Months have quickly passed by and both Rhaenys and Aiden have turned four while Aegon was almost one names day old.
The rebellion has been going on for almost a year, the last Kings Landing had heard was that Rhaegar and his army were heading to the Trident to end the war.
The tension within the capital grew, Aerys seeing the tension rise had his sister-wife, Queen Rhaella who was once again pregnant, and his son Viserys moved to Dragonstone. Leaving Elia and the children alone.
Queen Rhaella had tried to bring at least the children, including Aiden, which Aerys refused. He wouldn't let her out of his sights to ensure Dorne remained loyal. He made sure they knew her life as well as the childrens were tied to the throne. If he died, so would they.
During this time Aiden continued to grow constantly. Unlike most Kryptonians whose power grew with time, Aiden and Sho grew with need. It was why Sho constantly looked for stronger and stronger opponents to fight. The need for strength to fight a stronger foe pushed their bodies to the power needed to win.
The constant tension that the maids as well as guards felt was incidentally fed over to Aiden whose ability to read people bordered mind reading. Aiden felt danger creeping into his life, so in response to a need his body began to grow faster.
Before he and Rhaenys were of similar heights, but since the start of the war, Aiden has now become almost a full head taller than his sister.
It was the execution of the Starks that triggered his explosive growth, the mental anguish they had experienced, the unjustice felt as they both perished, was felt by Aiden even from the Tower he and his sibling weren't able to leave.
It was that night that Aiden had a dream, one that had been planted within the metal key Sho had given to his brother, it was designed as a sort of starter kit. Once Aiden's powers truly began to awaken, a recorded message would be played within his dreams, it would detail his true origins and where he came from.
That next morning, Elia woke up to Aiden crying for the first time, this worried her causing her to rush to him and hold him tight.
"Whats wrong my love. Tell mother, did anyone hurt you?" Elia asked worriedly.
However his next words both shocked her and brought tears to her eyes.
"I had a dream momma. There a man said he was my brother, and that you weren't my mother. Is it true?" Aiden asked as he clung tightly to Elia as she did her best to comfort him.
She remained quiet for a few moments trying to calm Aiden down, she knew this day would come and had what she would say at that time all figured out, or so she had thought.
Seeing the devistation that was written all over his face, and the hope that it wasn't real had made everything she had planned to say feel all wrong. So instead she spoke from the heart.
Taking Aiden's head in her hands she put her own forehead against his lovingly as she held him close.
"It is true but also not true. You are my son, and I your mother, no matter who you are or where you come from my love, I will always be your mother and Rhaenys and Aegon will be your sister and brother, we love you dearly my son. Though you are not originally from this world, you always will have a place in our hearts, and us within yours if you allow us to be."
Aiden held her tight while nodding his head vigorously.
Elia seeing this smiled and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"I am so happy that you feel that way, my boy. You are growing up so fast. You have to stay strong, not only do you have to be strong for your sister and brother here, you also have another sibling on the way, two in fact, one will be another uncle or perhaps an aunt, you have to grow up strong to protect them."
Seeing Aidens stunned look and seeing him look at her own belly, Elia couldn't help but laugh and hug him tight.
"Not here silly. You father Rhaegar remarried and has another wife. She is with child that should be born soon, and then there is Grandma Rhaella, she has a uncle or aunt that is excited to meet you too. You don't want them to see you like this do you? Be strong my little flame and protect those you love."
After that day Aiden's temperament changed, he knew what he needed to do, he knew who he was, he had a purpose. Protect those he loved. His brother had all but said the same thing. He learned of his own House of El and what they represented to not only their own world, but to all worlds, hope.
He ignored his brother Sho's advice to plant the Fortress, where he needed to go was far, he was told he needed to hide the Fortress away from people. Otherwise many lives could be lost by the Fortress activating it defenses which could destroy cities with ease.
So Aiden decided that he would set it aside for when his family was safe. He also became aware of his abilities, Sho made sure Aiden had a better head start than himself. He made Aiden fully aware of his abilities and of his divinity.
A week after Aiden had discovered his origins, the Lannister army showed up outside the gates of Kings Landing, Tywin Lannister was at the head of the army requesting entrance to reinforce Kings Landing.
None on the small council knew what to think about this, that was until a Maester who handled the messages sent by Ravens came barging into the meeting room with fear all over his face.
"My King what does it say?" Pycelle questioned, although he already knew the answer, he had to play his role.
With a stern voice the Mad King answered after placing the letter onto the table, "My son Rhaegar has lost at the Trident and was killed by that Stag Robert Baratheon. Ser Barristan Selmy has turned traitor and now fights for the Usurper. So, I need opinions. The rebels are now marching south, do we let the Lannister army in to fortify the walls or have them face the rebels outside the city?" Aerys asked as he looked at the men before him.
The madness that usually clouded his mind was gone, the situation was grave, their armies were practically gone now that Rhaegar had been defeated and his armies were crushed and scattered. There was no time to regroup, the rebel army would be at their doorstep within days.
"I do not recommend letting my father in your grace. Have his armies begin to set up defenses and our men can reinforce them from the city walls." Jaime Lannister chimed in immediately, he knew his father wasn't to be trusted. Especially now that the King was in a losing position.
Jaime loved the children of Rhaegar and Elia, especially Rhaenys and Aiden, he had grown attached to them both. It was he who got Rhaenys her pet cat, which she named Balerion as tribute to the dragon that won the Targaryens Westeros.
Aerys pondered Jaimes words, but seeing that the king was no longer acting rashly Grand Maester Pycelle quickly spoke up, "My Great King Aerys, Lord Tywin has always been not just loyal to the crown throughout the years as your Hand, he has also been a close friend. Should you leave his armies at the mercy of the rebels, he may bend the knee seeing you as no longer a friend, then we will definitely fall with the Lannister army joining the rebels."
"If we open the gates and let my fathers army in there would be no stopping them from raiding this castle and killing every Targaryen within it. It is too risky, don't open the gate." Jaime admonished, hoping the King would listen.
"How dare you speak ill of your own father! If he had been here to hear such slander he would die of sadness. Wise King Aerys, Lord Tywin can be trusted, open the gates and save the kingdom." Pycelle continued to pressure him to open the gates.
Aerys closed his eyes to think, when he did this however, none were able to see his eyes gloss over, and whispers of "open the gates" resounded within Aerys mind, then it was followed by a much darker and nefarious whisper of "burn the all!"
Aerys eyes shot open followed by his usual smile of madness, "Open the gates! Lord Tywin can be trusted!" Aerys shouted, his voice echoing throughout the hall.
While Jaime's face fell, Pycelle's lit up with glee. He had accomplished the task given to him by Tywin Lannister, he knew exactly what was to come next. So he quickly left for the safety of his quarters.
Varys too knew what was to come, he had his little birds in Casterly Rock inform him of Tywin's true intentions. He wasn't here to reinforce, he was here to sack the city and end the Targaryen line for good. A show of good faith to the new king that would sit on the Iron Throne.
Within moments of the main gates into Kings Landing openning, the Lannister army turned on the city and began to loot, rape and pillage the commonfolk. Blood quickly turned the streets red, screams of men dieing and women being raped filled the streets.
During the chaos a small group of Tywin's most trusted knights quickly made their way to the keep, they didn't enter thru the front, rather a secret hidden entrance that just happened to be left open for them was used.
This would give Tywin's men a direct route to Elia and the children, the one leading the this group was Tywin's most ruthless and notorious knights in his employ.
Ser Gregor Clegane, or better known simply as the The Mountain. Next to him was another well known individual, Ser Armory Lorch.
Both men were serial rapists and murderers, they were known even to southerners as the most despicable of knights to ever be.
They took pleasure in hurting others, no matter who they were. Man, woman, child, elderly, commoner or noble, it didn't matter to them. As both travelled through the secret passages, their excitement grew with each step.
Both men were given specific instructions, make Elia and her children suffer as much as they possibly can. This excited both men, the Princess was a well known beauty, and they were allowed free reign on not just her, but of her children as well.
As the two knights made their way closer to Elia and her children, within the throne room only Jaime Lannister and King Aerys remained. The silence was broken by the rush of a guard, the sound of his armor clanging with each step as he ran, resounded through the hall.
"Your Majesty! Lord Tywin has betrayed us, his army is attacking the city. They are heading here now!" The guard hurriedly reported as he rushed in and quickly removed his helmet and got down on one knee.
At that moment, any sanity King Aerys once had completely vanished. This broke Aerys completely, he know knew it was all over. His once great house had fallen.
Then the madnass completely took hold, Aerys began to laugh hysterically, his laughter echoed off the walls of the empty throne room, causing a cold shiver to run down both Jaime and the guards back.
"So, the lion joined the stag, falcon, fish and wolf in the end. Well now it's time they all learn what it means to WAKE THE DRAGON! Burn them! Burn them all! They want my throne, they can have the rumble. Light the Wildfire caches under the city! Burn them all!" The Mad Kings shouted manically as he began to jump around.
Just as the guard went to leave to carry out the order, Jaime came to his senses and threw his dagger which embedded into the back of the guards skull, killing him before he could shout the order given.
Pulling out his sword he ran the Mad King thru the back, puncturing his heart. The Mad King fell, even as he slowly died he continued to repeat his order, "Burn them all!"
Jaime, shocked by what had just done, sat on the top step, he knew everyone would think he was involved and betrayed his oath, even if he told them what happened and why he did it no one would believe him at all.
As he sat there reeling in misery for what he had done, the image of a cute brown haired girl with purple eyes and snuggling with a small black kitten and a black haired boy flashed in his mind.
"Rhaenys, Aiden, Aegon.... Oh no! No! No! No! I must save them." Jaime thought as he quickly got to his feet, grabbed his dagger from the guards head and ran as fast as he could.
As he drew closer to where Elia and the children were kept he began to see the bodies of the guards who were stationed to guard the area. Seeing this Jaime's heart sank, he prayed to the Seven that he would make it in time.
As he got closer and more and more guards were seen dead on the floor, he rushed faster, pushing past the exhaustion and the burning from his muscles screaming for rest, Jaime finally made it to the room Elia and the children were kept.
What he saw made his heart sink, there was a large cut in the door and blood was pouring from underneath the door.
Afraid of what he would find on the other side of the door, Jaime let out a roar of anger, and charged the door with all his strength. He would avenge those kids, even if it was the last thing he did.
As soon as Jaime burst through the door, the sight before him was something he would never forget until the day he drew his last breathe.
