Capítulo 96: The Final Sacrifice

The battlefield was silent as the Unknown stood fully encased within the glowing pentagram. Its many red eyes burned with malevolence, and its massive frame trembled against the binding power of the symbol. But it wasn't enough. The beast still towered, unyielding, unbroken.

"It's not working," Ere'ana whispered, her voice quivering. "Why isn't it working?"

Yumi staggered forward, her hands clutching the sides of her head. "It's a sacrifice pentagram…" she murmured. The realization hit her like a dagger to the heart. "Someone has to die to kill it."

The weight of her words sank over the crowd. There was a pause—then voices erupted from all sides.

"I'll do it!" a demon shouted.

"No, I will!" an angel cried, stepping forward.

"I'm stronger. It should be me!" a god argued.

But as each brave soul stepped forward, hesitation took hold. One by one, they faltered, fear of death rooting them in place.

The Unknown growled, its colossal claws cracking the earth beneath it. Time was running out.

Then, through the chaos, a single voice cut through with calm resolve.

"I will do it."

The battlefield fell silent as everyone turned to the speaker. Kikidori stepped forward, his nonchalant demeanor replaced by an unwavering certainty. His mismatched eyes locked onto the Unknown, then turned to Yumi.

"No…" Yumi's voice trembled as she rushed to him, tears streaming down her face. "Dad, don't do this—don't you dare—"

Kikidori placed a hand on her shoulder, his gaze soft and warm. "It's okay, my golden arrow," he said, using the nickname he had called her since she was a child. "I'll be fine."

"You won't be fine!" she sobbed, grabbing his arm. "You'll be gone!"

He crouched down to her level, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. "You've grown into someone stronger than I ever imagined. I'm proud of you, Yumi. And I love you more than anything."

Her knees buckled, and she fell into his arms, shaking her head. "Please don't leave me. I can't do this without you. I—"

"You can," he said, cutting her off gently. "And you will."

Yumi tried to speak, but the lump in her throat choked her words. She nodded, tears spilling down her cheeks.

Kikidori stood, his expression resolute, and began walking toward the Unknown. Ere'ana screamed, "Kikidori, no!" But he didn't stop.

---

The earth trembled with each step he took, the pentagram glowing brighter as he approached. The Unknown roared, sensing its end was near, and lashed out with its massive claws. Kikidori didn't falter.

With one final step, he stood at the heart of the pentagram, directly beneath the beast. The glowing symbol shook violently, pulsing with energy.

"This is it," he muttered to himself, staring up at the monstrosity.

The Unknown reared back, unleashing a devastating blow—a beam of dark energy that tore through Kikidori's chest. The force was enough to shatter the ground beneath him.

Kikidori collapsed, his body crumpling to the earth as the Unknown let out an ear-piercing roar. The pentagram's light grew blindingly bright, enveloping the beast in its power. The Unknown's form convulsed, twisted, and finally shattered into nothingness.

The battlefield was still. The war was over.

---

Yumi ran to her father's body, dropping to her knees beside him. His once bright, mismatched eyes were dull now, lifeless. Blood stained the earth beneath him.

"No, no, no!" she screamed, shaking him. "Dad, wake up! Please wake up!"

She clutched his body, sobbing into his chest. Ere'ana joined her, her own tears streaming as she knelt beside her husband.

"I need you," Yumi whispered, her voice cracking. "I can't do this without you."

Her mind raced, memories flooding in—her father teaching her to fight, his blunt but hilarious jokes, the way he always called her his golden arrow. From the moment she had opened her eyes to this very day, he had been there. And now, he was gone.

"I love you," she whispered. "Please love me forever, Dad."

She closed her eyes, holding onto him as tightly as she could, her tears soaking into his tunic.

---

The armies slowly began to disperse, the weight of what had just happened settling over everyone. Ere'ana pulled Yumi into her arms, holding her as they both cried.

The Rift had been secured. The war was over. But the cost had been unimaginable.

Kikidori's body lay still in the center of the pentagram, his sacrifice etched into the memories of all who had witnessed it.

'And with his death, the series came to a bittersweet end'. .... For now
