The following morning Jonah was on his way to rehab back in Iowa. We had him transferred to a facility near to us so that we could support, and it was also, to keep an eye on him. We weren't allowed to visit him initially for obvious reasons. We had to give the program time to start working, but Jonah had given consent to us being updated regularly on his progress.
Valerie was focused on the business side of what Jonah's situation meant, whereas, I thought more about Jonah's welfare. Each day that passed, they saw slow to no progress from him as he paid lip service to the professional team trying to support his recovery.
The doc told us what we already knew. Jonah had to get clean for Jonah, not because we all wanted it for him.
