While the party happily shared their loot, Silent Acacia looked at the remaining mobs with a twinkle in his eyes.
In his mind, the fights were too easy, not posing much of a challenge.
"Ok. Acacia, you can pull the next group.", said Silver Blade.
"On it."
The young thief sneaked forward, circling the pirates. Radiant Shield looked at him strangely, wondering what Silent Acacia was up to.
But suddenly an arrow shot into the densely packed pirates.
Multiple heads turned, at least eight pirates attracted.
Silent Acacia grinned as he hastily returned to the group.
"Hey, why did you pull so many?"
"It's alright. The fights are too easy."
"You could've asked us first!"
A part of the group was not happy. They felt the pressure as nine pirates turned to attack, two of them ranged.
"Guys, focus!"
Silver Blade hastily stopped the party from discussing. But after this fight they would have to confront Silent Acacia.
The thief stood in the back, feeling somewhat guilty as he noticed the nervousness among the group.
Cyclone and Balm hastily began attacking, spending their mana freely.
Silent Acacia gritted his teeth. He dashed to the side, redirecting the pirates.
"What are you doing?!"
"Quick, grab as much aggro as you can!"
"Kid, you're making everything even more chaotic."
Now two pirates were focused on Cyclone and Balm, while the rest chased after Silent Acacia.
Silver Blade had to stay in place and defend their mages, leaving only Radiant Shield to hastily catch up to the group of pirates and drawing aggro.
The burly man soon got attacked by two pirates.
Liam shook his head as he also attacked, luring one more pirate away, leaving three of them to chase after Silent Acacia.
The thief made use of his agility to run circles, preventing the pirates from catching up.
But the two ranged attackers were free to shoot. Silent Acacia was distracted, quickly grazed by a bullet.
[-84!]
The thief felt his heart sink as he lost more than half of his HP.

He gritted his teeth, directing his focus on the ranged attackers.
Meanwhile the rest of the party did their best to free up Silver Blade.
[Stance -6]
[Stance -6]
The tank defended against two pirates while everyone attacked.
[-38!]
[-43!]
Sun's Knight and Quickstep attacked with their swords, dealing solid damage.
[-44!]
[-39!]
Cyclone and Balm attacked as well. However, the pirates weren't done yet. They raised their sabers again.
"Let me!"
Cyclone warned her party as she hastily casted one of the standard spells among mages.
[Push (rank 1)
Cost: 10 Mana
Effect: Push back all enemies in a 2-meter radius around you, dazing them for 1 second.
Cooldown: 8 seconds]
A white shockwave spread from Cyclone. The pirates didn't manage to get their attacks off, tumbling backwards.
"Good job!"
Another wave of skill directly followed, sending the two pirates to the afterlife.
"Friends, I could use some help!"
Radiant Shield shouted frantically. At this moment his stance was used up. One attack went through, hitting him squarely in the chest.
[-72!]
The tank flinched as he lost close to one third of his HP. The others knew the situation was bad, hastily coming to help.
Balm learned from Cyclone, using her own [Push] to negate the next wave of attacks.
As the team worked together, juggling the skills, another two pirates soon fell.
"Bleary Mirage, Silent Acacia! Bring them over!"
The two young men quickly complied, their stance about to be used up as well. They returned to the party, where Silver Blade and Radiant Shield did their jobs and aggroed the pirates.
At this point even the tanks didn't have much stance left. But the ranged attackers among the opponents were still firing freely, needing the tanks to block.
Thus, the party had to coordinate perfectly, using their crowd control skills to prevent the melee pirates from attacking.
Liam was impressed as the team worked together well. The pirates didn't get off another attack until they died.
Afterwards the party made quick process with the two ranged opponents.
Everyone took a deep breath after the fight was over.
Sun's knight frowned, staring at Silent Acacia:
"Damn, why the f*ck would you do this?!"
Silent Acacia felt uncomfortable, only encouraged by his girlfriend's hold on his hand.
"I'm sorry. I thought the other fights were too boring."
"What's bad about boring? We are not pressed for time."
"But wasn't it much more fun this time?"
"No!"
"I think he has a point.", intervened Cyclone carefully.
Silent Acacia suddenly felt his eyes light up as he found an alley.
"Right? What's the point of playing a game if it isn't fun?"
"I don't think we have the same idea about fun!", stated Sun's knight.
The others watched with subtle expressions, each having their own opinions.
Liam observed calmly. Gathering this preliminary group only happened on a whim. If it didn't work out, he would have to change players.
Liam hoped to form a group of friends to play the game with. Fate of Crunaboul ultimately was not a game which could be played solo. Even with his advantages.
"Guys, guys. Please calm down!"
Silver Blade opened her arms wide. The competent tank managed to get everyone's respect, a good sign for a leader.
Thus, the discussion died down as she spoke up.
"Silent Acacia, if you have any ideas in the future, please discuss them with the group first. We can slowly test out our limits."
"Alright, sorry."
"Good. Now let's continue stably, get rid of the elite, and face the boss. Everyone ok with this?"
"Sure."
"Let's go."
"Let's be the first to kill a boss!"
Most of the group was eager to continue. Liam eyed Cyclone strangely.
Where does your enthusiasm come from? I never mentioned anything about a boss…
The veteran shook his head, working with the party as they killed swaths of pirates. Soon only five normal pirates and the two elites remained.
"Ok let's be careful and pull the normal mobs first."
"Yes."
Silent Acacia complied, shooting an arrow from a carefully chosen angle.
But to everyone's surprise the two elites suddenly stared at the thief.
"You! How dared you mess with us!"
"Give us your head as compensation!"
Silent Acacia froze in place for a moment.
"I… I didn't pull them!"
This time Liam didn't want the group to argue, speaking up for the thief.
"Those elites attack automatically after too many pirates die! Get ready, guys!"
"You heard him! Focus the small mobs first! Quick!"
Silver Blade ordered the group, knowing that the upcoming fight wouldn't be easy. She inspected the elite.
[Osick's right hand

[Osick's left hand

Level: 7
HP: 1200/1200]
Meanwhile the normal pirates were already bombarded with attacks. Cyclone and Balm used everything to get them low.
A moment later close combat began. The two elites focused on Silver Blade and Radiant Shield.
[Stance -16]
[Stance -12]
Silver Blade was shocked by the tremor running through her shield.
"Oh no! Don't let them land another attack!"
The other party members felt an urge in their hearts. They repeated their tricks, preventing the normal pirates from attacking.
Their HP quickly dropped.
But the elite weren't impressed. Osick's right hand obviously had a higher attack speed, her saber swinging quickly.
Silver Blade narrowed her eyes as she used [Brutal Strike].
[-24!]
[Stun 1second]
The tank took a deep breath as she realized how little damage she did. But at least the elite was interrupted in her attack as well.
Liam calmly attacked the normal mobs, building up his fury.
The rest of the team used everything they had to quickly get rid of the pirates. A few seconds later only the elites remained.
"Focus this one, the other is a tank!", ordered Silver Blade, pointing at Osick's right hand.
"Got it!"
Instantly two blinding lights shot at the elite's head as the mages used their [Holy Strike]
[-87!]
[-75!]
[-9!]
"Wow nice one!"
"Haha, my [Holy Strike] effect triggered!"
"Little rats!"
The elite cursed angrily as a large chunk of her HP disappeared. The others followed up with their attacks. Having used their fury against the weaker mobs they had to do with normal attacks for now.
The elites followed up with another wave of attacks.
"I got this!"
Cyclone exclaimed proudly as she used [Push]. But this time the elites weren't moved.
"What happened?"
"Careful!"
Everyone was shocked. Silver Blade and Radiant Shield reacted instinctively, raising their shields.
[Stance -16]
[Stance -12]
"We are almost out of stance, what's going on?"
"The elites can get used to crowd control.", explained Liam dryly.
"What?!"
Silver Blade realized that this was bad news for them.
"Get rid of this one, hurry!"
Attacks rained down on the less tanky elite, eager to whittle it down.
But it proved to be difficult. A saber slashed through the air.
