In the kingdom of Alba…
Avery's pov;
I wake up with some bright light hitting my face, wait bright light? Wasn't it late evening already? I slowly open my eyes and first thing I see is a butterfly pattern ceiling , I shake my head and sit up and I look around the room , it's very how do I say this? Unfamiliar where am I? When I look down at myself I realize I am wearing a long lavender dress and I have on these type of elf shoes, elf shoes really? Weird fashion choice but we don't judge.
I walk up to the window to try getting a clue of where the machine could of made me land in and when I tell you I am shocked , I really mean I am shocked . Outside is a small neighborhood that looks like the ones we see in books and old fairytales , there are people pushing wheelbarrows , cows moving freely on the street and the people are wearing old fashion clothes from the Middle Ages I presume. Where am I?
"Ethera dear , Can I come in" a feminine voice asks outside my door , what should I do now? This is weird but then again I can't act suspicious "yes come in" a lady in her late 50s enters the room , she is also wearing the type of dress I see common here with shoulder pads and her hair was in a romantic low bun that was popular in the medieval era beautiful.
I was still daydreaming when she addressed me once more "my dear are you okay? You have been looking at me strange since I entered the room. Do I need to get Heizel , perhaps you are feeling unwell?" "Oh no need , I'm feeling just fine" she smile at me and nods then proceeds "I came here to tell you that the debutante season has finally started and the etiquette classes will start this afternoon so get ready , you will be accompanied by Heizel I'll alert her at once" she skips excitedly and goes out of the room.
Debutante season? Isn't that the event where young girls of the earlier epochs would be introduced to society as adults ready for marriage? Interesting. So the vortex teleported me to an ancient era of some sort , now I just need to know which one and how I even get out of here because it was fun and all to do the experience but I don't want to tag long enough to have to do this debutante thing.
But now that I think about it , I got here and I am seemingly taking the place of this young lady but how? Is she okay though? I wonder how long this will last?
After a few hours of self questioning and analyzing of the situation another person enters the room,
"Ethera, you have to get ready , I think your mother informed you of the classes starting this afternoon for your debutante season to go well" oh so that was the mother ,I see , this lady on the other hand looks nothing more than 25 , she is very calm and composed very lady like I wonder who she is to this Ethera.
"Um excuse me who are you?" She looks at me perplexed and confused. "Come on Ethera what are you saying? I am Heizel your servant and friend . Are you okay? Your mother told me you also acted strange when she came in here.
"I am feeling quite dizzy I admit maybe I hit my head or something" I guess it's not really a lie.
"I will let you rest for a little then we shall be on our way okay? Lie down" she makes me lie down on the bed and covers me then leaves the room.
I need to find clues of where I am incase I have to stay here for longer because I can't keep on asking question this Ethera is supposed to know.
I look around for a bit and find a sort of journal with a name written in Latin spelling Ethera , yes I know Latin I took the class in high school but anyway this will maybe give me some insights , I maybe shouldn't be prying in her diary but I don't really have much of a choice and right now we are kind of one person.
The first page is an introduction, "Ethera Yuril , of the kingdom of Alba…" wait the kingdom of Alba??? I am in THE kingdom of Alba? Oh wow oh really wow . This is going to be interesting, it changes everything, maybe being here can help me make a better research essay and maybe even uncover the mysterious rumors about it. I read the diary for a few more minutes and learn that we are in the Vos dynasty which is the last peaceful dynasty recorded in the history of Alba . Wonder what happened here.
After taking my "nap" Heizel came to pick me as we went to the afternoon classes that invited all the young girls of the community as Heizel told me. A big crowd was gathered in the hall and there were many tables scattered around the room with names written on each chair , i was assigned to table number 4 where I found other girls my age looking quite nervous , Heizel was standing by the door with the other helpers and servants of the ladies, I don't quite get why we need servants in the first place but I guess liberal rights had not reached this era yet.
Back to the girls on my table , I tried to make small talk and all the conversations were about how they were scared to reach the age of marriage and Al which I mean who isn't? Even back home most girls aren't in a rush to get married but I have a feeling that here they don't have a say on when they feel ready to get married , what a pity.
"I would like a little bit of silence girls" the one I guess coordinates this whole event stood at the centre of the room addressing us with her big madame posture and aura *shivers She reminds me of middle school teachers *laughs slightly
"Miss. Yuril why don't you share with us what is so funny?" Oops
"Nothing at all , I am very sorry for my rudeness" she side eyes me and continues with her speech .
"So as you all know the debutante season has started and I think I don't have to explain what is required of you but I will still remind you briefly to make sure this goes smoothly, all young ladies going through debutante season must have impeccable conduct throughout the whole process , you must all develop your lady like personalities and manners and most importantly you must all observe chastity to preserve your purity until the right time comes. Now , we can begin the table manners class if there is no question" nobody asks a questions so start the class.
Those are quite strict rules but that are actually very ethical and good for living in society, it's not as bad as I imagined it. Minus the servant principle that is.
