RuQian entered her grandfather's office after knocking. Her grandfather was seated behind a huge mahogany table with a huge stack of documents spread over and a desktop to the side. His office was decorated with red and white tones. Her grandfather believed the colour red to be auspicious, all the elder generation did, so usually all his rooms were decorated in these tones.
There was a couch with a coffee table near the entrance. Atop the table were some takeout boxes. RuQian stopped short forgetting to greet him. 'Hasn't he eaten lunch yet?' Her grandfather looked up from the stack of documents he had been reading to see why no one had spoken.
His stern face broke out in a huge smile when he saw her. "Xiao Qian, you're here? Did you finish signing the contract?"
RuQian walked up to the desk, picked up the landline, dialled a three digit combination. Her grandfather's eyebrows quirked up but he didn't say anything. Ren Wei picked up on the other side, "Yes, Chairman?"
"Secretary Ren, please come in." RuQian hung up after that. Her grandfather looked at her quizzically. She knew why he looked at her like that. None of the outsiders should know the combinations the chairman used for different departments. Even if she was his granddaughter she shouldn't have the knowledge of these as he had yet to mention them in this life. It was only Ren Wei who would know them. Just now she had acted on impulse. She couldn't really tell him how she knew the number, so she just kept quiet.
Ren Wei knocked and entered, "Young Miss, what can I do for you?"
RuQian crossed her arms across her chest and pointed at the takeout boxes with her chin, "Can you please heat those up quickly. I'll watch him finish eating before I leave." She smiled at Ren Wei and then sent a glare at her grandfather. Both the grandfather and secretary grimaced after hearing her say that.
They could see she was angry. Even if she had on a calm expression, her eyes showed her anger, which she did not try to hide.
"Yes, Young Miss." The secretary quickly tried to scramble out with the cold food.
"Xiao Qian.. Ahaha grandfather has been busy. That's why I didn't have time to eat. I was going to eat in a little while." Her grandfather awkwardly tried to appease his angry granddaughter. Even he was scared of her stare. She definitely inherited this from her grandmother. It made anyone squirm with fear. Of course this granddaughter of his was still not as scary as his wife but they had similar scary vibes.
"It's almost time to go home. When were you going to eat? And even if you're busy, how can you not eat?" Ren Wei entered with the warmed up food at this moment. "Do you not care about your health anymore? Was it that difficult to spare ten minutes to eat?" She asked with a stern face.
RuQian turned towards Ren Wei who was setting up the table, "And secretary Ren, why did you not force him to eat?"
"Um.. Young Miss." Ren Wei hesitatingly looked behind her at the man who was warning him with his eyes.
"Stop looking at him. You don't want to receive your year end bonus this time? I'll make sure you won't get them."
Ren Wei straightened his spine and turned his head to RuQian who looked like a scary dragon, "Young Miss, this has happened many times. I keep reminding the chairman throughout the day to eat but he scolds me and if I still persist, he gives me extra work so that I won't disturb him. Sorry for not taking care of the chairman, Young Miss."
RuQian's eyes turned cold making Ren Wei and even her grandfather who couldn't see her shiver. "Secretary Ren, you can't do anything if someone is too stubborn. From now onwards you don't have to try and persuade anyone." Both Ren Wei and the chairman gulped at her cold words. "If he does not eat just give me a call. Even if he tries to stop you, don't listen to him. He can only warn you when I'm not around. If he stops you, record what he is saying and send it to me. Even I want to see which methods he uses to stop you from telling me."
Ren Wei released a sigh of relief, "Yes, Young Miss. I will do that."
RuQian turned around and saw her grandfather was still frozen to his seat, scared to move. Her eyes turned colder, "Why are you still there grandfather?"
Her grandfather quickly stood up, rushed to the couch and started eating his food quietly, avoiding his granddaughter's scary eyes. Ren Wei smirked seeing the obedient expression on the chairman's face.
It wasn't that the chairman couldn't discipline his young granddaughter. He did not have the heart to scold her when she was just worried about him. Ren Wei was happy to see this side of the Young Miss. She had not cared about the chairman like this before. After the death of his wife, the chairman had always been alone. Even though he had his daughter, she was busy with her life and didn't really have time to care about her father.
After her mother's death, the Young Miss had visited many times but the visits decreased over the years. She was a kid herself and she loved Su Ting too much, so she always fought with her grandfather who told her to be wary of that man. The Young Miss had finally come to her senses so the chairman now had someone to take care of him.
"Secretary Ren we'll be leaving in a while. Did you finish taking the details of that man?"
"Ah, yes Young Miss. I will now go and call that company and send them the details."
"Okay. Can you send Mr Bai in?" RuQian turned around and sat down in the leather seat her grandfather occupied before, behind the desk. She started picking up a few simple documents and checking them, noting a few things on the papers. She had started receiving reports of different departments from Ren Wei for the past few months and had even given out a few orders for him to fulfil.
At first she made Ren Wei give her many details about the company, as if she was trying to learn how a business worked, so that they wouldn't think it was too sudden. She had also discussed a few things with her grandfather, asking him questions, pretending not to understand. Her grandfather was ecstatic that she was showing interest in the company and had ordered Ren Wei to give her whatever she wanted.
When she started making suggestions, Ren Wei was a little doubtful but her grandfather told him to implement them. After her suggestions were implemented the administration ran a little smoother and faster than before. She had promoted a few members, younger employees actually. It wasn't surprising that Ren Wei was a little critical of her decisions but she knew those employees well. Even though they were young, they were honest hard workers.
RuQian quickly read a few documents, rejected a few and made points for others which had to be changed. There was a knock and someone entered. RuQian noticed Bai Xing standing at the door and gawking at her and her grandfather.
"Please take a seat Mr Bai." RuQian gestured to the seat opposite hers before returning to read the papers in her hand.
Her grandfather wanted to say something but noticed her side glance and continued eating without stopping, afraid that she would get angry again. Bai Xing greeted the old man who was eating as if he had never seen food before. Was this really Zhang Wennai, the CEO of this huge company that he was in right now. But he looked scared of Miss RuQian. 'Wah. So even he is afraid of this great demoness.' Bai Xing thought in his mind.
"Mr Bai." RuQian called him.
"Yes. Miss RuQian." He quickly went and sat in front of the huge desk. Looking at her now seated in that huge leather seat behind a huge desk, she looked like she owned the company, and what was she doing with those papers?
RuQian finished the document in her hand first, writing down a few points for review. Then she slid a piece of paper over to Bai Xing. "Call that number now. It's the number of the man whose interview we'll set up."
"Oh. Okay Miss." He picked his phone and called the number.
A dull voice answered from the other side, "Hello."
