Multiple beasts of different sizes were coming towards their direction. They were not aiming for the two girls as they all seem to be running from something, not even bother to see what was in front of them. Some weaker trees fell after being bumped by the charging beasts.
"We have to run now!" Xiao Yan yelled as she grabs Mu Yue's hand and ran away from the beasts.
They could only go away in a straight line since the beast tide was wide and they might get caught if they went slightly sideways.
Mu Yue was startled but fortunately landed safely on the ground when Xiao Yan pulled her. They were in a tree which Xiao Yan might have forgotten because of her fear.
"What is going on, Xiao Yan?" Mu Yue asked as she follows behind.
"Beast tide. It isn't the estimated time yet so I think it's something similar to that." Xiao Yan answered. The beasts were catching up so she had her subordinates carry them both.
Then an ear-piercing roar sounded throughout the forest. Mu Yue and Xiao Yan had to cover their ears as their cultivation level was not enough to resist it. Xiao Yan's subordinates saw that the two were having a hard time so they decided to lend a hand by covering them with their protective spiritual energy.
The two girls saw a large dragon with black scales. Its eyes were blood-red as well as the lines that were visible on its body. It was a western dragon, the size of a 4 story building.
The dragon spreads its wings. Each wing was twice as large as its body. A red aura appeared in its surroundings which killed the living things near it. Some humans, beasts, plants, and even the land. It roared once more before flying away.
It was now gone but the beasts were still on a rampage. The group had to climb atop of a cliff to be able to stop and rest.
"That should be a dragon but I haven't heard of them having a black and red combination of color. The strength is also unknown to us, which means it is several times stronger to my subordinates. Luckily, we were quite far from where it appeared." Xiao Yan said.
Mu Yue was not scared when she saw the dragon. She was just amazed that a creature such as that existed.
As the group was resting, three celestials went towards where the dragon appeared. Not finding anything other than the destroyed environment, the three scanned the area and noticed Xiao Yan's group.
They went near and one of them asked, "Can someone on your group describe what happened? It seems that we were late to respond."
Xiao Yan recognized that the three were celestials. She took a badge and showed it to them.
"I am from the Phoenix Family. My group was near and saw what happened. A black dragon with red eyes and lines in its body appeared. Can I have any information you three might have that is related to what happened?"
The one who asked looks at another guy who shooked his head.
"Apologies. You might be from the Phoenix Family but there are restrictions on us. Thank you for the information you gave us but we could not tell you what we know."
"I understand. I will just ask my family about it then." Xiao Yan mumbled. She then glanced at the destroyed land and asked, "What would happen to that area?"
"It will slowly heal because of nature. However, the leftover energies might be absorbed by the beasts nearby. It can make them stronger in exchange for losing their mind."
Mu Yue heard it and thought about what happened to her when she was in a difficult fight. It was similar to what she experienced. She decided to not ask about it yet until she was alone with Xiao Yan.
The celestials left after talking to Xiao Yan for a while.
"Mu Yue, I think its time to end our hunting. It was short but something happened and its after-effects might last for a while. I don't want to take risks." Xiao Yan explained. They haven't even stayed for a week and they now have to go back.
"It's fine. We could instead study more things at school instead."
"Now that you mention it, I indeed have to make you read more books. Let's just hunt again after Liu Yang and the others arrive."
