Capítulo 29: She Preferred Death

 Nathan made no movement, only staring at Vanessa as though she was a corpse already. "I-I don't understand what you're saying, Mr. Li."

 "I only took you in because you saved her back then." He let out a derisive chuckle. "But then you make the mistake of harming her." This was it. Now, Vanessa was absolutely sure that Nathan was aware of the fact that she had pushed Ashley down the stairs.

 Her legs gave way, and she collapsed onto her knees, tears streaming down her face. "I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Nathan did not speak but the silence caused the woman to tremble even more. She questioned her life decisions at this moment. If only she had not tried to covet him, she wouldn't be in this situation right now. Once she had found out about the man's true feelings, she should have backed out quietly.
