Capítulo 133: Chapter 133

"Hmph, do you think Jiraiya has the idea of becoming the Fifth Hokage?" Danzo snorted coldly.

Koharu, turning to the side, responded icily,

"Whether he has the idea and whether he can achieve it are two different things, Danzo. You're already so old—why not give the younger generation a chance?"

Having worked together for many years, the two were well aware of Danzo's governing philosophy. It stood in stark contrast to Sarutobi's—a single misstep could drag Konoha into the abyss. They had grown comfortable under Sarutobi's leadership and were unwilling to risk Konoha's future on Danzo's vision.

Danzo, fully aware of what the two elders were thinking, retorted coldly,

"Koharu, Homura, do you know why Konoha is in this state today? Even our allies betray us! It's all because of Sarutobi's failed policies! If we were strong enough, why would we need allies at all? Why should we worry about someone sneaking up on us during the Chunin Exams?"

"Danzo, your approach would lead to the deaths of many Konoha ninjas! The villagers would live in constant fear! Can you really take responsibility for the lives of our ninja? For the children and women who live in peace?" Homura yelled furiously.

Danzo's face darkened.

He wanted to argue against their hypocritical, ignorant, and conservative thinking, but he knew that without their support, his chances of becoming Hokage would diminish. Offending them outright would only seal his fate, and he couldn't simply eliminate them like Sarutobi. The situation was more complicated than that.

Sarutobi Hiruzen could be taken down, but the two advisors? That was a different story.

The selection of Konoha's Hokage wasn't just a village matter—it was a decision that involved the entire country. The two advisors acted as the voices of the daimyo within the village and wielded significant influence over the daimyo's decisions, including financial support. If Danzo killed them, it would be seen as an affront to the daimyo, and he'd not only lose his chance to become Hokage but would likely be branded as an S-rank missing-nin.

Even after Sarutobi's death, these constraints remained in place.

After a moment of internal struggle, Danzo made a reluctant concession.

"Fine. If we can't discuss Hokage, let's talk about something else."

"What do you have in mind?" Koharu asked, her voice cautious.

"The Root currently holds one of the Jinchūriki from Sunagakure, and recently, Konoha has taken in a girl from the Uzumaki Clan. I want her. I'll make her Konoha's next Jinchūriki."

Homura and Koharu exchanged a glance, caught off guard by this request. They were aware of the situation with the Jinchūriki but hadn't thought much of it before.

Now, with an extra tailed beast in Konoha, a plan seemed feasible. However, concerns lingered.

"It's a bold idea, but the One-Tail Jinchūriki still belongs to Sunagakure. What happens when they demand their return?" Homura asked.

"Hmph, Sunagakure invaded Konoha and didn't even offer reparations. If they dare to demand the return of their Jinchūriki, we'll fight them!" Danzo declared.

The advisors, unimpressed with this answer, frowned.

"Danzo, this approach is reckless," Koharu said calmly.

Danzo knew they considered him too aggressive. Cursing their cowardice silently, he replied,

"Relax. They won't dare to challenge us. My informants tell me that the Fourth Kazekage was killed by Orochimaru. Sunagakure is leaderless, so they won't have the strength to fight Konoha."

"Oh? Is that information reliable?"

"Absolutely."

Homura and Koharu shared another glance, their eyes gleaming with newfound hope.

With the Fourth Kazekage dead, Sunagakure would face its own internal strife and couldn't afford to challenge Konoha. Attacking Konoha at this time would only leave Sunagakure vulnerable to other threats.

"One less enemy to worry about," Koharu murmured.

"If that's the case, keeping the One-Tail might be an option," Homura added cautiously.

"'Might'? What are your concerns?" Danzo frowned. He didn't understand why they were still hesitant.

"Don't forget," Homura said, "who was it that saved Konoha during the Chunin Exams."

"That would be Gekko Kazuki, wouldn't it?" Danzo scoffed. "He's just a genin. What's there to worry about? If I demand the Jinchūriki from him, he'll have no choice but to comply."

Homura gave him a calm glance. "He didn't even show respect to Sarutobi. Do you think he'll be any more cooperative with you?"

"Are we really going to abandon a plan that could benefit Konoha just because of a single genin?" Danzo said, his frustration mounting.

"Ordinary genin are no issue, but Kazuki's talents are undeniable. Some even say he could be the next Fourth Hokage," Koharu replied softly.

"So what? He's still a genin!" Danzo snapped.

Why should he fear a Gekko Clan genin with no power or political backing? Talent alone was meaningless—he had seen countless geniuses come and go. It was Danzo who had survived.

"Danzo, we aren't saying this to dismiss your plans. We simply caution you against using force. We can't afford to push a genius like Gekko Kazuki into opposing Konoha. Remember what happened with Orochimaru."

Danzo's frown deepened, realizing they feared another Orochimaru situation.

But why should he worry? Without internal support, Orochimaru had only succeeded in attacking Konoha because of his hidden allies.

Gekko Kazuki—had no such support.

If he stood in Danzo's way, Danzo would simply orchestrate a campaign to kill him, just like Kakashi's father. Gekko Kazuki could easily be driven into despair, possibly even suicide.

"I understand. I'll use more diplomatic means. There's no need to force him into a corner," Danzo said coolly.

"That's all we ask. For now, the priority is choosing the next Hokage. Without a Hokage, Konoha can't function properly."

"Yes, we've only been able to handle minor issues. The village needs a Hokage," Koharu agreed.

"We'll be meeting Jiraiya tomorrow. Will you join us, Danzo?" Homura asked.

Danzo's eyes darkened as the two spoke of choosing someone other than him for Hokage. His anger boiled beneath the surface, but he maintained his composure.

"Hmph, I won't be going. But Jiraiya won't be the Fifth Hokage. You'd better start considering other candidates quickly—Konoha can't afford to wait any longer," Danzo said coldly.
