Lucas stared at the sleeping figure with a sigh. He knew she was mentally and physically exhausted. He had been cold to her because he knew she wa getting attached to him which he didn't want.

She would get hurt in the end. He knew his limits, she was too good for him. She could have a better man. He was also protecting her too much, If he continued like this then she wouldn't know how to fend for herself when trouble comes. Lord Lucas knew that this wouldn't be the only attack that Magdalene would be facing. There were more to come, the bigger issues were on their way.

Word was already spreading that she was his favorite woman. It wouldn't be long before his enemies starts targeting her. He needed to be this harsh and cold to her, it was all for her own good. She needed to master her magic which was very important.
