Capítulo 256: Punishment

As Zane performed the resurrection, the wounds on the bodies of the fallen heroes rapidly healed, and the blood that had spilled flowed back into their veins.

Even Wolverine, who had been reduced to bare bones, and the superheroes who had been completely erased by the barrier, slowly reformed under the shroud of white light.

As their bodies became whole again, the once-dead superheroes suddenly opened their eyes, looking around in confusion.

The surviving superheroes, witnessing this miraculous scene, disregarded the doctors tending to their wounds and leaped off the ambulances with expressions of pure joy. They rushed to embrace their revived comrades, with Peter Parker even giving the Punisher a few kisses on the head in sheer elation.

The previously somber atmosphere over the battlefield dissolved into joyous celebration, a fitting response to victory. Unfortunately, Tony, who had fallen into a deep sleep, missed this dramatic turn of events. He would have been the happiest to see it.

After the ecstatic survivors had released their pent-up emotions and calmed down somewhat, everyone's attention turned to Zane and the Ancient One.

They were curious about what had transpired within the barrier that led to this unexpected resurrection of the fallen heroes. However, wisely, no one dared to ask, fearing they might anger Zane.

Zane, seemingly indifferent to the mortals, absentmindedly rubbed the Eye of Agamotto in his hand and casually remarked, "Was it worth it?"

The Ancient One smiled and nodded. "They are the future, while I am merely passing."

Zane looked at the Ancient One for a moment, then nodded. As he examined the Eye of Agamotto, the Ancient One suddenly said, "Mr. Zane, may I give you a word of caution?"

"What is it?" Zane asked, meeting the Ancient One's serious gaze.

"Do not attempt to control time; only time itself can wield that power."

Zane recognized the Ancient One's well-intentioned warning and smiled, nodding to show he understood. He then tossed the Eye of Agamotto into the [King's Treasury].

Zane never asked why the Ancient One chose to trade the Time Stone with him. He had his suspicions: perhaps the Ancient One foresaw countless futures where the Time Stone would end up in his possession, or maybe she believed that such a powerful artifact would only bring disaster to Earth if left there.

Regardless of the reason, the Time Stone was now in his possession, and Zane knew he had gained immensely.

Without further delay, Zane teleported back to his throne, his expression cold as he gazed into the void above. He had not forgotten the rules of his game. It was time to mete out the punishment for the losing side.

At this moment, light-years away from Earth on the Chitauri homeworld, countless Chitauri were tirelessly forging war equipment. As a vassal civilization under Thanos, the only reason the Chitauri hadn't been annihilated by him but instead brought into his fold was due to their locust-like breeding capabilities and their fearless combat style under the control of their Hive Mind. Combined, these traits made them the perfect cannon fodder.

If the Chitauri had the endless evolutionary capabilities of the Zerg from Starcraft, they might even be able to overpower Thanos. However, now their disaster had arrived!

On Earth, Zane casually summoned the Hive Mind, which had been corroded into ashes by the barrier and entered the [Realm of Dead]. Having been converted into Zane's fervent follower, the Hive Mind immediately prostrated and bowed repeatedly upon seeing Zane.

But Zane, with a cold glint in his eyes, looked at him and instantly shattered him into fragments of soul using the power of death, extracting a glimmer of spiritual light from within.

The next moment, the scene of the Chitauri homeworld was projected into the sky above Earth through this spiritual light. Countless people looked up at the celestial phenomenon.

In the projection, they saw hundreds of billions of Chitauri tirelessly embedding enormous iron plates onto giant creatures, creating bio-warfare ships similar to those that had previously ravaged Earth. This invasion force was merely a vanguard compared to the entire Chitauri civilization, which wasn't even a fraction of their total strength.

While everyone was stunned by the might of the Chitauri civilization, Zane, holding the glimmer of spiritual light extracted from the Hive Mind's soul, looked at the projection with a sinister smile.

"In the name of the God of Death, I pronounce the Chitauri civilization dead!"

The cold, apocalyptic declaration traversed light-years, descending directly into the heart of the Chitauri civilization, resonating within the souls of all Chitauri.

Immediately, a colossal figure seated on a throne of bones with a crown on its head appeared in the sky above the Chitauri homeworld. All Chitauri looked up at the great presence that filled the entire sky, but none could see its face, only glimpsing two cold gleams flickering through a thin layer of gray mist.

As the death sentence was pronounced, the godhead in the depths of Zane's soul began to spin faster than ever. The boundless divine power of death and the rules of death intertwined and resonated within the godhead.

The power of death visibly disappeared into thin air, while tendrils of unseen energy, exuding an aura of boundless death, linked through the massive projection in the sky of the Chitauri civilization, connecting to the life essence of every Chitauri.

When Zane finally grasped the life essence of the last Chitauri, his divine power was nearly depleted. Pronouncing the death sentence on an entire cosmic civilization was far more complex than dealing with tens of thousands of individuals.

If it weren't for the added power from the bone throne and the crown of the previous God of Death, Zane wouldn't have been able to execute a civilization-spanning death sentence across countless light-years.

Watching the bewildered and panicked faces of the Chitauri in the projection, a hint of excitement curved Zane's lips.

"Die!"

With that, Zane extinguished every connected life essence through the power of death. Instantly, countless Chitauri in the projection turned into wisps of ash.
