"You will not mess up my plans, Maeve! All you have to do is care for the baby!" Joe's voice grew louder, his aura darkening as he used it to loom over her, a clear threat. Maeve clenched her fists, barely managing to nod as she watched him leave.

Her mind whirred with thoughts, dark and dangerous. Even if she became Luna, it was clear that Joe would never allow her to wield real power. She had been a fool to think otherwise.
