Valerie's POV

The dining table became hot all of a sudden despite the innumerable Ac on it. I gaped at her with my mouth ajar. I didn't plan to stay in the same space with Christine's mom for another minute, but I guess this old lady has other plans for me.

"You may go, if it isn't convenient for you." She said, and Christine glanced at me for a few seconds.

"Don't worry, I will stay for thirty more minutes before leaving, it's no big deal." I replied with a clenched jaw.

"That's good, my dearest daughter-in-law." The lady said with smiles.

"Daughter-In-Laws my foot." His mom commented in a not-so- audible voice, but still everyone clearly heard her.

To be candid, I've lost my appetite entirely. I stared at the food on the plate with anger, and thankfully, soon enough, the maids came and cleared the table. Christine turned to me and kissed my forehead, then pecked my lips.
