Capítulo 16: A Flip-over

Kendall's POV:

I couldn't believe I fucking won the case. I actually wasn't found guilty of the charges placed on me. I was over the moon on my verdict. The court also gave a huge compensation on my behalf. It was a new beginning for me, I guessed.

The handcuffs were taken off my hands and my assets were all returned back to me. I finally got rid of the prison wear I was forced to put on from the first day I got locked up in that nasty cell.

I was free at last. All thanks to my lawyer; Barrister Dawson. I couldn't have gone this far without him. Now, all I could think of, was to start up a new life, definitely somewhere else. I wasn't ready to take any other form of risk.

I didn't have a place to go after my trial went successful. I was pretty sure that Adrian wouldn't stand welcoming me back into his life. Definitely not when I'm prepared to come back for my rightful place in his life. I wouldn't let go that easily.

I had to make plans on leaving the City. Maybe, I could run off to a place safer. I couldn't picture living with my mom under the same roof. I wasn't even sure I was gonna ever be able to face her for the rest of my entire life. I hoped she forgave me one day for everything I'd cost her in my life.

The only place I was sure of heading to on slim chances was Mateo's resident. But before then, I would have to leave for my resident and pack all my stuffs out. The time said 3:22 PM. My mom wasn't gonna be at home by this time. Good thing I had the spare keys with me.

I flagged down a cab with my hand and got myself in. "Where am I pulling you over at, ma'am?", the driver asked.

"13 Creekstone Avenue", I answered quickly. He switched the gear and drove off.

I got a smooth ride home. I paid the driver off and kicked my ass out of the vehicle.

It was already a minute to 4 by the time I had arrived. My mom was gonna be back soon, so I had to hasten up my steps. I got the keys out of my bag and headed for the main door. I unlocked the door and walked inside.

The house was empty like no one lived there. It seemed strange to me. I had to have a quick look found the house before running to get my stuffs out. I stepped my feet into the kitchen to grab some snack from the refrigerator, maybe a box of chocolate. She always had my favorite chocolate stocked up in the house.

To my greatest surprise, the refrigerator turned out to be completely empty. Not even a grain of rice was found. I searched for other foodstuffs but I couldn't find any. All the spices were gone. The plates. The pots. The cutleries. They were all fucking gone. It was very unusual.

I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking. Could it be my mom moved out without letting me know? Was this the level she hated me? I mean, how could she do such a thing to me? She's very impossible! Karma hit so hard on me.

I didn't have much time to waste. I ran up to my room and emptied my closet. This was the same room I made millions of memories with the people I loved. Adrian, Kayla and my both parents. But now, I had lost everyone. I betrayed everyone at the end.

Tears ran down my cheeks as I packed my belongings. Each stuff reminded me of a memory or two. The black hoodie that Adrian had given to me on our first anniversary, his favorite jersey whenever we watched his best football club play, our matching outfits, and lots more.

I packed my hair dryer, body spray, makeup kit, my laptop, headphone, gym outfits and my box of jewelries. I cross checked everything to ensure I wasn't leaving something behind. I assumed that I was good to go. In everything were three boxes.

Just as I was about shutting my room door, my foot stepped against something on the marble tiles. It... it was my engagement ring. I still had it with me. Yet, adding to a huge memory of the love of my life; Adrian Garcia.

It hurts deeply that we couldn't be together after all we had been through. But one day, I'd be back for him, I promised myself strongly as I kissed the ring and placed it into my purse. I was gonna guard the ring with my life as though it were Adrian.

Finally, all the three boxes were brought downstairs by me and just the way I met the mansion, I locked it up and then, I threw the spare key into the garden. It was pointless keeping it to myself anymore. My mom decided to walk away at my worst moments, when I needed her the most.

The sky was no longer getting brighter. It seemed it was gonna rain as I felt tiny raindrops fall on my skin. The clouds seemed to have gotten darker. Luckily, I found a cab on time and got into it before the rain began to grow wild.
