Capítulo 302: Ego's Ego

"Help me forge that item or die. Choose one."

"I'm in a hurry, I don't have time to waste words with you."

Eitri glanced at the soldiers surrounding over 300 dwarves and took a deep breath.

He nodded heavily at Thanos.

"I understand. I'll start forging the equipment for you right away."

"Good!" Thanos nodded with satisfaction.

"Lord Thanos, since I've agreed to your request, could you release them first?"

The Dwarf King pointed at the trembling dwarves, terrified by the energy guns, and spoke with hope in his eyes.

But Thanos said nothing. He just smiled at Eitri, raising his right hand again. Instantly, all the soldiers lifted their energy guns, aiming them at the dwarves' heads in the circle.

They were just waiting for their boss's signal, ready to pull the trigger without hesitation.

Seeing this, Eitri's face showed a flash of shock, and he hurriedly stepped forward, waving his hands.

"Sorry, I spoke out of turn. I'll go forge your equipment right away."

He gave a final worried glance at the dwarves surrounded by soldiers, then turned without looking back and rushed to his forge.

He knew that no amount of talk would change things now.

Besides, he wasn't exactly good with words. If he were, he wouldn't have foolishly asked what Thanos wanted with a device capable of controlling the power of the Infinity Stones.

That was practically asking to die!

Now, his only hope was that his actions could save his people from disaster.

As he turned around, a deep worry flashed through Eitri's eyes.

After all, Thanos had never said he would spare the dwarves.

What if, after Eitri made the item Thanos wanted, he still decided to kill them all?

This thought deepened the concern in the Dwarf King's eyes.

But his feet didn't falter, and he ran straight to the forge, starting to sketch out the design.

At the same time, he discreetly touched the communicator hidden on his chest...

Without any preparation, the item Thanos wanted wasn't as simple as Zane's Death Scythe from before.

That had only taken a day to forge.

This time, drawing up the designs, gathering materials, and calculating all the necessary proportions would take at least three days.

And in this short three-day window, with Asgard in chaos after Odin's fall, they wouldn't even notice anything unusual happening in the Dwarven realm.

Time passed, and Thanos' fleet maintained a tight blockade around the Dwarven realm.

Thanos himself stood beside the star forge, silently watching as the item he wanted slowly took shape under Eitri's hands.

After two days, a glove-shaped mold was finally completed.

--------------------

Meanwhile, on the other side of the universe, a mechanical planet suddenly emerged from a space jump point.

Not far from it, a planet slightly smaller than the moon flickered brilliantly in space!

On Ego's planet, Star-Lord had been living quite a carefree life for the past couple of days.

First, he and his girlfriend Gamora enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the planet, which Ego had personally created.

Then, under Ego's guidance, Star-Lord awakened his Celestial powers, fully shedding his mortal form.

In an instant, he reached a five-dimensional level, a truly extraordinary feat.

It was even faster than the power-ups a protagonist typically gains.

And he didn't have to put in any effort, face any hardships, or even train.

He simply channeled the power within him and skipped several levels, instantly achieving a five-dimensional existence.

In the blink of an eye, he transformed from an ordinary human into a being comparable to a god.

But the one more excited than Star-Lord was Ego himself.

The unexpected joy made this ancient, planet-sized life form laugh heartily for quite some time.

Who knew how many species Ego had spread his DNA across in an attempt to create a second Celestial?

Yet out of the millions of children born from these various species, not one had inherited Ego's Celestial genes.

Ego had nearly given up hope.

That is, until he heard about a human from Earth making a name for himself in the galaxy, which reignited his last flicker of hope.

He found Star-Lord and brought him back.

And to his surprise, this final gamble actually paid off.

It wasn't until now that Ego began to look at Star-Lord with genuine warmth.

No longer seeing him as just a tool, but as his equal.

For the first time in billions of years, Ego had finally created someone like himself.

After existing alone for so long, he was no longer alone!

Then, without wasting any time, Ego revealed the truth to Star-Lord.

He also used their shared bloodline connection to implant his beliefs directly into Star-Lord's soul.

In an instant, Star-Lord became lost in what seemed like an infinitely beautiful eternity.

Ego, perhaps overly excited by the birth of another Celestial in the universe or simply too confident in the power of his indoctrination, proceeded to explain everything he had been doing over the years.

Finally, he outright confessed the truth—that he was the one responsible for giving Star-Lord's mother the brain tumor.

When Ego mentioned that he had killed millions of his own children, Star-Lord, who was under the influence of Ego's beliefs, had no reaction.

When Ego said they would transcend everything and become supreme Celestials, Star-Lord hesitated for a moment and mentioned Gamora, but quickly became lost again in the perfect future Ego had crafted for him.

Until…

"To prevent your mother's love from interfering with my purpose, I did something during my third visit to Earth."

"Believe me, I was really saddened when I gave her that brain tumor." Ego's tone carried a hint of heaviness, but only a little.

His gaze turned toward Earth, as if recalling memories with Star-Lord's mother.

But in the next moment, his expression became casual again, completely discarding any tenderness in his eyes.

It was this careless remark from Ego, however, that completely shattered the remnants of Star-Lord's fading humanity.

"You… killed my mother!"

The stars that had been swirling in Star-Lord's eyes…
