Those present were dumbfounded as they realized their entire surroundings had been plunged into total blackness.

The two elven guards panicked as they realized that their world had been plunged into a darkness so deep that they could see absolutely nothing; not even their own hands were discernible. It was as if they had been blinded, and their other senses seemed to go berserk at the situation.
