Lexine's scalp went numb and her fingers froze their movement, "What?"

Her voice cracked slightly.

Her mind pictured that woman and a shiver ran down her spine. What would have happened to her if Sheea, Quira, Taevlin, and Desire were not there? She would probably be dead somewhere. The thought of that was enough to make her heart palpitate in her chest. She had not even given her mother some of the gold she had gotten from Karl. She hadn't found out the truth about her father. She could not die yet!

This had strengthened her resolve to go back home even further. Meddy raised his hand slightly, "I don't understand, why would whoever who opened the gate want to kidnap Lexine?"

"I do not understand either…" Sevin seconded.
