Capítulo 6: Chapter 6

- Pewter city, outside Pewter gym

After resolving the cranidos issue I headed towards the gym to register for a challenge. Arriving outside, I could see a sign that said `Closed´ however, I could clearly hear the voices of some kids nearby along with one that I recignise from the anime.

Walking around the gym building, I could see that it was situated on top of a small hill that had a view over the residentual area of Pewter. Following the voices, I noticed a house that stood the closest to the hill that consisted of an almost traditional japanese style house with a sizeable back garden.

Having seen the house that could be recognised from the anime, I walked down the rocky path that led to the front door. Arriving in front of the door I knocked, and no more than a minute later it was opened by a young boy around the age of ten that had closed eyes and a dark shade of brown colored hair.

"Hello? What do you need?" The boy asked.

"Hello there. Im looking for Brock, is he here?" I smiled at the kid to show that Im friendly. The kid nodded and quickly ran back inside. I could hear some yelling and rummaging before a man I could only describe as a rock in human form came nearly flying towards the door. However he stopped himself before he could hit me. He looked around for a bit before he looked back inside and yelled.

"Forrest, I thought you said there was a pretty girl at the door looking for me!? I should have known it was too good to be true." He said dejectedly before he was about to close the door. I slightly coughed in my hands with a bit of laughter in between at his antics that hadnt changed.

Having heard my cough, Brock stopped closing the door and looked down, finally noticing me.

"Im sorry, but Im not interested in children..." That comment ticked me off immensely, so I lifted a clenched fist and jumped up before knocking him on his head.

"Augh! What was that for!?"

"First of all, Im not a kid. Second of all, I just came here to find you since the gym was closed. And third, I am not a girl!" Brock stopped in his tracks hearing this, but soon recollected himself and stood straight with a professional facial expression.

"Then welcome to Pewter city, I am brock the current gym leader."

"Rimuru Tempest. Here to challenge your gym." He nodded at my answer.

"Sadly I have prior commitments, but I can schedule a battle for tomorrow. Is that alright?"

"Yeah thats fine, I have a room at the center so I can wait till then." He nodded.

"In that case please excuse me. We will meet at midday." He said before closing the door, leaving me to my thoughts.

"He seemed more serios than the show. I wonder what the difference in character came from. Was it Ash? Or was it the time difference?"

I kept muttering to myself as I headed back to the pokemon center to leave my bags in my room. Having done that, I left the area, and entered the forest again. After entering, I released all my pokemon and explained my plan.

"Okay guys. We just got another member, but he is a bit agressive, so when I release him I want Victini to keep him in place until he has the chance to calm down, understood?" I asked and they all nodded. Seeing their confirmation, I took out a pokeball and threw it, making it release the still familiar bright light, indicating a pokemon was coming out.

From the light came a gray, dinosaur-like Pokémon. It has a hooked beak, red irises, and a hard, blue, dome-shaped head with four spikes on its back. It has stubby arms with three claws, despite the stubbiness, it seems to be able to attack with them. The back half of its body has a large, spiky pattern of blue and it has a short tail. It has feet with three forward claws and one backward.

Victini was quick to lift the pokemon with psychic energy, holding it in place while letting it blow off some steam. . . . . . . . We waited for over half an hour before the pokemon finally started to lose its momentum. Victini was also close to use up its energy, so when the cranidos had finally calmed down, he had the opportunity to calm down and relax.

While we waited for cranidos to calm itself I had thought back to a question I had asked professor Oak once.

- Flashback: second week at the lab.

I was training my pokemon in the field at the back of the lab when professor Oak walked outside to have a look. I noticed him and gave a greeting.

"Good morning professor."

"Good morning my boy. How is training going?"

"Its going good. They have made quite a leap in abilities since we started training."

"Thats good." He said and we stood there watching for a while before a thought flashed through my mind.

"Hey professor?" I called, catching his attention.

"I was wondering, considering that every pokemon that I have, have never been hostile. How can I calm a rampaging pokemon before potentially capturing it?"

"Hm, thats a good question." He said while scratching his chin in thought.

"There are many species that inherently have a bad temper. But what I myself have found especially effective is to allow them to blow off some steam before appealing to that pokemons desires."

"Their desires, huh."

"Yes. Some pokemon wants to heal, others want to get stronger and some want to travel and so on."

"I see. Thank you professor."

- Flashback end.

As cranidos sat on the ground catching its breath, I walked forward, causing my pokemon to be on guard. I knelt down in front of the downed pokemon and spoke.

"Cranidos." It looked up at me.

"I know that you might have been scared and confused getting revived from a fossil into a time that was different from your own, and I respect that, but now that you are a bit calmer let me ask this." The cranidos had all its attention on me.

"Why dont you travel with us. That way, you can see the world that is different from your own." I stretched out a hand.

"Lets get stronger together and fight many strong opponents together." I gave a genuine smile to the little dinosaur. It looked at my hand as if in contemplation. A few minutes passed before it finally answered by putting its rock hard head into the palm of my outstretched hand. I smiled at the gesture.

"Its nice to have you aboard." All of my pokemon cheered, some more than others seeing as riolu tried to be the stoic type.

"We have today off, so get to know eachother and have some fun you guys." I told them before they started their bonding session.

- Timeskip: next morning 09:30, rented room, pokemon center.

I woke up from my sleep and thought back to the day before. It had been nice to get cranidos to calm down enough to speak to it, but the day had also been tiring as me and my pokemon had played around the entire afternoon, getting back to the pokemon center quite late and changing into my sleepwear.

I sat up from the bed and looked around the room. The room was a bit narrow, with a bunk bed on each side of the room and a small table between them under a window. There was a short hall that led to the exit next to a door that led to the bathroom. On the bed on the opposite side of the room, I could see my pokemon sleeping while cuddling up to eachother except for victini, who usually sleeps next to me.

Standing up from my bed, I stretched causing my big green hoodie to rise above the edge of the bike shorts I used as nightwear, and show a bit of my stomach. I just walked to a corner of the room and pulled out some bowls that I used for pokemon food, and filled them with my own blend, and put the next to the bed so that they can eat it when they wake up. Afterwards I head to the bathroom, and do my usual morning routine, brush my teeth, take a shower and so on before heading back inside to change clothes.

I put on a black half-breastplate over a sleeveless mesh bodysuit, a white scarf with red flower pattern, black arm gloves with metal bracers, black hakama pants and black boots with metal plate around the shin and instep. And to finish it off, I pulled my hair into a high ponytail.

"Might be a bit much, but hey, new world new me." I laughed to myself.

Having dressed, I returned to the beds where I saw that my pokemon was awake and had started eating.

"Good morning everyone." I said to the with a smile. They all greeted back and continued to eat to which I chuckled. I also pulled out some food, and started eating with the others.

- Timeskip a couple hours.

I walked down the street towards the gym while just humming to myself. As usual, victini sat on my shoulder while riolu walked next to me.

"You two." I said catchin their attention.

"This battle Im going to start with you, riolu." Riolu looked at me in happiness.

"This is also training, so make sure to take advantage of that as we fight."

"Rio!" Riolu nodded in agreement. I just smiled and patted his head.

We soon arrived outside the gym, and this time the closed sign was gone, leading me to believe that Brock was inside already, so I entered. When inside I could see the lights were out, so I knew that Brock was about to make his appearence. I just walked forward and stood where I could see the white lines indicating my position as a trainer.

The light flicked on as soon as I stood in my dedicated spot, revealing Brock on the other side of the field that was filled with rock, sitting cross-legged on a rock of his own with his arms crossed.

"Welcome to Pewter gym. I am the gym leader Brock and in this gym we specialize in rock-type pokemon. Let me ask, how many badges do you have?"

"I am Rimuru Tempest, and this is my first gym battle." I answered. He just nodded before a hidden compartement opened in the rock he sat on, revealing a tray with six pokeballs. He picked up two pokeballs before standing on the opposite marked field.

"Since this is your first gym battle, this is a two-on-two battle. You as the challenger have the right to change pokemon while I do not. The battle ends when one side either forfeits, or have no more useable pokemon. Are you ready?" He spoke.

"Yes I am ready. Riolu, you are up first." I said. Riolu ran into the field and stood in front of me.

"Good. Geodude, youre up first." He said as he threw his first pokeball into the field. The pokemon formed, showing a rock shaped pokemon with two sturdy looking arms.

"Geodude!" It cried out as it appeared and flexed its arms.

"Then if you are ready, LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!"
