Capítulo 16: Chapter 16 The Landlord's Ring

The malevolent curses of the neighbor quickly vanished, as he was dragged by the monster into the depths of a bedroom in the haunted house.

There were two bedrooms in Han Fei's house, one of which was locked and located in the innermost part of the house. The other one was where he had been sleeping for his sleeping task.

A living person had disappeared right before his eyes, and it would be a lie to say Han Fei wasn't scared. He was now very grateful to have met such a helpful neighbor today.

If the neighbor from the sixth floor hadn't come over, the person dragged into the depths of the bedroom might have been him.

"Why would the monster drag him into that bedroom? What is hidden inside that room?" Han Fei had never been to the locked bedroom, but he had a great advantage—he could control his curiosity and would not look at what he shouldn't or go where he wasn't supposed to.

As the neighbor's screams gradually ceased, Han Fei looked at a large bunch of keys in his hand, mutely contemplating the inheritance from the neighbor, "After the monster big brother calms down, I'll try to enter the bedroom. It would be great if I could find the neighbor's keys."

The closer he was to the innermost bedroom of the haunted house, the stronger the icy sensation became.

Han Fei was still unclear about what a blood-colored item meant as he hadn't found any information about such items in his previous research on Perfect Life.

After examining the reward item, Han Fei then looked at the Free Skill Point and Free Attribute Point he'd received.

"I now have one Free Skill Point, but the problem is my abilities are cooking and acting, and neither is related to combat."

After some thought, Han Fei used the Skill Point on Acting. In this Underworld game infested with ghosts and monsters, acting might play an unexpectedly significant role, just as it had earlier with Wei Youfu.

"Player number 0000, your current Acting Level is Intermediate Level 2. Once your Acting reaches Intermediate Level 10, it will automatically advance to High-level Acting."

"It seems quite difficult to upgrade skills, but the novice task is just the most basic, so it's normal for the rewards to be average."

Before acquiring new skills, Han Fei decided to first work hard on improving his acting. After all, he wanted to hide the fact that he was alive and blend into the big family here as quickly as possible.

Without considering much, Han Fei directly added the remaining attribute points to his physical strength, which was originally just 4 – far too weak. Just now, when he tried to detain the neighbor, he almost let him get away.

As soon as he opened the anti-theft door, almost at the instant he stepped out, Han Fei felt a chill from his ring finger; it was clear that the hallway was not clean.

"I guess stepping out for a takeaway here probably involves bumping into ghosts several times, huh?"

The chill from his finger was bearable. Holding the kitchen knife, Han Fei carefully entered the hallway.

He lived on the fourth floor, and the old lady's home was on the third floor, just one level apart, but he dared not be careless.

The hallway was deadly silent, and what was bizarre was that the motion-sensitive light on the sixth floor kept turning on, even though there was no sound here at all.

Walking quietly downstairs, when Han Fei got to the midpoint between the fourth and third floor, he stopped.

Slowly squatting down, Han Fei glanced up through the gap in the stair railing and saw that the motion-sensitive light on the sixth floor was still inexplicably coming on.

"Does someone actually live there, or is it empty?"

Moving his feet, Han Fei headed toward the third floor. When he was almost there, the coolness from the ring suddenly intensified.

"What's going on?"

Banking on the ability to quit the game at any time, Han Fei didn't retreat; instead, he continued walking down, and that's when he saw that the door opposite Meng Shi's was open.

The Mirror of Eight Diagrams above the door, covered in cracks, was shattered on the ground, and many of the talisman papers on the door were torn off.

"Has Meng Shi been refusing to open her door because of the neighbors across from her?"

Embroidering courage, Han Fei stopped at Meng Shi's door front. He had not even knocked when a bone-chilling cold suddenly surged through his ring finger!

He turned around sharply, only to see a child from across the room smiling and charging towards him!

His nerves instantly tensed up. In the blink of an eye, the child had run from the deepest part of the room to the doorway. Han Fei had no time for more reaction; he immediately chose to exit the game.

A blood-red color covered the world, the neural connection was severed, and as soon as Han Fei could control his body again, he took off the gaming helmet in one swift move.

Collapsing weakly onto the bed, Han Fei's hands continued to tremble uncontrollably, "I was cautious enough, but if it weren't for that ring, I would probably have been in trouble just now. This game is really outrageous."
