3 hours later
Amber masked her presence before stepping out of her space storage. Her system immediately scanned the surrounding area and found no one there except for the wild beasts.
Not taking any chances, she continued to mask her presence as she walked away to leave the forest. She came upon a wide road but she didn't know where it would lead her. "Is this the way to the town?" she asked her system while looking left and right.
System: "Yes, walk down this path to your left and you will enter the Kingdom of Asenguard."
Instead of walking, Amber jogged down the path to see what kind of Kingdom she was currently living in. From afar, she was able to see the majestic castle which brought back memories she had on Earth. She had seen so many castles in her life, but the one she was looking at right now was incomparable.
She continued to walk for another hour and arrived in front of a tall gate. Three men were guarding the gate and when they saw Amber, they looked at her from head to toe.
"Asnik ak?" (Who are you?) said one of the guards but Amber stood there in confusion. She could not understand their language at all.
[Oh, my God! You've got to help me!]
System: "Language Assimilation has been activated. This is a passive skill for survival."
[Thank, God! You are the best system of all.]
System: 😑
Amber laughed mentally at the system's reaction. It surely remembered the instances she said it was useless.
"I'm Amber," she said and the words that came out of her mouth were the translation of her answer.
"Gan Asnu Ak Irid?" (What are you doing here?)
"I'm an orphan. My parents died and I needed a place to stay." [Can you please directly translate their words? It's weird to listen to them.]
System: "Got it."
"Can you show me your identity card?"
"I'm not sure I was told by my parents about that," Amber answered helplessly. "Can you show me a sample of that card? I have so many things inside my bag, so one of them must be that card."
The guard took out his card and showed it to her. [I don't have this card. Can we forge this?]
System: "We can't. There might be a special rule to this."
Amber opened her bag, pretending to be looking for her identity card even though she didn't have it. "I don't think I have that. My parents only gave me this bag. I have not seen that."
The guards looked at each other and nodded their heads in a tacit understanding. "Wait here for a moment. We will just get someone to check on you."
Hearing his words, Amber knew that she shouldn't make a fuss about it. She sat on the wooden bench at the gate while waiting for the guard to return.
As she sat there in silence, she noticed some passersby looking at her. The guards kept glancing toward her as well. [Do I have something on my face?]
System: "I don't think that is the reason they are looking at you."
Amber completely ignored them and waited there in silence.
Not long after, the guard who left had returned. Following behind him was a beautiful woman with long blond hair and cerulean eyes. She was like an angel who descended from heaven.
"Come with me," the guard said and brought her and the beautiful woman inside the guard tower. In the middle of the room, there was a huge crystal ball and Amber was told to drop blood on it.
The woman handed her a needle and she got right into her task. When her blood dripped on the ball, there was a ripple of colors inside it which stunned the beautiful woman. She touched the ball and all the colors were sucked into her palm, but when she lifted her hand, Amber saw a card there.
[Yeah. There was no way we could forge something magical as this.]
System: "I told you so."
The woman checked Amber's identity card and her eyes went wide like saucers. She read the name repeatedly as if it would change if she kept doing that, but even after a minute, it was still the same Amber Azazinova.
"Uhm... Is there something wrong with my card?"
The woman finally pulled herself back to reality and gave the card to Amber. "There's nothing wrong with your card. I'm Linares Luna. I'm a sorceress and I'm responsible for all registries here. Call me Lina. I prefer that name."
"Does that include the merchants?"
"Yes. Do you want to come with me? I'll show you around the town."
"Really? Thank you so much. Just call me Amber."
