"Where is this place?"
Isaac landed on the ground with a thud, feeling dazed as he rubbed his head and looked around. He was wearing a dinosaur onesie and clearly confused.
It was just a moment ago when he had been singing on the rooftop at night, saw a circle filled with green light, and reached out to touch it. How did he get sucked in?
"I haven't even checked my college entrance exam results yet! Hey! Is anyone here?"
Supporting his sore rear, Isaac stood up and surveyed his desolate surroundings, seeing nothing but a dense forest.
With no response, Isaac resigned himself to the situation, picking up a branch from the ground and tossing it into the air.
"Alright, I'll head this way."
Following the direction the branch pointed, Isaac dragged the dinosaur tail of his onesie behind him, kicking aside low shrubs as he moved forward.
After pushing through another clump of bushes, Isaac was about to continue when he suddenly felt like he had kicked something. Looking down, he saw it.
"W-what the...?!"
A huge caterpillar, as big as Isaac's forearm, was clinging to his shoe.
Panic set in, and Isaac quickly kicked his foot hard, flinging the giant caterpillar away.
"Chuu~"
The caterpillar, with Y-shaped red antennae, fell to the ground, blinking its large eyes with a human-like look of grievance, and made a sound that surprised Isaac.
"Holy crap, a caterpillar that looks like this and can make sounds... is this a close relative of the Caterpie from Pokémon?"
Isaac thought curiously as he observed it more closely.
"!?!! Is this really a Caterpie?"
In addition to the distinct features he had just seen, the yellow ring-shaped markings on its body segments, the green body, and the yellow tail, this Caterpie looked exactly like the one Isaac had grown up watching in Pokémon!
Did he somehow travel to the Pokémon world?
The thought of this left Isaac shocked but then excited. Who would have thought such a good thing could happen?
In the shows he had watched, the main characters had to die or get into accidents to travel to another world, but here he was, able to travel without dying. Heh heh heh, this felt pretty good.
Confirming that he had indeed arrived in the Pokémon world, Isaac paid no more attention to the Caterpie.
Caterpie, as a Pokémon, had weak combat power and a short lifespan. Isaac, considering himself a traveler to this world, thought he ought to at least aim to catch a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, if not a legendary one, to match his status as a traveler.
As he continued forward, fantasizing about how powerful he would become in this new world, beating the Elite Four and crushing legendary Pokémon, he completely forgot that the most dangerous places in the Pokémon world were the undeveloped forests.
While walking, Isaac encountered another Caterpie, much smaller than the previous one, looking like it had just hatched, crawling adorably on the ground.
Isaac wasn't afraid of bugs to begin with. He had just been startled by the sudden appearance of the giant Caterpie. After all, he had never seen such a large caterpillar before.
Feeling playful, Isaac picked up the little Caterpie by its tail and stroked its antennae. Seeing the Caterpie's pitiful expression, he laughed and placed it on his shoulder.
A sturdy Pidgeotto perched high in a tree noticed a green creature with a thick tail and its favorite snack, Caterpie.
Eyeing the Caterpie on the green creature's shoulder, the Pidgeotto decided to grab a snack.
"Lululu~ Caterpie~ isn't it fun?"
Isaac was busy teasing the Caterpie, which tried to crawl up his arm but was repeatedly flicked back by him.
Suddenly, a strong wind blew past, and an orange figure darted by Isaac, stopping in mid-air.
Isaac looked closely and saw a Pidgeotto. Why was it messing with him?
Following Pidgeotto's sharp gaze to the Caterpie, Isaac was startled.
"Oh no, don't eat this Caterpie!"
Having just teased the cute little thing, Isaac didn't want it to become Pidgeotto's meal, so he hurriedly cradled the Caterpie, forgetting he had no way to combat the Pidgeotto.
Seeing Isaac protect the Caterpie, Pidgeotto considered them allies and decided to deal with this green monster first.
With a flap of its wings, Pidgeotto dived toward Isaac, who ran away in a panic, the dinosaur tail of his onesie flailing, becoming the biggest hindrance in his escape.
Missing its first strike, Pidgeotto hovered and began forming a gust of wind.
With a powerful flap, the wind hit Isaac hard, sending him flying and rendering him unconscious.

Slowly opening his eyes, Isaac awoke from his faint to find Caterpie lying motionless in front of him, its body pierced by something sharp, green blood flowing out.
Isaac felt a deep sadness, realizing his playful behavior had led to Caterpie's death. Struggling to his feet, he also noticed Pidgeotto lying unconscious nearby.
"What happened? Why is it knocked out too?"
While Isaac was still puzzled, a Pokémon with a pink horn resembling a hair clip and wearing a white dress floated before him, looking at him with interest.
"Are you… Kirlia?"
Isaac exclaimed in surprise.
Kirlia nodded and floated closer, causing Isaac to step back.
Seeing this, Kirlia used its psychic powers to immobilize him, raised its hand, and placed it on his chest.
A strange sensation spread from Isaac's chest, followed by a mechanical electronic voice in his mind.
[Life force detected, system activating, please wait…]
[System activation progress: 20%…]

[System activation complete, host binding complete]
[Host identity information updated, newbie package delivered, tasks released, please mentally recite the relevant names to view specific information]
Kirlia had already withdrawn its hand. It had only wanted to check for anything unusual on this human, but had ended up absorbing some of the life force granted by Celebi, which made it quite unhappy.
Shocked, Isaac mentally recited, "Identity information."
