"You guys be careful!"
Without further hesitation, Lorna swiftly agreed to the plan. Then she vanished into the night.
Before long, a green light illuminated the distant sky as Lorna soared away quickly.
In the air, Lorna scoured the sky for the Sentry Secret Service convoy. She didn't have the natural ability to fly, but her metal bracelets and boots allowed her to do so. She rarely used this ability because it made her an obvious target, and her control was not always perfect. But now, it was necessary. Flying high above would give her the best chance of spotting the Sentry Special Service escort convoy.
"Found it!"
Lorna's eyes lit up as she spotted several vehicles moving rapidly on the highway. Two black Hummers were positioned at the front and rear, with a closed truck in the middle. It had to be the Sentry convoy.
Lorna was about to accelerate and intercept the convoy when suddenly, a loud gunshot pierced the silent night.
Boom!
The unexpected gunshot startled Lorna, thinking that she had been detected. However, to her surprise, one of the Hummers in the convoy suddenly swerved violently, flipping over and blocking the road.
The convoy came to an abrupt halt.
"Be careful, we have enemies!"
The once silent and dark night seemed to have transformed into a monster, and the snipers lurking in the shadows made the Sentry Secret Service agents anxious, as if they were being hunted by ghosts.
The road was not particularly wide, and the overturned Hummer now blocked the path.
"Reverse and take a detour!"
The Sentry Secret Service agents quickly decided to reverse and find an alternative route.
"Anticipated that, huh? But detouring won't work!"
In the woods about 500 meters to the left of the road, Max smiled as he watched the Hummer in the back row, which was about to turn around. Adjusting his Barrett slightly, he fired directly at the tires of the Hummer that was attempting to reverse.
Boom! Boom!
The gunshots sounded almost simultaneously with the tire explosions. The Hummer came to an immediate stop.
Both roads were blocked!
Max opened a small door with a wave of his hand, picked up Barrett, and entered the different space.
Carrying the gun, Max moved swiftly towards the truck.
Inside the van, the nine Mutants being transported were handcuffed, their ankles restrained, and they wore blue glowing neck collars.
Two agents were positioned in the direction of the door: one held a gun on the Mutants to prevent any potential trouble, while the other kept an eye on the door. The Mutants were nervous, but there was a glimmer of hope in their eyes as they watched the situation outside.
Suddenly, a small door appeared in front of the agent who was guarding the Mutants. Before he could react, a sai emerged from the door and went through his heart.
The nine Mutants watched in bewilderment as this peculiar situation unfolded before them.
A door, seemingly out of thin air, appeared in front of them. To their amazement, the door gradually swung open, revealing a man standing on the other side.
"Any one wants to excape? It's only fifty thousand dollars per head!" Max said, smirking at the dumbfounded Mutants.
One Mutant promptly stepped forward, offering to enter. Others followed suit, some claiming to have no money at the moment but promising payment upon their return. The rest quickly caught on and rushed into the door, their initial confusion giving way to eagerness.
"Just remember, you won't get out of here without me opening the door. Stay close and don't wander off!" Max cautioned as he prepared to transport them. However, Lorna suddenly appeared in the distance, prompting gunfire from the Sentry Secret Service agents.
Green light emanated from Lorna as she raised her hand, halting the bullets mid-air. With a fierce wave, the bullets reversed course, striking back at the agents.
The sound of bullets striking home filled the air, effectively suppressing the agents.
"I've rescued the prisoners. Let's retreat," Max called out.
Startled, Lorna turned to see a small door slowly fading away behind her. She muttered to herself, recognizing the familiar method of escape.
"Of course, it's you!" Lorna exclaimed. Without hesitation, she turned and disappeared into the woods.
The area fell silent.
Had the Sentry Secret Service agents noticed Lorna's disappearance? After a brief moment of uncertainty, one agent cautiously ventured out but found nothing. The sniper who had been targeting them seemed to have retreated as well.
"No, this doesn't make sense. Why would they withdraw like this?"
"Look at the prisoners!"
As someone exclaimed, the truck's rear door was quickly opened.
Inside, the two agents had fainted, and the prisoners... were nowhere to be seen!
"Damn it, how is this possible? How did they manage to rescue the prisoners?"
The night air was filled with the echoing sound of frustration as the agents grappled with their inexplicable defeat.
