Titus
I opened my eyes and looked around, the cell was dark as usual and there was no sign of anyone in the basement. I exhaled and sat up, my back was still hurting from the whipping I received from Dad. I didn't even remember how many days had passed since I had been locked up inside the basement.
My wrists were bleeding by the burns of silver cuffs around them and so were my ankles. Dad used to come once daily and ask if I was ready to reject Freya. I would give him the same answer and receive the whip, it had been the same since the day he was holding me, prisoner.
The guard who brought me food told me that Mom, had been begging Dad to free me but he had turned a deaf ear to her pleas. Some days when Dad was out on Alpha business, Beta Brandon would take his place to whip me. He was cruel than Dad in every sense and won't even stop when I would faint.
They both were thinking that they could beat out the feelings that I had for Freya, but they were forgetting one thing that this experience was only making me stronger. There was no chance in hell that I would give up on Freya just because of the torture I was receiving at their hands.
The door of the basement opened with a creaking sound and soft footsteps sounded on the stairs. I kept looking in the direction of the stairs and then Mom appeared in a white dress followed by James. I was astonished to see her here in the basement. If she was here meant that Dad was unaware of this, otherwise, he never would have allowed her to come here.
"Mom, you shouldn't be here," my voice sounded strange even to me.
"Titus, oh Titus, my sweet boy," Mom said from outside the cell.
I think she didnt had the key to my cell, that was the reason she was still standing outside.
"I am not sweet, Mom, not anymore," my voice held a sad note.
"You will always be my sweet boy, Titus," she said with a sad smile.
Mom always used to call me her sweet boy, since my childhood and I used to hate it. I was everything but sweet and I had told her to stop calling me that many times, but she had been persistent.
"How are you and Emily?" I inquired about my sister.
"She is worried about you and requesting Xander to review his decision and set you free," Mom replied.
"Tell Emily, she doesn't need to beg Dad for me. I am strong enough to handle this," I said, in a determined voice.
I didn't want my mom or my sister to beg Dad for anything. I knew I was going to get free one day and that day will the last day of his life.
"Why don't you listen to your father and reject that girl? I can't see you like this Titus," Mom said teary-eyed.
She looked shaken to see my condition, I could imagine how distressed she might be. She was torn between her son and husband.
"I can't Mom, she is my mate, how could you even expect something like that?" I asked Mom bewildered.
"You could get a second chance mate, she isn't the last girl in this world," Mom's tears trickled down her face.
"I don't want a second chance mate Mom, I just want Freya. I love her mom and I can't even imagine my life without her," I replied mom.
"You have only known her for a few hours Titus and you are ready to throw away a future people dream of, for that girl," Mom tried to make me understand.
I knew she was heartbroken to see me like this and wanted what was in my best interest, but she didn't know the extent of my feelings for Freya. I was even ready to die for her, but I won't reject her to save my life.
"I can't Mom, please don't force me. I don't want anyone else than Freya. She is the most amazing girl that I have ever met," I told mom.
Mom looked sad at my answer but didn't say anything," How come Dad allowed you to come here?"
"He isn't aware of my visit. He and Beta Brandon are on the tour of the borders," Mom replied.
I looked at James he was standing leaning against the bars of the cell across mine. He gave me a sad smile when our eyes met.
"How are you, James?" I asked him.
"I am holding up if that's what you are asking," James replied.
"Take care of Mom and Emily, you are the one responsible for them from now on," I said to him.
"Don't worry I will care for her as I would for my mother," James assured.
"I miss u, buddy," I smiled at him.
"I miss u too, bro," James returned my smile.
"Titus, I will still request you to review your decision. It's not worth to throw away your life for a girl," Mom said when James and I both when silent.
"And I will tell you again Mom, that it's not possible for me," I said to Mom, in a determined voice.
Mom was worried for me, I could understand that but I couldn't understand why she was insisting to reject Freya?
"How far can you go for her?" Mom asked out of the blue.
"What?" I asked confused.
"To what extent are ready to go for Freya?" She asked me.
"I can lay down my life for her Mom," I replied with all honesty.
"I will try getting you free out of here, but you will have to run and never come back because your father will never accept you after that," Mom said in a hushed voice.
I can't believe my Mom could say something like this. I had not imagined in my worst nightmare that she would ever think of betraying my Dad. She worshiped the land he walked on but I think her love for me was stronger or it was her protection instinct that she was trying to get me free.
