primitive and crude, they use lives like toys to test new tricks like the barbarians they are, and an annoyance that our ancestors let in."I said.

"Upstairs they aren't since they swallowed the Ghiscari Empire whole. Although the ghiscari were brutal and barbaric, both of us have to admit they were not weak. Now, these arrogant men became dust or slaves, and their slaves and children half-blood slaves became the dog of the valyrians. Some of them called themselves good masters, wise masters, or great masters, but all of them are Valyria's loyal pets. If we don't unite, that will be our fate."Karna said.

"So, your highness, believes we rhoynars are that weak to lose to lose to pale silver hair purple eyes b*st*rds."I said.

"Has your highness ever seen a dragon?"Karna asked me.

"No." I said truthfully.

"They can give a new bloodthirsty appearance to their weak porcelain nobles." Karna said and continued. "The valyrian didn't need very brave and strong soldiers or long years of training to control the holy wild waters of the Rhoyne, to end an empire. They only needed to walk on a pile of corpses to breed fire lizards, or dragons as they call, that made the ghiscari empire into a giant fireplace."

I understood his point.

"How many of these dragons do you think they have?"Karna said.

"No idea" I said.

"Hundreds, maybe more than a thousand" Karna said.

"I thought the stories about the ghiscari war were exaggerated and your cities' last war only have a little more than a dozen of dragons, that somehow you killed with your mysterious weapons "I said.

"Although the Valyrian Empire is a nation, just like us, their leaders hardly unite because they are too busy in their inner struggles for power. Some families may even believe I killed their riders with the support of their political rivals. But their greed for our land gradually grows, sooner or later they will unite with the idea that our land is rich and that our people make nice slaves." Karna said."The main point is if we rhoynars will unite to face the biggest threat to our survival since the Long Night. So I propose an alliance, between our three cities."

"I understand your point. I, in the name of Sarhoy, agree to your proposal."I said. I believe he was too much of an alarmist, but I can't deny Sarhoy now has too many enemies and longer-term allies are a must.

So my city, Anga and Sar Mell signed an alliance. Later we discussed the war continuation and how far we should take this war. Now that the diplomatic meeting was over, the official gathering would begin. Here all princes and princesses of Sarhoy would meet not only Karna, Lhorulu, and Arthur, but the diplomats from our enemies as well. Yes, diplomats instead of keeping a united front the different colonies are already sending different diplomats It seems that some want to jump out of the losing ship.

We have already thought of this possibility and discussed it.

We made peace with Astapor, Yunkai, Meeren, and Gorgossos, receiving financial reparation from these cities. We would take the war to Myr, Lys, Tryosh, and Volantis. We, Sarhoy, would drown Volantis again and destroy what is left of it.

Four is a perfect number for me. I would not deny that I got interested in that bulky man called Karna. I went to talk to Karna and his beautiful wife. I know my husband would love to have sex with Lhorulu and I want to give him a surprise as well.

"Both of you seem like a nice couple and life sometimes needs a bit of spicy, so would you be interested in a foursome with me and my husband? Especially you bulky hotty." I said I was a bit timid at this time, but not much, this is not much of a rare invitation in the court.

"First I am not bulky, my muscles are lean." Karna said.

Lean muscles with that size. He seems to understand my disagreement.

"They may seem bulky by how big they are, but they are lean because there is little fat in them. Just concentrated body mass."Karna concluded he seems to be very proud of his muscles.

Lhorulu god in front of him and said.

"My king of elephants is only mine. Wanting to pursue happiness I can understand. Hubby showed me that there is a way to spice up a relationship without affairs. Give her your notes, hubby."Lhorulu said.

"Sure if you say it I will give my dear notes. But what if I forget something?" Karna gave me the notes without thinking twice. But later asked his wife concerned.

"You have already decorated everything, you may even know how to read it backward in your head" Lhorulu said.

"Guess you are right" Karna said.

Later these notes would become very important to me, there was create wisdom in them. I had no idea there were so many ways to have sex. Thank you Lhorulu you are my hero from all my heart.
