Capítulo 62: Chapter 61: Trouble in the Desert
Next day morning
In the middle of the Gruen desert, an object travelled at an astonishing speed, covering a large distance. This object was Brise, heading towards the Gruen Volcano where one of the seven labyrinths lay waiting to be conquered.
"Wow, Shizuku, that new outfit looks great on you," Kaori praised seeing how great the new clothes looked on her. "Did Rihito make it for you," Kaori asked innocently.
"Yeah, he gave it to me last night," Shizuku responded smiling.
"How nice, as for me. Hajime gave me these two rings," Kaori showed her two rings which were silver and white compared to Shizuku's black and dark green. She then looked at Hajime with anticipation, while he was driving.
While they were happily smiling, Shea and Tohru listened in and glared at Rihito who was sitting in the front, which Tio watched feeling amused.
[Sigh, I can't catch a break.] Rihito feeling the two glares felt tired. [I will prepare something for them later. For now, let's ignore them.]
"Papa, papa…"
"Hmm… what is it?" I asked Myu sitting on my lap.
"I want cool clothes like big sister Shizuku," Myu said with sparkling eyes.
Seeing the sparkling look I said, "Sure, I will make a special one for you."
"Yeah~, papa is the best~" Myu happily giggled and hugged me.
While Myu nuzzled in my arms I was contemplative about what type of enchantment should i put on it.
[For Myu's protection, I will give it the highest defensive ability I can, also a counter that will fire back, Teleportation too can't forget that…]
In the middle of my pondering, <Mana Sense> picked up something.
[Something is chasing us, underground?]
Then I remembered in this desert there were supposed to be many large worm monsters. Sensing the worm right below us I shouted.
"Hajime speed up NOW!"
Hajime, sensing the grave tone in my voice, immediately increased the speed, which rattled everyone.
"Everyone hold on tight," as soon as I gave the warning, from right behind us a large worm-looking monster emerged from the desert trying to devour us from beneath.
The worm monster rose up and devoured everything in his mouth, understanding it failed to get the prey, it turned in our direction and started to chase us.
"Damn, that monster is chasing us," Hajime said in annoyance.
"Language, Hajime, Myu is here," I said covering the little girl's fin-like ears.
"Papa, I'm scared," Myu said as she grabbed onto me tightly, seeing the large worm monster lunging at us.
Hajime driving the Brise at full throttle turned right and avoided an attack.
Shea noticed the worm was not getting up, but heading into the sand.
"Rihito, Hajime it went into the sand!" Shea exclaimed.
Rihito sensing its movement spoke, "It's planning to attack from the front."
Hajime then pressed a button and from the Brise, the hood shifted and a futuristic-looking cannon appeared.
Right then, as predicted the monstrous worm emerged from the desert, opening its gaping mouth lined with spike-like teeth as it lunged to devour us.
Kaori, Shizuku, and Shea screamed seeing this, while Tohru and Tio watched in silence observing and waiting to see whether or not they should intervene.
Hajime saw the monster in position and grinned. "DIE YOU BASTARD!!!" He activated the cannon. From the cannon then a red-blackish beam was fired, which tore through the monster's largemouth taking down the monster.
Shea, Shizuku and Kaori saw the scene and sighed in relief. Seeing the monster put down.
Shea relaxedly said," We are safe."
"I was scared," Kaori said grabbing Hajime's waist. She somehow pushed down Yue beneath her and was able to grab Hajime.
Yue beneath her unable to move mumbled something about "well played." then both Yue and Kaori started to argue again.
Shizuku saw both of them argue, decided to ignore them and looked outside of the window, where the dead monster lay, a strange brown-coloured blood was pouring out of it.
"Is that thing really dead," Shizuku asked.
"Yeah, it is but…" Before I could say more, the ground started to shake.
Hajime grimaced and stepped on the gas, propelling Brise forward and dodging the sudden attack from another worm monster.
"Another one!" Shea shrieked.
"Hajime get us out of here, there are multiple of those things incoming." just as I said that the whole area started to shake.
Rumble!
Rumble!
Rumble!
"Damn it," Hajime instantly headed to the largest sand dune he could see as multiple of those worm monsters emerged from under the sand.
Rihito sensing what Hajime wanted to do used his <Mana Materialization> to create a long ramp.
Hajime noticed a newly appeared ramp ahead and poured a large amount of mana to increase speed. He ran through the ramp and The Brise made a large jump using it.
"Yue, Rihito," Hajime signalled.
"On it," Yue
"I know," Rihito responded.
Yue utilized <Wind Magic> while I employed <Air Manipulation> to keep Brise airborne, away from the area crawling with worm monsters.
After making sure that the area up ahead was clear by <Mana Sence>, we slowly landed Brise.
"We safe now, right?" Shizuku asks.
"Yeah, it is safe, I made sure before landing," I said.
Hajime, hearing what Rihito said still used <Presence Detection>, seeing the area clearly and sensing no presence around. He looked at the one who had again grabbed onto his waist.
"Kaori can you move it? We are out of danger now," Hajime said seeing her grabbing onto him.
Kaori flusteredly got up, "T-that wasn't on purpose, Okay?! I just lost balance!"
Yue slightly tired looked at Kaori, "You have the guts to treat me like I'm not here."
"Oh… ah! Sorry about that, I must be panicking too much," she said blushing.
"And tried to get your fill of Hajime?" Yue said.
"Yeah, I am."
"..."
Kaori was processing what she had mistakenly said, which started another round of arguments with Yue.

Rihito ignored their banter, checked up on Myu and found her asleep.
[She has fallen asleep. Must be because of the sound barrier and tightly shutting her eyes.] I caress her seeing her sleep.
"Shizuku, can you hold Myu, she is asleep."
"Ah, sure," hearing the request Shizuku accepted.
Shea hearing that Myu was asleep, yelled at Yue and Kaori shutting their argument.
Seeing Shea act like an angry mother protecting her child, I couldn't help but smile.
Handing Myu to Shizuku, I got out of the car and looked back at the place where a huge number of those worm monsters were huddled around. They likely appeared because of the first one we dealt with.
"Maybe they are eating the dead one," I mumbled.
"Oii, Rihito get back, we are leaving," Hajime called out.
Looking at those monsters for one last time, I got back into Brise and we left for the nearest city in this case a Dukedom, 'The Dukedom of Ankaji.'
According to reports, the Dukedom of Ankaji is situated in the heart of the Gruen Desert. This is the sole nation that has managed to endure the harsh conditions of the desert, thanks to the possession of an ancient artefact known as the 'Judgment of Light' by the royal family. Additionally, it is the only nation that handles the transportation of all maritime goods to all human nations.

After about three more hours of travelling, they finally reached the dukedom.
We were about 10 meters away from the entrance from where the stone road to the country began.
"Finally, we are finally here, I was getting sick of sitting around," saying that Rihito stretched his body.
"Well, it can't be helped, unlike you, we can't travel at supersonic speed," Hajime says while putting Brise back in his <Treasure Chest>.
"So, this is the Dukedom of Ankaji," Shizuku said admiringly.
"This place is beautiful," Kaori said. To which everyone agreed.
"Yeah, it's beautiful and all but it's really hot out here."
Rihito then activated the <Temperature Control> enchantments on his clothes.
Feeling the reseeding temperature he smiled, "All better now."
As soon as I said that I felt 3 glares on my back. I looked at them, "What?"
Hajime with twitching eyes said, "Did you forget about us."
"Oh, yeah, sorry about that," I then remembered the accessories I previously created, I took them out and handed them over.
The accessory was a 3-centimetre hexagon badge with the logo of a thermometer.

Putting those enchanted accessories on and feeling the heat receding, Hajime and others felt relief.
Kaori then noticed that Rihito only gave 4 of those accessories, [What about others.] thinking that she asked, "Rihito, what about Shizuku and others…"
To her question, Shea answered, "Don't worry about us. Rihito has already enchanted our clothes with that, so we are fine."
Noticing Shizuku and Tohru nodding
Kaori understood, "Oh, I see."
Myu saw the Dukedom and its shiny barrier. Her eyes sparkled, "Papa, that city is so pretty. I wanna go to the city, let's go." Myu in excitement grabbed my arm and started to pull.
"Slow down or you will fall," I said seeing the excited Myu.
"Hurry papa…"
Hajime and the others saw Myu smiling with excitement, so they all headed to the city as the sun was setting.
