Capítulo 22: Flirting with one, sleeping with another
Coming out of the bathroom, Axel who only had a towel around his waist saw that Meili was back inside the room.
What surprised him however wasn't Meili having come back, but rather it was that she removed the loose black robes she had on her until now.
"What changed your mind?"
"I just wanted to remind you of how beautiful I am."
Shooting her a dead to me look, Axel using his other abilities and heated his hands to dry his hair.
"I've never seen someone who possessed such weird abilities even before they started cultivating. But again, it doesn't seem much useful anyway so.. "
Shrugging and not finishing that sentence, Meili changed the topic.
"Wanna tell me what all of that back at the restaurant was about?"
"Huh? I don't know what you're talking about."
Scoffing at this, Meili said, "Whom do you think you can fool with this act? Anyone could see how weird you were acting after she sat down."
"Why bother asking me when you've already started investigating her?"
Putting on an act as if he just understood the answer, Axel said, "Could it be that you haven't found anything about her and want to try and obtain some from me?"
"Why can't the two of us ever talk normally?"
"I have no idea. Now if you'll turn around."
Not saying anything and turning around, Meili snickered under her breath because there was a small mirror in front of her facing Axel who was behind her.
Unfortunately though, she didn't manage to see anything as Axel didn't entirely remove the towel and dressed over it before getting rid of it.
This was when she guessed that her behaving like this might be a part of the reason the two behaved so weirdly towards each other.
"Now stop being coy and tell me at least a little bit about her."
"Coy?"
Chuckling from hearing a word he wasn't used to hearing when describing him, Axel said, "Her identity is a secret which even I can't reveal."
Raising an eye in surprise because this woman Lanying seemed to be a big shot even though she herself didn't know about it, Meili could only make random guesses at who she could be.
From the information she managed to obtain, all of it just said that she was a random cultivator who didn't join any force.
In short, most likely someone who stumbled into the world of cultivation and was trying out her best.
But in that case, where did she obtain her cultivation technique?
Who gave her information about what was happening here?
Neither of these things were something which just money could buy. And her mother despite being a rich CEO, had no relations to the cultivation world.
So who was it that was helping her?
The mysterious father who had Axel all riled up, who was it?
...
Having decided on what to do, Axel was now not just planning on what to do tomorrow but even after that.
His next destination was set to China causing Meili to ask if he was turning into her stalker and reminded him once again for the umpteenth time that she was already married while striking a sexy pose.
Leaving his room and locking the door from the outside in an attempt to keep Meili away, Axel walked to Lanying's room and knocked on the door.
Waiting patiently, Axel smiled brightly as soon as the door was opened.
The person who walked out however wasn't Lanying and instead was one of the female staff who caused him to frown.
"Good look, darling. Make sure to seduce the love of your life."
Kissing Axel on the cheek as he pushed her away, Aphrodite who had the last laugh truly left the poor woman alone and didn't take over her body even again.
Not too long after the woman left, Lanying came to the door and asked, "What do you want this time?"
Turning to face her, Axel was forced to keep his right cheek hidden due to guessing that there was the mark of lips where Aphrodite kissed him.
"I wanted to apologize for being a bad host in the morning."
Nodding her head, Lanying said, "Go ahead. Apologize."
Resisting the urge of his lips to twitch, Axel said, "I was thinking of doing so by inviting you to a meal."
"Again?"
"Yes."
Looking at Axel through narrowed eyes, Lanying after thinking for a while nodded her head and said, "Only if you tell me what you know about my father."
Chuckling awkwardly, Axel said, "Even if I want to tell you, I really cannot do that."
Axel wasn't lying when he was saying those words.
Even if he chose to put aside his intention of seducing Lanying and becoming a couple with her, he truly couldn't reveal the fact that Zeus was her father.
Once he told someone, it was only a matter of time before everyone else learnt about it.
And when they did, Hera would definitely leave Zeus once and for all.
But after that, Zeus would definitely hunt him down and try to kill him.
So, for no such thing to happen Axel chose to keep what he found out a secret until the proper time to reveal it arrived.
"Then why should I join you for a meal?"
"Because you're a single beautiful rogue cultivator with no backing, and I'm a single handsome man with a bodyguard in the Grandmaster Realm."
