After the Ancient One finished projecting what Emma had requested earlier, the room fell into stunned silence, as everyone was too shocked to speak. Breaking the stillness, Emma began to talk.
She said, "As you can see, we live in a very dangerous world, one where people can destroy planets at will, travel through space at the speed of light unaided, and where war and planetary looting are commonplace."
"And do you know what's even more alarming? Earth is at the very center of this universe's destiny. It produces individuals whose powers can annihilate entire universes, like Jean, Wanda, the woman you saw roaming earlier, that man Tony Stark you observed in armor, and many more."
She sighed. "In the cycle of life, everyone faces tribulations and difficulties they must overcome. Now, imagine the kind of challenges these seemingly omnipotent individuals might encounter."
"It's like in those recent popular DC comics, for those who have read them, where every superhero faces numerous supervillains, each unfortunately almost equal in strength."
"With such conflicts occurring on Earth, you can imagine the consequences. Like when the Justice League fights Doomsday, even if they win against him, the future of Earth still looks grim."
Emma's serious tone made it clear that the situation was dire. Even the Ancient One, who had been smiling earlier, was now sighing deeply.
Everyone in the room had experienced enough supernatural events to know that Earth was far more complicated than it seemed. Yet, none of them had anticipated that things could be this tangled.
Jean, who had always questioned her exceptionally high mental powers, powers that allowed her to unintentionally hear other people's thoughts and made her so overwhelmingly strong that most feared her was especially affected.
Her abilities not only granted her a perfect memory and exceptional talent in nearly everything she attempted but also left her unable to control her immense power.
This led her to question the meaning of life itself. For example, when it came to love, she could never experience it like others.
She would always know what her lover would think, every intrusive thought, every secret they wanted to surprise her with, every dark idea they harbored. How could she truly fall in love with someone under those circumstances?
However, after realizing that there were others in the universe more powerful than herself and that Earth would need the abilities she had long rejected, Jean felt a new sense of purpose.
She didn't know why, but after accepting her powers, she seemed to find peace. Remarkably, her already monstrous mental abilities seemed to grow even further, something both Emma, the Ancient One, and Professor Xavier noticed.
Charles was deeply shocked and worried that something might be wrong with the seal he had placed on Jean. Fortunately, there didn't seem to be any issues.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have been able to interfere with Jean's mind due to her power.
However, when she had first awakened and lost consciousness, her vulnerability allowed him to fundamentally alter some of her memories and seal a portion of her powers, a decision he now regretted, considering how much Jean trusted him.
Emma, oblivious to the drama unfolding between Charles and Jean, merely sensed the increase in Jean's mental power and assumed it was related to her ongoing merging with the Phoenix Force.
After about ten seconds, Skye, who had begun to adapt to her role as an agent gathering intelligence, asked, "So you're saying there are people out there who could easily wipe out mutants, humans, and entire planets?"
Emma gave her a strange look and said, "Isn't it obvious? Let's take your power as an example. What is it?"
Although Skye didn't see how her abilities were relevant, she replied, "Vibration Manipulation."
Emma nodded. "Exactly. Your power is Vibration Manipulation. With a sturdier body, a sharper mind, and better control, you could destroy Earth easily. The same applies to Magneto with his control over magnetism."
"Unfortunately, Earthlings are born weak. Now imagine a race with naturally strong bodies and powers. Even if you or Magneto were enhanced with something like the Super Soldier Serum, you'd be far stronger, perhaps even capable of wiping out half of New York."
Though shocking, as scientists and physicists, many in the room understood that someone with full control over vibrations or magnetism could indeed raze cities.
Accepting the premise of such powerful beings, Hank asked, "Then what about Tony Stark in armor and the aliens invading New York through a portal? I don't recall anything like that happening."
He was right; such events would have been unforgettable and widely reported. To this, Emma replied with a single sentence: "It's the future."
While some may have anticipated this, it was still shocking for individuals like Banner. He asked, "The future? But that's impossible. The universe operates on the principle that every effect has a preceding cause."
"The future isn't 'real' yet; it's just a set of potential outcomes that depend on current conditions and actions. Since it doesn't exist, it can't be observed or 'seen.'"
He could accept that there were beings capable of traveling through space and destroying planets. However, the idea of someone seeing the future was harder for him to digest. If true, it would mean that everything they did was predetermined, reducing their actions to mere puppet-like motions.
Hearing this, Emma crushed his denial. "Unfortunately, what the master showed you is the future. There are people who can see the future, many of them, in fact."
"Sure, there are infinite possibilities and parallel worlds, but even those worlds have their futures 'written,' so to speak. You can alter them, but there are individuals monitoring everything, ready to erase or restart entire worlds if needed."
Emma knew her words might push some of them toward madness, especially since the people in this room were prone to overthinking. But she deemed it necessary.
She had big plans for the small team she had gathered and intended to lead them. Although the information she shared might overwhelm a normal person, no one here could be called "normal."
Of course, even if she had confidence in their ability, she said something in case some of them snapped, she said: "Don't worry, as I said earlier, there are people who are controlling the timeline; this means that there are cases when something goes wrong."
"I'm just one of those cases as I should, unfortunately, die after that mutant fight, but here I was becoming a mutant; now I think you understand that this discussion is important."
END OF THE CHAPTER
What do you think of Emma's little team? Also, for my next fanfic, who would you like to see as an MC in the Marvel world and the system or ability he has? I now have this idea: «Marvel: I have a cameraman never-die system.»
