Meanwhile...

Kirigakure, unaware of the attack on Takigakure, quickly found itself in trouble.

"Who goes there?!"

The Mist ninja guarding the gate shouted, though he barely glanced at the approaching figures.

With the Five Great Nations in a ceasefire, the likelihood of conflict was slim. Moreover, Kirigakure, isolated on its island, was difficult to attack. This geographical advantage left the Mist ninja complacent compared to their counterparts.

Crack.

The response was a swift hand to his throat.

As Madara entered the village with Izuna, he casually incapacitated the guard with a chokehold.

"We need to minimize casualties to avoid resentment from the villages we'll manage in the future," Madara muttered, massaging his temple.

Being a leader was more taxing than he'd anticipated. He had wanted to kill the guard outright but refrained.

"You're adjusting well," Izuna teased, his tone light as he scanned the surroundings. This was his first time in Kirigakure; most of his life had been spent battling the Senju in the Land of Fire.

"Right... I forgot to ask where the Three-Tails is. Oh well, no matter. A small fry like that guard wouldn't have known," Madara mused aloud.

The brothers' conspicuous attire had already drawn attention. Unlike Takigakure's slower response, the Mist ninja quickly mobilized. Within minutes, a large contingent led by the Third Mizukage approached.

"Third Mizukage!"

The gathered Mist ninja visibly relaxed at their leader's presence.

"Uchiha Madara?!"

The Third Mizukage's face paled.

While the Third Mizukage's name wasn't mentioned in the original story, he was known to be from the same era as the Second Kage of the other villages. He was older than even Onoki.

As a youth, he had served as the bodyguard for the First Mizukage during the initial summit of the Five Kage, where he had seen Madara's power firsthand.

"You... You were the squinting brat next to Byakuren," Madara said, recognizing him. His mood improved slightly at the familiarity. "Good. Tell me where the Three-Tails is, and I'll spare you. You should know I'm not bluffing."

The Mizukage's brows furrowed, his hesitation palpable.

If he handed over the Three-Tails, Kirigakure's reputation would be in shambles, and they would lose a critical asset for future conflicts. But if he didn't...

"You'd better cooperate," Izuna said, stepping forward. His presence made the Mizukage stiffen.

"Uchiha Izuna?!"

Recognition flashed in the Mizukage's eyes. Though Izuna appeared younger, his reputation as a peerless ninja was well known.

Faced with the legendary Uchiha brothers, the Mizukage sighed heavily and pointed toward a lake. "At the bottom of that lake."

"You're smarter than I expected," Madara said, turning to leave with Izuna.

The gathered Mist ninja watched in stunned silence, dread filling their hearts.

"Spread the word," the Mizukage ordered, his voice grim. "The Uchiha brothers are alive. Inform the other villages—warn their Kage. Konoha might be plotting something massive."

Despite his fear, the Mizukage followed the brothers to witness their strength firsthand.

What he saw left him speechless.

A colossal skeletal figure, over a hundred meters tall, emerged from Madara's chakra. It wielded four immense swords, plunging them into the lake to drag the Three-Tails to the surface.

The beast's shell and tails were hacked apart in a brutal display of power, its anguished cries echoing across the land.

This was the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan—the Susano'o, specifically Madara's third form.

Unlike the typical third form, which emphasized defense with armored features, Madara's variant had fully developed lower limbs, prioritizing offense.

Although Madara had regained only partial access to his former power, his mastery of Susano'o remained unparalleled.

Izuna, with only one Mangekyō active, could manage only the second form of Susano'o. Even so, their combined strength cemented their position as the pinnacle of the ninja world.

In the end, a massive black vortex appeared, swallowing the Three-Tails whole. The Mizukage could only watch in silence as the Uchiha brothers departed.

Three days after Kakuzu's recruitment, Dak found himself in Uzushio Village.

Taking on the guise of a merchant, Dak had entered the beleaguered settlement. Uzushio's situation was dire, with even the Land of Whirlpools cutting ties to avoid being dragged into impending conflicts.

Thus, any outsider willing to trade with the village was warmly welcomed—a stark contrast to the usual distrust found in ninja villages.

Sitting in a humble inn, Dak was meditating to refine his chakra.

He had tested his chakra attributes earlier using the chakra paper he'd purchased.

His results? Fire, Wind, and Water.

Dak likened his chakra reserves to a vast container with only a few drops of liquid—a reservoir with immense capacity but little content.

Thanks to his internal perception, augmented by psychic energy and Aura, he had a clear understanding of his body's chakra limits.

His physical and mental strength, enhanced to their peak by his abilities, placed his potential chakra reserves on par with or even surpassing the Uzumaki clan's.

However, Dak was acutely aware of his lack of experience and understanding of chakra manipulation, leaving his vast potential largely untapped.

"No rush," he murmured. His lifespan stretched far beyond the ordinary, granting him ample time to master his newfound powers.

But for now...

"Interesting," Dak muttered, his eyes snapping open.

In the distance, he sensed over a thousand individuals converging on Uzushio Village.

A storm was coming.

Capítulo 307: Chapter 307

In the past, the Uzumaki clan shared a blood bond with the Senju clan. Uzumaki Ashina, the head of the Uzumaki clan, had forged a friendship treaty with Senju Hashirama, the First Hokage, creating an alliance between the Land of Whirlpools and the Land of Fire.

The Uzumaki clan contributed significantly to the peace and development of Konoha, championing and embodying the Will of Fire. They earned the unwavering trust of Hashirama.

To highlight this bond, the Uzumaki symbol was prominently displayed on the uniforms of Konoha's jonin.

However, times had changed.

After Hashirama dispersed the Senju clan and obscured their name, the Uzumaki clan lost their closest allies within Konoha. Following the First Shinobi World War, both Hashirama and Tobirama died, leaving Konoha severely weakened.

Uzumaki Mito and Tsunade had little influence, and even if they did, there was no guarantee they would risk Konoha's dwindling strength to aid the Uzumaki clan.

There was even a slim possibility that Konoha's leadership never informed Mito about the Uzumaki clan's pleas for help.

Thus, the Uzumaki clan found themselves isolated and vulnerable, targeted by numerous ninja villages and countries.

Despite not producing any particularly dominant figures, the Uzumaki clan boasted a village of exceptionally skilled ninjas. Uzushiogakure's average strength surpassed most small ninja villages, and even a weakened Takigakure, now devoid of the Seven-Tails, could hardly compare.

The Uzumaki's strong vitality, vast chakra reserves, longevity, and mastery of powerful sealing techniques made their potential undeniable.

Most notably, their unique physique and sealing arts made them ideal Jinchūriki. They had the highest chances of surviving as a host for a tailed beast, which was critical in the ninja world.

Even hosting the weakest tailed beast would elevate the Uzumaki clan to rival a village like Amegakure.

This potential, however, was precisely why other nations and clans couldn't afford to let them thrive. Even the Land of Fire preferred to see Uzushiogakure dismantled rather than risk its growth.

The Five Great Nations already dominated the ninja world—there was no room for a sixth.

From his inn, Dak sat cross-legged, refining his chakra. When over a thousand individuals approached Uzushiogakure, he barely raised an eyebrow.

"Just a scouting party," he muttered, showing no intention to act.

A thousand people might seem like a lot, but in the grand scheme of ninja wars, this was a relatively small number. In full-scale battles between great ninja villages, a single battlefield could see up to ten thousand troops.

However, these thousand individuals were predominantly samurai—ordinary warriors rather than ninjas. Only about a hundred were third-rate ninjas.

Uzushiogakure, by contrast, had a population of thousands, with over a thousand capable ninjas. Attacking such a stronghold with this meager force was akin to throwing pebbles at a fortress.

This group was nothing more than a sacrificial pawn, sent to test Uzushiogakure's defenses and gather intelligence.

The Uzumaki clan's collapse wouldn't be immediate. With no intervention from the Five Great Nations or powerful villages like Amegakure, the conflict would likely drag on for over a decade.

...

Knock, knock, knock.

The sound of knocking interrupted Dak's thoughts.

"Come in," Dak called out.

The door opened to reveal a red-haired girl in traditional attire. Her expression was tinged with anxiety as she bowed politely.

"Sir, a group of rebellious samurai is causing trouble nearby, but please don't worry—the Uzumaki clan will handle it," she assured him.

Dak raised an eyebrow, recognizing the euphemism. These so-called "rebellious samurai" were clearly pawns sent by external forces to test the village's defenses under the guise of a disturbance.

"I see. What's your name?" Dak asked, studying the girl.

"Uzumaki Fusō," she replied hesitantly.

Dak's mind reeled for a moment.

So, this is Nagato's mother...

"Nothing, just curious," Dak said, waving off the thought. "Let me know if anything happens."

Fusō nodded, bowing again before leaving. Dak noted her slightly pale complexion, likely from worry about her family fighting outside.

As the door closed, Dak chuckled to himself.

The Uzumaki clan had tremendous potential. Under Akatsuki's protection, their future growth could be extraordinary. With the Uzumaki as allies, Akatsuki's strength would increase exponentially.

...

Meeting Hall, Uzushiogakure

"Clan Head, has Konoha abandoned us?" a young Uzumaki ninja asked hesitantly.

The question caused murmurs to ripple through the room, the air heavy with tension.

"Enough with the nonsense! Our ties with Konoha are strong—they would never abandon us!" Ashina, the clan head, slammed his hand on the table.

"Think about the current situation. The First Shinobi World War just ended, Tobirama-sama is gone, and Konoha is in no position to spare the manpower to help us," Ashina explained.

His reasoning seemed to pacify some of the gathered ninjas, who nodded reluctantly.

"But... what if the next attack isn't just a group of samurai? What if it's thousands of ninjas?"

"We've already lost contact with many clan members on missions," another ninja added.

"Even supply routes are constantly raided, with escorting samurai refusing to intervene. It's as if they're trying to starve us out," a third ninja noted bitterly.

Ashina sighed, raising his hand to quiet the room. "We'll send a few more requests for aid to Konoha. Let's see how they respond."

The Uzumaki clan's once-thriving village was now a cage, surrounded by hostile forces. Their once-advantageous geography had become a prison, with escape routes fraught with ambushes.

"Clan Head!" a voice called out urgently.

A ninja seated in the corner stood up.

"Speak," Ashina said, his expression tense.

"Two pieces of critical information. First, the Uchiha brothers—Madara and Izuna—are alive. They've been seen at Takigakure and Kirigakure, forcibly taking the Seven-Tails and Three-Tails."

The room erupted in chaos.

"What?! Aren't they supposed to be dead?"

"Could this be a trap or misinformation?"

"No way! Takigakure and Kirigakure wouldn't collaborate on a lie like this, especially involving tailed beasts. Their reputations are at stake!"

"Right. And the Mist Village just lost their Second Mizukage—why would they risk spreading falsehoods now?"

The gathered Uzumaki debated heatedly, grappling with the implications of such monumental news.
