Capítulo 13: Sympathy
At 1:00 pm, Maria and her friends started their journey to XX University. They arrived in the university at 1:30 pm. When they entered the campus , they saw students were gossiping about Eva Wood scandal. However, Maria and her friends did not show any interest in scandal matter. Basically they were indifferent towards gossip matter, only they cared about their own matter. It's not that they did not care another student. They cared about them, also help them in their needy time. But Maria and her friends never joined useless matter. First Mia and Mary went for their own classes. Because both of them's department located same building. After saying bye, Maria and Jason walked towards their department building. Once they reached their classroom, they saw Jack Martin. After seeing Maria , Jack walked in front of Maria and started to talk.
"Where are you last night, Maria? I did not see you when I came to the party?" Jack questioned Maria.
"None of your business. I can go anywhere I want. You should care more about your wife." Maria said impatiently.
"Maria, how could you talk to me like this? I nicely asked you. But you showed your arrogance. I always care for you. But you never saw my care in the past , now you started to behave rudely." Jack said with patient tone and caring voice.
" Did I tell you to care for me? Who are to me? We're not friends in the first place. As for family relation, I have no family members here in City F. So, take your care to yourself and love your wife more." Maria said with angry tone.
"Although we were lovers before, we can be friends now. I know you have some difficulties to stay Grey family. I promise you that I'll take care of you. And who said you had no relatives here in City F? I'll become your relatives. Even if Grey family did not regard you as their daughter, I'll take your full responsibility. You know my family cared family status more. That's why I agreed to be with Cindy. Otherwise we would be together." Jack said full caring and gentle voice. Any normal could fall for his trap. Actually, Jack indirectly gave Maria a hint to become his mistress. What a scum!
Hearing Jack's words, Maria could not help but sneer. Her cold face became more cold. She now understood that why she did not feel anything for Jack when Jack wooed her. Because he was similar to another scum Oscar Long and gave her reminder subconsciously to stay away from him. Then she looked coldly at Jack and replied arrogantly,
"Jack Martin, who do you think you are? You do not deserve any women let alone me. When I caught you with Cindy , I told you then ' stay far away from me'. I did not even like you in the past. Because of your family status, I had to accept your proposal. Otherwise you would have ruined my reputation. Now, I am telling you for last time that even if you become the last person of earth , I'll never be with a scum like you. Disappear from my sight now." Maria uttered those words with disgust.
" Maria , listen to me... ..."
Before Jack could say anything, Maria kicked Jack in his stomach heavily and left him there. Then she and Jason walked towards the classroom. Although Jason was with Maria all the time, he let Maria to vent her anger on Jack. Because of Jack, Maria had to face last night's humiliation. Maria's appearance's different than before. Although she was cold in the past also, she had a gentle side of her. Now, Maria's previous vicious and cold aura were back. So students felt Maria was changed totally.
As for Jack Martin, he was shocked to see new devil queen Maria. As if he knew Maria for the first time. He sat on the ground in a daze and did not get up from ground until he sneered and discussion about him and Cindy. He felt humiliated and left the Psychology department with bad look. However, his eyes showed extra glint.
Students in the psychology department knew about Maria. They also witnessed Maria's situation in their own eyes. So they knew about bastard Jack's betrayal. Thus, they never blamed Maria for any matter. On the contrary, they had huge sympathy for Maria. Because Maria never knew her own identity and a torturous family adopted her. Besides that she had to face a crazy person like Cindy and had to accept a scum's proposal due to his family status. So they were extra friendly with Maria.
Maria's cold face never reduced their enthusiasm towards her. At the same time, Maria felt warm inside her heart. Because she never felt this kind of love before. Some female students at first did not tolerate Maria because she attracted all of the attention towards her. But after some encounters, they became fan of Maria. Same went to Biochemistry, Chemistry and Biology departments. Although students first heard from Cindy that Maria seduced her brother-in-law, after some encounters they knew the whole story between Jack and Maria. They also knew that Cindy was the actual third party of Maria and Jack's relationship. Thus, they disdained Jack secretly. However, Maria's reputation was quite good in the university. She was also the genius students who would be completing two major subject within two and half years and her every year's results were very good. Cindy and Eva got jealous of Maria because of her good look, good reputation and good results. So they planned last night's incident to destroy Maria's reputation.
Unfortunately, they failed badly and their punishment were coming. Cindy wanted come here to create some drama. But her mother forbade her to go university. Cindy's mother Rosie Baker some what believed superstition matter. Another reason was that Rosie always knew her daughter never win against Maria. Although Cindy had some connection with powerful person and family , her connection was not capable like Maria. But if Cindy knew about Maria's real identity , she would go crazy completely.
