Chapter 073
Peter was walking towards his house with a big smile on his face. He was returning from a date with Gwen and it was the most fun he had in a while.
Due to the whole Lizard incident, he hadn't been able to relax lately. He couldn't even sleep properly at night without waking up from nightmares, drenched in sweat.
But now that everything was over, he felt like his life was finally on the correct path.
As he reached his house, he noticed a sports car parked just outside his house. His eyes widened seeing it and he stood there for a minute to admire it.
Even the passersby and his neighbours were staring at the car from their windows.
'I wonder whose car it is.'
Peter thought and entered his house.
Walking through the hallway, he peeked inside the living room and saw his Aunt May sitting there.
"Hey, May."
"Hey. How was your date?" She asked, looking up at Peter with a smile
Unlike his Uncle who looked like he was entering his 50s, Aunt May still looked like she was in her late 30s.
"It was good. We went to the movies together. Gwen likes horror." He said, then decided to ask about the car standing outside. "There's this crazy car parked outside…"
His words stopped mid sentence as he noticed someone coming out from the kitchen. Peter's eyes became round seeing someone he had only seen in news and magazines before, standing in front of him.
"Oh, Mr. Parker."
Tony greeted him and put his hand forward for a handshake. Peter shook it but the shock on his face was never ending.
"Um… What, what are you doing here? Hey! Uh, I'm, I'm Peter."
"Tony."
"What are . . .what are you--what are you… what are you doing here?"
Peter asked, stammering with his words. They weren't coming out properly because Tony Stark was one of the people he admired the most.
"It's about time we met. You've been getting my emails, right?" Tony said, making Peter confused.
"Yeah, yeah."
"Right?"
"Regarding the…?"
As Peter wondered about what Tony was hinting at, Aunt May suddenly chipped in.
"You didn't tell me about the scholarship?"
"About the scholarship?"
"The Stark internship. We exchanged emails. I like your idea." Tony said, before the situation can go out of hand.
"Right."
Peter nodded, not understanding what was going on but still agreeing with it.
"Yeah, I approved, so now we're in business." Tony said with a smile.
"You didn't tell me anything. What's up with that? Are you keeping secrets from me now? Did your Uncle know about it?"
Aunt May asked and Peter struggled to answer.
"Why, I just, I just… just know how much you love surprises, so I thought I would wait to let you and Uncle Ben know." He turned to Tony. "Anyway, how will it work? Like the business model?"
"That's what I'm here to hash out." Tony replied.
"Okay. Hash, hash out, okay."
Peter nodded his head, still confused about what was going on. He hadn't sent any emails to anyone, so Tony acting like this was enough to make him bewildered.
On the other hand, seeing that things were getting a little out of hand, he turned to Aunt May.
"It's so hard for me to believe that you're someone's aunt." He said with his typical playboy smirk.
"Yeah, well, we come in all shapes and sizes, you know?
Aunt May smiled and Tony picked up a walnut loaf from the plate. Eating it, he muttered.
"This walnut date loaf is exceptional."
"Let me just stop you there."
Peter quickly interrupted and changed the subject, aware of Tony's playboy tendencies. He had been clicked with supermodels and actresses for years.
"Yeah?"
"Is this business, like, got money involved or whatever?" Peter asked.
"Yeah." Tony nodded.
"Yeah?"
"It's pretty well funded. Look who you're talking to" Tony smiled pointing at himself as Peter exclaimed. Turning towards Aunt May, he asked. "Can I have 5 minutes with him?"
"Sure."
After Aunt May gave her confirmation, both of them climbed the stairs to Peter's room. On the way, Peter kept wondering what was going on.
But there was a little suspicion in his mind due to something Alex had said once.
'Even if you try your best to hide your identity, someone powerful will get to know it one way or another. It would have been easier in the past but due to the internet and security cameras and stuff, it's almost impossible to hide your identity.'
Thinking that, Peter frowned as he entered his room.
* * *
The first thing that Alex saw after opening his eyes was a big room with a blood red door on the other side. There were symbols engraved on the door and a man in a hood was standing in front of it.
'Where the hell am I? I don't think this place exists in Marvel?'
He thought after the blue portal behind him disappeared.
Trying to find out what was going on, he stepped towards the man.
"Hello, What is this place?"
"This is the Tower of Eraskis, Challenger. You are standing at Level 0 and after entering this door, your challenge will start."
The man said in a clear voice that seemed to echo.
"Who are you and can you tell me more about the Tower?"
"You can call me 'Guard'. I welcome challengers to this tower. As for information about it, I can only tell that this tower is owned by Dantalian and if you manage to defeat the demon lord, you can get yourself the power of the Aether."
"Can't you tell me more?"
"That's all a challenger needs to know. You will need to defeat the ten levels to reach the top and challenge Dantalian. Touch the door to begin."
Guard said and no matter what else Alex asked, he didn't answer. Having no choice, Alex stepped towards the door.
'Let's see what lies beyond this.'
Thinking that, he put his hands on the door and a golden glow enveloped him instantly.
