Capítulo 122: Xiao Yan's Cooking Skill
Mu Yue was startled when she heard an explosion. She quickly looks for the source and it seemed that it came from the kitchen.
"What happened? Are you alright, Xiao Yan?
"No problem! It's nothing as I just used the wrong heat and fire."
"Ok..."
Mu Yue was confused. Why would there be an explosion if it's just food that Xiao Yan was cooking? A high temperature of fire would just burn the food to charcoal.
Not much time has passed when a bright orange light came out of the windows of the kitchen. Mu Yue stood up to check what is happening but stopped when she heard Xiao Yan yelling.
"Do not come here! Everything is under control."
"Uh... s-sure."
More than an hour passed before the door opens with Xiao Yan going out, bringing a bowl. It was covered, so Mu Yue could not see nor smell what's inside. She observed Xiao Yan and found no signs of harm and sighed.
"There was an explosion in the kitchen. Then a bright light appeared. Good thing you were not hurt." Mu Yue said as Xiao Yan places the bowl on the table.
"Wait here for a while, Mu Yue. I just need to get two bowls and spoons." Xiao Yan then left and went inside the house.
Mu Yue was tempted to take a peek on what's inside the covered bowl but refrained from doing so. Xiao Yan came back and handed a bowl and spoon to Mu Yue.
"Tada! I have cooked a mashed ingredients soup." Xiao Yan said as she reveals the food inside the bowl.
Mu Yue saw a liquid food? inside the bowl. Can it even be called a soup... it looks more like a stew since it was thicker than a normal soup. She also does not see any solid chunks and what seemed to be the ingredients are now dots in size.
She first tried to smell the aroma. It was not bad and could actually be called decent. Still, she really does not want to put it on her mouth. She glanced at Xiao Yan who was smiling and decided that she must eat it as it would be rude to Xiao Yan to not do so.
"T-thank you for the food... Ahhhh" Mu Yue slowly puts a spoonful of the soup to her mouth. Some of the soup dropped off the spoon and landed on her tongue. She froze when she tasted it.
"Is it good, Mu Yue?" Xiao Yan asked while showing an expectant look.
Mu Yue quickly swallows all the soup in the spoon and nodded her head.
"Great! The whole bowl is for you. It is nutritious as well as light, enough to eat as breakfast." Xiao Yan smirked as she pushes the bowl in front of Mu Yue.
Mu Yue does not have the guts to reject the offer as she slowly finishes the food. Was the taste bad? She couldn't tell but she was certain that the tastes of the different ingredients combined to one. It was not what she liked. This was not the worst she tasted as she had plenty of experiences when she was at the orphanage in her earlier years.
Mu Yue finished eating and she lays her head on the table. Weirdly, she no longer has the strength to stand up and get a glass of water. Now the taste remains on her mouth and she has to suffer since the aftertaste was worse.
"I am impressed, you actually ate all of it. I thought you will give up halfway. Sorry, this is not how I normally cook and was meant to be a prank to you teehee." Xiao Yan said as she observes the empty bowl. She then added, "This soup is what I learned from my mother. It was meant to be filled with nutrition to the point that the taste would be lacking. Let me get a glass of water for you as I know the taste is not that good."
Xiao Yan took away the bowl with the cover, and Mu Yue's bowl and spoon. She first gave some portion to Mu Yue's bowl before pushing the other one. She thought that Mu Yue will only eat the portion and leave the other alone.
Mu Yue drank the glass of water given to her by Xiao Yan and sighed," If I knew it was a prank, I would have not finished it. I thought it would be rude to decline your offer."
"I guess I should thank you for that then. I will also eat my portion. Then we should go to the mission hall to do some tasks. Let's pick the ones we could do together."
