"Eastern blockade?" Wyatt questioned
"Sigh.. yep it seems your teacher won't be returning to the center for a while" she replied giving Wyatt a dejected look.
"What's the eastern blockade? is it far away?" he asked
"You've never heard of the eastern blockade? strange, it's very common knowledge but sure ill tell you" Middle age lady proceeded to pull out a map of the kingdom before pointing to a forest next to the northeastern border.
"First of all the kingdom we live in is known as Zigural. Along our eastern border is a forest known as Velum! understand everything so far?" she asked him
Getting a nod from the curious boy she giggled and continued "This forest is what's known as a dynamic temperature zone because the weather inside constantly fluctuates. Due to these weather changes the beasts within migrate between our kingdom and our eastern neighbor the Synorin empire every couple of months. Back in the day, these migrations would lead to dozens of nearby villages being swarmed and many citizens losing their lives so 150 years ago the king of the time built a massive wall between Velum and the rest of the kingdom"
"This area is what we call the eastern blockade and every couple months when the migration happens every city throughout the kingdom is obliged to send at least 2 high ranking combatants as well a troop of 40 trained warriors. The two combatants are chosen at random every migration and unluckily Lady Saleen seems to have been chosen this time"
Finally understanding the situation Wyatt couldn't help feeling disappointed before asking "Sigh, how long does this blockade mission usually last?" he asked
"Usually the high ranking leaders only have to stay for a week or two until the initial migration rampage settles down" She told him trying to reassure the boy
"Thanks for the help" Wyatt thanked the lady before leaving the centre
Now that his plan of training with his teacher is put on hold Wyatt decided to wander around the city until he found something interesting to do.
As Wyatt was walking through the city's shopping district he started hearing different conversations revolving around some noble putting a bounty on someone so out of curiosity he decided to ask a guard for information.
"A couple of days ago the famous assassin Rykan invaded the home of Baron Ellis and assassinated his oldest son William Ellis before managing to escape. According to Barons story, he managed to attack the intruder before they managed to escape gravely injuring him. Baron Ellis has since put out a bounty saying anyone who delivers the head of Rykan to him will be greatly rewarded.
Throwing the bounty to the back of his mind Wyatt continued his search for an interesting quest.
"Hello, sir do you have any hunting missions available?" Wyatt asked the owner of one of the local weapon shops.
"Sorry kid with the influx of young adventures my store will be fully packed for a while" the old man informed him
SIGH
this was the 6th shop owner Wyatt had asked and every time he got the exact same response. Wyatt knew that he could easily take some ingredient quests or helping people around the city but those quests didn't really interest him.
Thanking the man the dejected Wyatt was turning around to leave the shop
"Wait!" the old man called out
"I might not have any hunting quests but if want to do something interesting I might have a good recommendation" he told Wyatt.
Wyatt turned and gave the old store owner a curious glance as he waited for him to continue.
"The Myroc tower trials are going to open again today so if you're interested in testing yourself you should check it out"
"Myroc tower trials?" Wyatt Questioned the man
Nodding his head the old man continued "Myroc is a small town to the north of us and a long time ago a great mage built a magical tower outside the town to help him find talented students. During his time alive the great mage would often reward talented adventures who managed to impress him. Since his passing, the mages living in Myroc have carried on his tradition by opening a trial for new adventurers every 6 months"
Wyatt thought the trial sounded pretty interesting so after asking the old man for directions to Myroc he finally decided on his next adventure.
As Wyatt left the weapon shop a group of 4 appeared from around the corner watching him leave before following him from a distance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arriving at Myroc only 20 minutes later Wyatt was surprised that the town had a completely different feeling than his own starting city. The town of Myroc appeared to be completely built for mages everywhere he looked Wyatt could see residents using magic for every little chore from cleaning the streets to cooking. Because of this reliance on mana, even the buildings seemed to have a faint glow which only added to the beautifully magical feeling of the town.
After admiring the town for a bit and asking a local citizen for directions Wyatt made his way to the Magic Tower.
Thousands of players surrounded the tower waiting for the trials to open. Everywhere Wyatt looked he could see the excited faces of players hoping to prove themselves and maybe even win a reward waiting for the trial to start.
VOOOOSH
No less than 10 minutes later a loud sound caught everyones attention as they look up and saw someone floating above them
"WELCOME EVERYONE TO THE BIANNUAL MYROC TOWER TRIALS"
