My heart sank to my ass when Souline told me Velma had died. "W-What?" I stuttered, my eyes welling up with tears and my lips trembling.

Souline nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" I asked.

Souline let out a sigh before responding. "Alliana, I couldn't bear telling you what had happened. You've been abducted, you've been stressed out, you've been panicking for a few weeks, and you've been thinking about suicide since your cat, Oreo, died," Souline went on to explain.

I noticed my blood-stained sheet when I looked down at the mattresses. "Alliana, please accept my sincerest apology. You have no idea how hard I fought the urge to tell you. But then I saw your condition and how much you've been through, and I changed my mind," Souline said. I took a sharp sniff before returning my gaze to Souline.
