When we arrived at the designated place, our classroom teacher assigned each team (the 8 people that lived in the same lodge) to a specific camp instructor. An instructor is responsible for handling two teams. This is to make the atmosphere within the camp more competitive. From now on, all activites would happen by placing the two teams against each other. The team with the most points by the end of the day wins an anonymous prize. Last year, our team won and we simply received a $20 gift card each, which was quite disappointing. However, the prize was simply the incentive and not the reason for the competitive spirit of the teenagers. After all, these hormonal boys would get worked up over nothing important most of the time, it was very easy for the teachers and instructors to get them to face off against one another without doing much at all.
