Capítulo 333: Chapter 333

The Pokémon Coordination Contest was an idea that had existed for a long time.

The contest venue in Alliance City was built almost simultaneously with the battle tournament arena. However, while the battle arena had already hosted its first tournament, the coordination contest venue remained unused even a year later.

There were several reasons for the delay, the most significant being a general lack of understanding or definition of what a coordination contest truly was.

For a battle tournament, the concept was straightforward: it revolved around battles, no matter the format.

But was the essence of a coordination contest simply "coordination"?

Indeed, it was.

Initially, when Dak explained the rules to Perona and other judges, they assumed the core of a coordination contest was "performance."

However, performance was merely the means through which a coordination trainer's abilities were showcased.

The true focus of the coordination contest was to highlight the charm of Pokémon through two different stages.

A qualified coordination trainer needed to harmonize the relationship between themselves, their Pokémon, and the Pokémon's skills. They had to present these skills in ways that amplified the Pokémon's appeal while demonstrating their bond with their trainer.

This was the key distinction between a battle tournament and a coordination contest.

While battle tournaments also emphasized the cooperation between trainers and their Pokémon, the Pokémon alone were the main stars.

In battle tournaments, showcasing strength was paramount, with the focus on the effectiveness rather than the aesthetics of skill execution. The process was often intense and exhilarating.

Conversely, the coordination contest spotlighted both the Pokémon and the trainer, with the emphasis on the artistic and harmonious presentation of skills.

The contest appealed to those less interested in battles but still deeply passionate about Pokémon.

Over the past year, Perona and her fellow judges had gradually grasped the scoring system for coordination contests.

Judging criteria included skill combinations, the harmony between trainer and Pokémon, and the trainer's involvement in the performance. Scoring was more intricate compared to battle tournaments.

At the Alliance base, a small meeting was underway.

Present were Robin, Dak's secretary; Perona, head of the judging department; Tezoro, head of finance; and Morgans, the president of Big News Corporation, who attended as an observer without speaking privileges.

Dak intended to leverage the media's influence to accelerate the promotion of coordination contests, which was why Morgans had been invited.

"Since we've decided to hold the coordination contest, what will the registration process look like? Will it be similar to the battle tournament?" Robin asked, ensuring she could properly delegate tasks.

"Similar, but not identical," Dak replied, taking out a box from his pocket.

Opening it revealed five intricately designed ribbons.

Everyone leaned closer to examine them, and Morgans snapped a photo for promotional purposes.

"To register for the Pokémon Coordination Contest, participants must collect five ribbons. However, there's no fixed location to obtain them—only a consistent method."

"Any city with an appropriate stage and Pokémon Center may host a coordination contest. Tezolo, your department will announce such events a week in advance."

As coordination contests required funding and logistical arrangements, this responsibility was delegated to Tezolo.

"Leave it to me! By the way, can I be the host?" Tezolo eagerly asked, patting his chest.

A former singer, Tezolo loved the spotlight. Though his singing days were behind him, he still cherished the feeling of being on stage.

"Of course. If you have time, go ahead. Normally, this would fall under Perona's department," Dak agreed readily.

"Is winning the contest the only way to earn a ribbon?" Perona inquired, needing clarity for the judges under her supervision.

"Exactly. Only the winners will receive ribbons," Dak confirmed. "The requirements are strict because only the best coordination trainers can compete in the Grand Contest."

The Coordination Contest differed from battle tournaments in its entry requirements.

While battle tournaments only required eight gym badges, coordination contests demanded winning against peers in smaller contests to earn ribbons.

Though fewer trainers qualified for the Grand Contest, those who did were the crème de la crème.

"I see. The first coordination contest will be held a week from now in Yggdrasil. I'll perform on stage during the event," Dak announced, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

This coincided with the day Mew and Celebi would begin selecting the "Aura Guardian" and "World Tree Protector," promising an eventful time.

The Next Day

Near the Alliance City staff residential area, posters for the Pokémon Coordination Contest had been put up.

"Hey, Minato, this looks fun! Should we join?" Kushina exclaimed, her excitement evident.

Having enrolled Naruto in Pokémon Academy, Kushina was delighted with her newfound free time, often dragging Minato out for dates.

"I'm too busy. You should join, Kushina. Naruto and I will cheer you on," Minato replied, balancing his responsibilities as the Fourth Hokage.

"But it wouldn't be fun without you," Kushina pouted.

Minato chuckled warmly, reluctant to dampen her spirits but too occupied with village duties to participate.

The rules for the coordination contest were also posted.

First Round: Performance Stage

Trainers would perform individually, showcasing their Pokémon through singing, dancing, skill demonstrations, or any other creative means to highlight their charm.

Judges would score each performance, with the top 20 advancing to the second round.

Second Round: Battle Stage

Though similar to regular Pokémon battles, this round introduced a unique scoring system. Judges evaluated not only successful attacks but also their elegance and execution.

The final winner would receive a trophy and the title of "Coordination Master."

In the Pokémon world, Coordination Masters were often more renowned than regional champions due to the contest's broad appeal and televised coverage.

"This looks so exciting! Even if we don't join, we should watch it. It'll be amazing," Minato suggested, aiming to please Kushina.

The first contest would be held in Yggdrasil, a city known for its tranquility and beauty—a perfect spot for a date, Kushina thought.

"Let's go, Minato!" Kushina said eagerly, her eyes lighting up.

Sighing in defeat, Minato relented. "Alright. I'll ask the Third Hokage to handle things for a couple of days."

Capítulo 334: Chapter 334

On the fifth day back in Alliance City, Izuna returned from Vegapunk with a pair of cloned eyes.

According to Izuna, they felt no different from his original eyes, though he would need to reawaken their abilities and strengthen his visual prowess. With this, he headed back to the ninja world.

Meanwhile, Hanzo and Kakuzu brought a group of people from the ninja world to the Alliance City.

Before heading to Yggdrasil, Dak decided to finalize the appointments for the Agriculture and Legal Departments.

"The candidate I recommend for the Agriculture Department head is Uzumaki Akatsuki," Hanzo began. "He successfully fused with Hashirama's cells and can use Mokuton. His immense chakra reserves allow him to perform powerful Mokuton techniques."

Behind Hanzo and Kakuzu stood two youths, evidently their recommendations for department heads.

"Moreover," Hanzo continued, "Akatsuki is the son of Uzumaki Asahi and grew up under Akatsuki's care. He can be trusted."

"For the Legal Department, my recommendation is Chinoike Twilight," Kakuzu added, gesturing toward the red-eyed youth beside him.

"He's the son of Chinoike Patriarch and a member of the Nara clan. Like Akatsuki, he also grew up with Akatsuki, making him a reliable choice."

Though the Chinoike clan's red eyes often gave them a menacing aura, Twilight was an exception. His Nara genes imbued him with a calm and lazy demeanor, contrasting with his unsettling gaze.

Hanzo and Kakuzu's suggestions were well-considered.

Rather than appointing representatives from other villages or factions, it was safer to entrust these roles to their own people. Even if these candidates lacked exceptional talent, their loyalty and diligence were more valuable than risking infiltration by outsiders with hidden agendas.

"Alright," Dak agreed. "Assign personnel to their respective departments and finalize the lists for Robin to process."

After addressing these matters, Hanzo and Kakuzu waved their proteges away but lingered for another conversation.

"We also brought back a group of medical ninja this time," Hanzo revealed.

"While the doctors in the seafaring world are skilled, their techniques rely heavily on advanced technology and rare medicinal ingredients," Kakuzu elaborated. "When it comes to clinical surgery, they can't compare to medical ninja."

Dak had previously discussed reforming the medical department with Hanzo and Kakuzu, and they had clearly taken it to heart.

"But the key to the medical ninja's skill lies in their use of chakra," Dak pointed out. "That's impossible on Pokémon Island."

"That's your problem as the Alliance leader," Kakuzu replied nonchalantly. "Our mission is complete. I'm heading to Yamada Mountain to retire."

"Then I'll take up residence in Fish-Man City. Tentacool prefers the environment there," Hanzo added before departing.

Clearly, the two veterans were done with their responsibilities, eager to enjoy retirement after decades of service.

Sigh.

Dak sat at his desk, pulling out a sheet of paper to brainstorm solutions.

Medical ninja's prowess depended on their ability to use chakra during surgeries, particularly with techniques like the Mystical Palm. Without chakra, they couldn't match the current doctors on Pokémon Island.

Thanks to Vegapunk's research and technological contributions, Pokémon Island boasted advanced medical expertise, particularly in biotechnology. Additionally, the seafaring world's diverse environments provided a wealth of unique medicinal resources.

Combining these advantages, Pokémon Island's doctors had achieved impressive results.

To integrate the medical ninja effectively, Dak decided on a regulated approach:

Medical Practitioner Certification

Dak wrote this phrase at the top of the paper.

"Medical ninja must obtain a practitioner's certification. Upon receiving certification and completing a blood-binding ritual, they will gain limited access to chakra."

The process mirrored the method used to grant chosen individuals special powers.

Usage Restrictions

Full chakra access permitted in hospital operating rooms.

Half chakra capacity available in other hospital areas.

Minimal chakra usable outside the hospital for emergency care.

These restrictions aimed to prevent misuse of chakra for personal gain or harm. However, limited use outside hospitals ensured that medical ninja could respond to emergencies when necessary.

"Alright, that should work," Dak muttered, finalizing the document for submission to Reiju, the Medical Department head.

March 25, Year 2 of the Alliance Calendar

The first day of the "Aura Guardian" and "World Tree Protector" selection coincided with the debut of the Pokémon Coordination Contest.

Dak intentionally held the contest in Yggdrasil to facilitate Mew and Celebi's selection process.

With the event drawing crowds to the city, the two could observe numerous candidates in one location rather than searching across scattered areas.

The coordination contest venue was a grand opera house near the Pokémon Center beneath the World Tree.

The once-tranquil city bustled with activity as visitors filled its streets. Most, however, were inside the opera house, eagerly anticipating the event.

"Welcome to the City of the World Tree, where the debut of the Coordination Contest begins!" Tezolo announced enthusiastically, standing on stage with a golden microphone.

After explaining the contest's format and rules, Tezolo added:

"You've likely heard tales of the 'Primordial God' and the 'Forest God.'

"Today, you'll witness them firsthand!"

"Now, please welcome our Alliance leader, Dak, accompanied by the two legendary gods, as they present a special coordination performance!"

The opera house dimmed as Tezolo stepped offstage. Spotlights illuminated the stage, revealing Dak in a pristine white suit and a vine crown.

"Whoa!"

Cheers erupted as Dak appeared, joined by Mew and Celebi perched on his shoulders.

The adorable deities immediately captivated the audience.

Mew eagerly waved to the crowd, enjoying the attention, while Celebi clung nervously to Dak's hair, its timid expression endearing to all.

"Let's begin," Dak said softly, tapping the two Pokémon's foreheads.

"Grassy Terrain."

Mew and Celebi twirled into the air, scattering shimmering dust across the stage. Wherever the dust fell, vibrant flowers and greenery sprouted, filling the venue with a sweet floral aroma.

"Now, Mew, use psychic energy to mimic Grass Pledge."

"Celebi, mimic Magical Leaf with your psychic powers."

As Dak commanded, Mew created a massive pink grass pillar beneath Dak, lifting him high into the air.

Celebi released glowing pink leaves that circled the pillar, forming a radiant tree canopy.

The combination created the illusion of a luminous pink tree blooming in the heart of a garden, its fragrant leaves drifting toward the audience.

Each attendee found a glowing leaf in their hand as Dak and the two Pokémon bowed, concluding the breathtaking performance.
