As Wyatt charged forward, Bellamy immediately got to work with the vials of acid. Although Wyatt had completely drained his mana in order to produce these few vials, Bel still didn't have enough acid to completely burn a large hole through the door.
In order to make up for the lack of quantity, Bel's plan was to carefully burn a large circle around the perimeter of the door. He hoped that the acid would be potent enough to weaken the circle enough for him to just push the middle section out with his pure strength.
Of course, this in itself is a large gamble because he still couldn't guarantee that he had enough acid, or that he was strong enough to push the remaining middle section. Despite this, if they wanted Wyatt's plan to work, Bel had no choice but to take a gamble here.
While Bellamy was fully focused on his actions, Wyatt was currently engaged in the most stressful run of his life.
SMASH
Barely diving forward in time, Wyatt could only look back in horror as the boss's large reptilian tail smash into the ground where he just previously stood. Even after avoiding the attack, Wyatt could feel the ground beneath him shaking from the tail's impact.
WIND HOP
Immediately using his skill to create some distance between them, Wyatt prepared to continue his little game of cat and mouse.
Throughout this initial engagement against Ergus, Wyatt had already started producing some of his DROWSY gas in hopes to dim the boss's focus.
Ergus clearly wasn't trying to give the intruders any chance to run away, as he quickly launched forward in chase. Appearing above Wyatt, he immediately swiped down at his head with his claws.
Luckily, due to his high agility and buffs from Bel, Wyatt managed barely to duck underneath the swinging arm in time to dodge. As the arm nearly grazed the side of his face, Wyatt could suddenly feel a wave of heat brush against him.
Caught off guard by the heat, Wyatt failed to notice the reptilian tail appearing behind him.
BANG
Wyatt didn't even have time to react before he was sent crashing into a nearby wall.
Hearing the loud crashing noise, Bel quickly turned around in horror "YOU OKAY?". For a few seconds, there was no reply to Bellamy's question. Just as Bel was about to rush over to help, he suddenly heard.
COUGH
COUGH... COUGH
"ye...yeah, I'm good... I think" Wyatt muttered while wobbling out of the dust cloud that formed from his impact against the wall. Wyatt could still feel his brain shaking from the impact, as he tried to refocus on Ergus.
After another couple of seconds of dizziness, Wyatt finally noticed the flashing status above him.
[-95 hp]
"crap...."
Even after taking the hit, Wyatt couldn't help being surprised by the damage he took. Losing 95 health meant that this was by far the most damage Wyatt had ever taken in a single hit. It also meant that without any healing, he could only handle a total of 3 such attacks.
Refocusing on his battle, Wyatt finally discovered why he felt the heating sensation that distracted him earlier. The boss's original black claws had now changed into a dark orange shade. Focusing on these changes, Wyatt noticed a light sizzling effect appearing on the end of the claws.
Soon after a faint red flame also appeared on the claws. Realizing that the boss could also control fire, Wyatt could only mentally sigh in discomfort before charging forward to continue the plan.
This time, however, Wyatt had no plans to even let the boss get near him. Instead, he chose to never stop moving and started running in a circle around the room.
Noticing the intruders' passive movements, Ergus became even more enraged as he tried to speed up in order to quickly kill the human pest.
Fortunately, the boss didn't have any self buffs or speed attacks, so no matter how hard he tried Ergus couldn't catch up to Wyatt. Another 3 minutes passed before Wyatt noticed the boss's movements visibly becoming sloppier due to his DROWSY skill.
Although it wasn't a big change, Wyatt now had enough confidence to avoid the boss long enough for Bel to finish his part of the plan.
Luckily, Wyatt didn't have to wait much longer before he heard his partner's familiar voice.
"READY!"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep within the chimera lab, Lukas and his team had just arrived in the same laboratory where Wyatt and Bellamy had fought the flying chimeras not long ago.
BLECH
One of the weaker members of the group immediately gagged as they stumbled upon the dead bird that Wyatt had finished with his acidic touch. The melted face looked like something right out of a horror film.
Looking over at his disappointing team, Lukas started examing the dead chimera.
"It looks the same as the big crocodile we saw when we first entered..." he mumbled to himself.
"Does that mean one of the members of his group has a skill powerful enough to melt a chimeras face?" Lukas's teammate with the tracking skill questioned while walking up to the corpse.
Many of the weaker members' faces started contorting in fear and horror at the thought of such a powerful skill. If such a skill was strong enough to melt a powerful chimera like this, they didn't even want to imagine how painful it would be if used on one of them.
Noticing his team's discomfort, Lukas immediately tried to calm everyone down.
"We still don't know if it's a skill! remember only 2 of the chimeras we have seen so far are like this. Maybe they spent all their money on a powerful poison or potion in order to help clear this dungeon" he calmly declared, before refocusing everyone to continue.
"Even if it is a skill, there's no way they will have enough mana to use such a powerful ability after a boss fight!" Although he was the one that was confidently saying this, Lukas also felt some slight discomfort while staring at the melted chimera in front of him.
Hearing their leader's words, the members couldn't help but agree that his words made the most sense. There is no way a skill like that could be used continuously.
So with new confidence, the team once again prepared to continue their journey.
Stepping forward, Lukas was about to lead his team around the corner to leave the laboratory when suddenly a familiar face appeared.
"TWITE!"
"Oh, hey Lukas long time no see" Wyatt replied, with a light smile on his face.
Before Lukas could even comprehend the situation to reply, Wyatt didn't waste a second before running right passed his entire team. Not a single member had time to move before they suddenly felt the ground beneath them shaking.
