Mi was fine. Slept through the night without any issues. I even felt safe to leave him at the crack of dawn to deliver his present to Kaylee’s stall. The Black Market is quiet first thing. Dark too as no oil lamps are lit. I fumble around in pitch black trying to find the stall I need. Bump into every other stall on the way. Getting back to Mi’s is a relief. I crawl into my makeshift bed on the floor without him realising I left. I honestly don’t think I shall be needed as a rehab buddy much longer. Yesterday was a bad day, I expect today to be much kinder.
My instincts were right. Today was normal. We got through a whole day of school without having an outburst or mentioning marijuana. Now we’re off to the skate park for our usual after school session and look who is practising on the smallest ramp. Kaylee runs over when she sees us coming.
“Thanks for the board. I love it.”
“It’s scuffed up I’m afraid.”
“No problem. Has character. Will you teach me tricks today?”
