Chapter 32: A Secret Realm Robbery?
---
The secret realm.
At a secluded spot near the central lake, ripples danced across the azure water as Goldeen leaped gracefully from beneath the surface. Occasionally, Lotad would skim the edges of the lake, their movements blending seamlessly with the natural beauty of the scene.
Amidst the rustling bushes by a narrow creek feeding into the lake, a small figure emerged—a creature resembling a toad, carrying a seed on its back that had yet to bloom.
"Bulba, bulba?" the Bulbasaur croaked, its tone curious.
Standing beside it was Sayaka, the trainer known to Hikaru as the girl with a Lord-tier Bulbasaur.
Sayaka gently pulled Bulbasaur behind her, whispering, "I know, the closer we get to this spot, the richer the Light Water Stones become. Goldeen need these."
She glanced around cautiously, her eyes scanning the tranquil waters of the lake. When she saw no immediate threats, she let out a sigh of relief.
Light Water Stones, she knew, were rare treasures infused with energy from flowing water. These stones, when placed in tanks, significantly accelerated the growth of Water-type Pokémon.
Sayaka came from a modest background. Though her resources were limited, she was fearless in taking risks.
Her Bulbasaur wasn't purchased from a Pokémon breeding house. It was a lucky encounter in the Green Maple Secret Realm.
For her, this secret realm exploration was a golden opportunity, one she couldn't pass up—even if it meant venturing into potentially dangerous territory.
"Wow, another one!" Sayaka exclaimed, bending down to pick up a crystalline stone near the confluence of the creek and the lake.
Nearby, Bulbasaur played happily in the water, seemingly forgetting the wild dangers of the untamed wilderness. However, neither of them realized a pair of sinister eyes were already fixed upon them.
---
"Light Water Stones?" Hikaru muttered to himself as he wandered along a nearby creek after lunch. "Even the lowest quality ones go for 5,000 credits per kilogram?"
As he scanned the creek bed, he noticed the faint glimmer of energy-infused objects beneath the water. Without hesitation, he began collecting them, his Aura guiding him toward the most concentrated energy sources.
Eventually, he traced the trail of stones to a spot near the lake.
Just as he was about to continue his search, his Aura picked up something alarming—several masked figures surrounding a girl.
That girl...
No way!
Someone was robbing people in the secret realm? And a fellow student at that?
Hikaru couldn't tolerate such behavior. Activating his Eye of Insight, he quickly assessed the levels of their Pokémon.
---
"One Gloom at level 23, a Pidgeotto at level 21, and a few weaker ones around level 15 or 16," Hikaru whispered, formulating his plan.
"Charmeleon, I'll equip you with the Stealth Cloak entry. You sneak in and take out that Gloom with a single blow.
"Ralts, once Charmeleon finishes the Gloom, use your Psychic Cone to take down the Pidgeotto. Pull it into the water while it's stunned. Got it?"
Ralts tilted its head, its soft voice full of confidence. "Ralts!" (No problem, Hikaru!)
"Char!" (Piece of cake!) Charmeleon thumped its chest, ready to act.
Aiming to give the thieves no chance to recover, Hikaru made his move.
---
"Hand over the Light Water Stones in your backpack," one of the masked men sneered at Sayaka.
"You wish! Goldeen, Water Gun!" Sayaka shouted, her voice trembling with defiance.
Goldeen leaped elegantly from the creek, a powerful stream of water shooting from its mouth.
"Gloom, Razor Leaf!" the man commanded, his tone sharp.
Several sharp green leaves cut through the air, slicing Goldeen's Water Gun apart before striking the Pokémon mid-leap. The force of the attack sent scales scattering from Goldeen's body.
"Goldeen, return!" Sayaka recalled her injured Pokémon, holding back tears as she glared at the thieves. Her hand hovered over a signal flare. She knew that activating it would summon help within three minutes but would also end her exploration prematurely.
"Don't let her activate the flare! Gloom, Vine Whip—"
"Charmeleon, Flamethrower!" Hikaru's voice rang out, interrupting the man's command.
A torrent of flames, thick as a water barrel, erupted from the shadows, engulfing Gloom before it could react.
The Stealth Cloak entry had been crucial to this ambush. It rendered the user invisible until they attacked, making Charmeleon's assault completely unexpected.
As Gloom collapsed, its body smoldering, Pidgeotto flapped its wings in confusion. Before it could react, a psychic force hit its mind like a hammer. Disoriented, it fell into the creek below, wings flailing helplessly.
In mere moments, the two strongest Pokémon among the thieves were rendered useless.
---
"Is that...Hikaru?" Sayaka exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with surprise and relief.
She watched in awe as the masked men's most formidable Pokémon were defeated in seconds. Wasn't it just a short while ago that Hikaru was still competing in the league? When had he become this powerful?
"Who are you?" one of the thieves demanded, fear creeping into his voice as he noticed Hikaru's school uniform.
Hikaru smirked, his tone calm yet menacing. "No time for questions. Hand over every treasure you've looted from this secret realm—now."
The tables had turned.
---
Half an hour later, the masked men fled, stripped of their treasures and dignity, their Pokémon in tow.
Hikaru grinned as he surveyed the spoils. "Well, Sayaka-senpai, let's split the loot."
"Really? I get a share?" Sayaka asked, her voice tinged with disbelief and joy.
"Of course! You were here too. Besides, it's not like I can enjoy this alone," Hikaru teased, his tone lighthearted.
As they laughed, a sudden shift in the atmosphere made Hikaru's smile freeze. From the depths of the lake, dark currents began to swirl. A massive, serpentine head broke the surface, water streaming from its scaled visage.
It was a Gyarados.
