The island was quiet and dark, only the crackling of fires and the wind could be heard.
While the soldiers who were garrisoned on the island planned their attack on the Royal chambers and discussed how they would handle the lone Kingsguard, Jaime was a well known swordsman after all, Jaime and Willem along with his men secured a pathway to two small ships.
One was much larger than the other, it was a merchant vessal that Willem had found washed up on shore. It was only slightly damaged and could be fixed quickly and easily.
Once they made the repairs they put the boat into the Narrow Sea side of the island since many of the guards were stationed on the side overlooking the Bay.
Once the merchant ship was ready, the men brought the women and children out of the castle without being detected. Before boarding the vessal both Elia and Rhaella gave Aiden a big hug.
They had informed Aiden of what they needed him to do, although he didn't want to leave them, they had used the reasoning that they needed him to save his family members and loyal men.
Reluctantly he had agreed, "But how will I find you again?" Aiden asked worriedly.
"Don't worry kid, I already thought of that ahead of time. Here, when you get to the tower give this to one of the Kingsguard's and they will know where we are." Jaime answered, and after ruffling Aiden's hair he handed him a scroll that was sealed with the Targaryen sigil.
Rhaenys cried when she noticed Aiden not getting on the ship, which then caused the two babies to begin to cry which they quickly calmed them down so that they wouldn't be heard.
But they quickly set off since it was possible they were heard and they didn't want to be found out just yet. They didn't want a ship to follow and let Robert know where they went.
They were heading to Pentos since the Targaryens did have buisnesses and men there. It wasn't an army but they would have better supplies and living environment than staying on Dragonstone.
Aiden waved at the departing ship as his tears fell.
"Man your such a cry baby." A voice suddenly startled Aiden, but he recognized the voice and quickly wiped his tears.
"Am not. Your such a bully." Aiden answered which caused the man who appeared next to him laugh.
"You know little brother, you can do much more than you are now." Sho said after he finished laughing.
"Age is nothing to us. You need to change that mentality of yours if you want to protect those you love. This world is a cruel one, and I've seen quite a few worlds. Though there are worse ones, this one is one of the worse. Here, let me give you a little wake up call." Sho-El said as he placed his hand on Aiden's head.
Sho used his power to show Aiden the world outside his little bubble of reality. He was always protected and cared for in the castle in Kings Landing. Even when the Red Keep was attacked, although he did kill both Gregor and Armory, Jaime had handled the rest while Aiden's mind was distracted with the various emotions of anger and fear.
Now however Sho was going to show Aiden what kind of world this truly was. A world of plots and schemes, death was at every corner and around every bend.
Towns and villages were raided and pillaged, people were captured and enslaved, treated as sub-human.
In Essos it was just as bad if not worse, in Westeros slavery was illegal, in Essos it was rampant. Children were ripped from their mothers and brutally trained into soldiers without fear of death. To complete their training they had to go into the city and kill a new born babe in front of their mother.
Women were sold as commodities and were subjected to any whim their owners wished. Men were worked to death in mines or in other laborious work camps.
There were organizations such as the House of the Undying who sacrificed all kinds of people to perform rituals or blood magic. Or the Faceless men who killed people and stole their faces, allowing them to use magic to look like the person whose face they had stolen.
Everything came crashing into Aiden's mind as he tried desperately to make it stop, as the visions flooded his mind Sho's voice came through, "This is just the tip of the iceburg little brother. There is much worse, there is a darkness coming, this darkness will swallow the world and everything in it but you."
Flashes of an old man wrapped in white tree roots and hundreds of thousands of dead people walking amonst the snow, all their eyes all had a bright icy blue glow to them.
"Do you want those you care about to end with such a fate? If so then keep denying who you are, I'm not saying you have to seperate yourself from them just because you aren't like them Aiden. Even though you aren't like them you can still live among them, but you have to accept that you aren't like them, its why your powers are being unstable." Sho explained as he removed his hand from Aiden's head, causing Aiden to fall onto his butt.
Sho sat down in front of Aiden and explained, "If you were a normal Kryptonian, you wouldn't have a choice in the powers manifesting under the same sun of this world. We are different, our divinity locks most powers down which is both a blessing and a curse."
To show Aiden what he meant, Sho transformed into a childs body.
"See, your only a child because you see yourself as one. Once you see yourself as something more..."
Sho then changed into a cat, then a dog, a dragon then he changed back to himself.
"You can be whatever you need or want, you decide. Its kind of how our power works. You have the abilty to alter your powers to suit your needs. Father sent you here for a reason, at first I didn't understand, but I am beginning to see why."
Sho then pointed to the S that is on his chest, "Hope. This world is losing its hope Aiden. It is dieing, and once it dies out this world will consume itself. Hope drives the world forward, it creates new wonderous things. Hope brings joy and happiness to those who have it, even in the darkest of hours. That is what you can embody here. You don't have to be from this world to save it. You can show them the way and let it be up to them to decide. Its what the house we are from represents, it was why we took it as our sigil, Hope for that better tomorrow."
Aiden slowly recovered from the images he was shown and began to ponder on his brothers words.
"But won't they fear me?" Aiden asked hesitantly.
"Yes." Sho said with a serious expression, and after a brief pause he continued, "Creatures all fear what they do not know, especially humans. So yes there will be those that fear you. But, once they know you are there to protect and guide them that fear will mostly disappear."
"Mostly?" Aiden asked as he was confused by his statement.
Sho chuckled a little and answered, "Those who do wrong and hurt the innocent will still fear you. Fear your judgement should they step out of line. Fear isn't all bad, fear is a tool to be used, it can save your life or do harm. Fear can protect and it can destroy. The key is finding that balance, ruling thru fear is wrong, but at the same time, if people do not fear repercussions for breaking a law, what good is your rule anyway? So you have to turn their fear of you, into fearing what you can do. I can only show you the way Aiden, you have to walk that path, right now you are barely walking. Accept who you are, create the Fortress of Solitude, gain your family inheritance. Travel this world and make your choice, save this world and the people within or not." Sho said as his form faded into nothing, leaving Aiden sitting on the dark shore alone.
Aiden closed his eyes, the sound of the waves coming ashore helped to calm him down. He couldn't believe the world was so bad. He knew there were bad people, he had seen quite a few in Kings Landing, but what Aiden witnessed just now was on a whole other level entirely.
When Aiden opened his eyes, a hint of determination flashed across his eyes as he thought on his mother and siblings. He wouldn't let anything happen to them, and if fixing this world and making it better would make them happier. So be it.
As Aiden stood up, he didn't notice he was taller by another head. Now instead of a four year old he looked to be about ten.
"I still think your a bully, but thanks." Aiden whispered to himself as he looked at the small row boat that could only sit about ten people.
Rather than getting into it like before, he thought about something, then grabbed the boat and lifted it easily over his head. Then focusing on wanting to fly, he slowly lifted off the ground, a smile formed on Aidens face as he shot off into the distance.
It was invigorating, it was the first time he was actually using his abilities in a nonreactive way.
This was the downside to Sho and Aidens ability, like Sho had said, it was a blessing and a curse. Unlimited power but restricted by yourself. As an example, Gladiator from the Marvel Universe, his powers are based on his own confidence. If he is confident in beating someone he can punch well above his own usual weight class, however a regular human could easy beat him if they break that confidence. Which if you think about it, confidence is a fickle thing. Many who have tried skydiving can tell you, you are pumped and confident the whole way, until you reach that door to jump. There is always that "what if".
Suddenly Sho appeared again in front of Aiden and pointed in a different direction than Aiden was flying, "Your so hopeless little brother. Your supposed to go that way to get where you need. Also your going to need new clothes."
Aiden opened his eyes wide as he realized his mistake, "Oops. Thanks." Then Aiden thought on his last sentence and looked down.
His previous clothes were ripped and torn, just barely clinging to his body.
"What the hell? What did you do to my clothes?" Aiden shouted.
"It was you, your improving and growing, still need a lot of work buuut your getting there. If you set up that Fortess you would have a suit like mine. It can grow and change with you."
Seeing Aiden's eyes sparkling as he looked at the blue and red suit he wore, Sho released a sigh, "Fine but I'll only retrieve your suit from the Fortress, nothing else. Some of those toys in there arent suitable for this world."
Sho snapped his fingers and a suit matching his own appeared on Aiden body, Aiden then studied and thought it was so cool looking.
'So cool. Too bad it doesn't come in black though.' Aiden thought then to his surprice the blue coloring turned black.
"Good job, looks like you figured out the suits can not only change size and shape but also color. There's actually a long list of stuff that thing can do but you have to figure that out yourself." Sho said as he pointed back south.
"Thanks for the clothes and directions." Aiden said as he turned in the direction Sho was pointing.
Aiden changed course and began to fly south towards the Tower of Joy to go pick up his new sibling and his mother's two friends and the three Kingsguard.
As Aiden quickly left carrying the boat he would need to carry everyone, at the Tower of Joy in Dorne, a huge arguement was happening.
"You shouldn't be here! You need to go back home." Arthur Dayne admonished.
"I refuse dear brother. Elia will be sending help and I travelled here with the Maester so are you saying I should return alone?" Ashara Dayne retorted.
"Elia is in Dragonstone, there isn't anything she can do from there. What do you think she has a dragon she can ride to send help? Thats the only way she could send help. We have tried to make a trip out of this place but Princess Lyanna was too weak to travel then and is even more so now. It's only a matter of time till we are found." Aurthur said with a defeated tone.
They had heard of Rhaegar's death and had been requesting aid from Dorne but Sunspear didn't send aid. Seeing Lyanna worsen Arthur had finally broke down and sent a letter to his family in Starfall for some aid.
What Arthur never expected was that Elia had already contacted Starfall for temporary assistance while they arranged everything else. Ashara, mad after hearing that her Ned broke his promise to wed and married Catelyn instead, saw this as an opportunity to get away for a bit.
So she travelled with a Maester to the Tower of Joy.
She didn't want to stay in Starfall, and knowing her best friend Elia was alive, she figured she would follow Elia for as long as necessary to get out of her depression.
"Riders approaching!" Gerolds booming voice was heard.
Arthur gave his sister a complicated look,
"This is exactly what I was afraid of, stay her with the Princess while we handle this."
