Capítulo 52: 52. Cousin Of Mu Chen?

Lan Xie and Amy dragged RuQian to The Golden Square Mall.

"By the way, why does the Mu family name all their companies with the word gold in them?" RuQian wondered out loud.

"Oh, you're right. I never thought of it that way. But I guess we would never know, right?" Amy said.

RuQian turned to Lan Xie, "You should know about this right?"

"Why would Qiao Xie know about this Qian Qian?"

"Hmm? What? You don't know about your cousin's business?"

"Huh? Cousin? What do you mean?" Amy was confused.

It was right to be confused. Someone from outside the circle would not know that Lan Xie was from the Mu Family too.

Inside the circle this was a very well known topic and this was why people thought very carefully before crossing Lan Xie in any manner.

She was the Mu Family's granddaughter after all. But Lan Xie never showed off in any manner, so many people would not know.

Amy had become a good friend to both of them, so RuQian did not stop herself from questioning Lan Xie openly and neither did Lan Xie hesitate in answering.

"You know this well Qian Qian, even though Mu Chen is my cousin, I've only met him a handful of times after he took on his role in the company. And now that he is getting more involved in each and every field of business, even my aunt and uncle don't get to meet him often.

Frankly he has disappeared like smoke. He doesn't even come to the ancestral home for any festivals.

He did not even visit during the Chinese new year this time. Grandma was so angry but you know how it is, no one has any guts to say anything to his face.

I did meet the rest of the family, sometimes I feel worried for Mu Chen." Lan Xie shook her head wanting to shake away the sad thoughts but the sadness seeped through.

"Anyways, as to why all the company names have the word gold in them, it was because when our ancestor started the company he had done so by selling his wife's gold jewelry.

So when each business is opened, it's to pay respect to the ancestors and also to remember that all this empire stands on the sacrifice a woman had made.

During that time, the wife's paternal family wanted to force her to leave my ancestor as our family was having a bad time due to losing a lot of our plots and money.

But the wife chose to stay with my ancestor and even helped him out by not only giving him her jewelry but also by guiding him with which investments were better.

The wife was better educated than my ancestor, her parents had raised her in another country so she had received better education.

Even through all the troubles she stayed with my ancestor and never left him. That is the reason why our family values women more than men.

That's why if our family has a female child it's celebrated in a grander manner than when a male is born.

In fact the females had been given more chances to run the family business but everytime, somehow it's the male who shows the best characteristics to lead in each generation.

My grandfather personally trained my second cousin so as to help her become the one to take on the role but after a competition, Mu Chen won.

So he took on the role. Even today my grandfather keeps hoping that Mu Chen would marry a businesswoman and that she could take up a higher position in the company.

But everyone in the country and even outside the country knows how good of a businessman Mu Chen is. He is even known as a monster when it comes to business.

He is the best businessman amongst our family's each and every generation, so no one can outwin him easily. In fact my grandma said that Mu Chen is the best businessman yet, in all of our generations.

This is the kind of thinking that I love within my family. They treat the women much more preciously than they treat men."

Lan Xie had a smile on her face the whole time she recited this story.

"Lan Xie, why hasn't your family ever revealed this story outside? I've never heard of it before." RuQian was curious as to how this interesting story had never been released but if an actor or actress bought a new bag or shoes, that was a page five story.

Lan Xie started laughing loudly, "Qian Qian, this is a secret which I shared with you both today. No one apart from the main family, the branch families and some trusted members know the whole story.

Of course, I did leave some bits and pieces out which I am not allowed to share but apart from that I shared a big secret with you both.

This is not just a normal story that is told to everyone. I only told you both this truth because I trust you immensely."

RuQian smiled happily. Lan Xie had always treated her well but sharing a family secret was something not just any friend would do.

"This is kept a secret?" Amy's eyes widened after she realized something else. "W.. Wa...wait. Y.. you... " She pointed towards Lan Xie as if she had seen a ghost.

"Yeah. Me?" Lan Xie was confused as she had not realized what was wrong with Amy.

"Yes Amy. Lan Xie is Mu Chen's cousin." RuQian cleared the confusion, after understanding why Amy was suddenly stuttering.

"Amy, this was your almost similar reaction to when you learned my identity as the granddaughter of the Zhang Family."

"That's why you are stuttering? Oh Amy, I wanna take a picture of you. You look so funny." Lan Xie doubled over, seeing her friend's shocked expression.

"You really are, the great Mu Chen's cousin?" Amy asked with disbelief.

It wasn't a surprise that she was this stunned. The man was practically invisible and no one had ever even seen his face.

If one wanted to see him they had to be of a very high status, be able to have business with him or be a member of his family.

And apparently, his family was also having a hard time getting to see the very busy man.

"Yeah, he is my cousin and yes I too think he is great to be able to expand the company so much but he seriously need to slow down, his family misses him." Lan Xie tried to hide it but RuQian could clearly see the depressed look in her friend's face.

Amy was too busy jumping to notice this, "Wow! Really? You are so lucky to have seen him. I come from such a different family than you both, even our social circles don't match."

"Oh you don't have to worry. I haven't seen him in many years. And RuQian is also like you, she too has never had the chance to see him, so don't feel left out." Lan Xie laughed and patted Amy's head.

RuQian's face shifted mildly after she heard Lan Xie's words. She had seen the man and everytime she remembered him, she seemed to think of the cold, expressionless man as being handsome.

These days she had thought of the man a few times due to Master Liu and now Lan Xie. She never thought of him as a handsome man before, she did not know why it was happening now.

It was not like she did not know he was handsome, she knew it but never paid attention to his looks, now she thought about his looks these past few days when the man in question was brought up.

RuQian had very seldom thought about men in her past life and this happened only when her needs raised or when she was too stressed.

RuQian shook her head to clear the image of the grey eyed man from her mind. Her friends took that as her answer as they thought she had never seen Mu Chen.

But nearby, the grey eyed man himself had seen each of her expressions very clearly.
