[Team one had finished the Second Stage]
[Winners: Survivors]
Kim Seojin finally came out of his daze as the sword path had disappeared. There was no thread guiding his movements.
With the thread around, he was hyper focused on following the trail. He didn't even know what was happening around him.
Now that the thread disappeared, Kim Seojin came to his senses.
He saw his sword stabbed in Lee Junho's chest.
There was a puddle of blood around Lee Junho, his clothes stained red with blood.
Kim Seojin didn't know why, but he didn't feel the same shock as before. When he first killed a person, his hands were trembling and everything felt so surreal.
This was the second time he killed someone. It was also in self defence, but he didn't feel anything.
He felt perfectly fine, as if this was something perfectly natural.
'Am I becoming insensitive to death?'
He pulled out his sword that was tainted red with blood.
"Your swordsmanship is good? Just as good as that sword."
Kim Seojin was thinking about where to clean this sword when he heard the Regressor's voice.
He turned around to look at the Regressor who was once again sitting back under that tree.
He had started paying attention to Kim Seojin who was someone that didn't belong here.
"If it's a good sword, why aren't you interested in it?"
"Who says I am not?"
"You had the opportunity to kill me. If you were interested in this sword, you could have killed me and taken it."
"It is true that I am interested in that sword, but I am more interested in you. This is the first time something has changed in this unchanging reality."
"Unchanging reality?"
Even after knowing what the Regressor meant, Kim Seojin still carried a puzzled look.
"It's nothing. You should rest. The third stage is something that will take a lot of effort to clear. Even I can't clear it easily."
"You talk as if you know about it. Is your class an Oracle or something?" Kim Seojin sarcastically asked as he cleaned his sword with Jiang Min's clothes.
Unlike him, the Regressor had killed very cleanly. There was not a single drop of blood staining the clothes.
"Sometimes, even if you know something, it becomes useless."
The Regressor lowered his head, appearing like he was tired of life.
"That is true. Sometimes, knowledge becomes a person's worst enemy."
Kim Seojin nodded.
He didn't know what the Regressor went through. But living through this same life love forty times could easily be exhausting.
There was no death for the Regressor. There was no escape from this life. He was stuck in a loop. Even if he killed himself, he was back to the start of the cycle.
The only way to possibly escape this cycle was to survive. Survive whatever killed him and sent him back to the start of this cycle.
Many teams had already finished their second stage. But there were also a few which were still taking things slow.
In total, five such teams still hadn't cleared this stage. Hence, the leaderboard wasn't shown either.
When the leaderboard was shown for the first time, Kim Seojin was at the bottom. But this time, he knew he was hoping to be at the top.
He had over a thousand points before the second stage began. And both him and Lee Taehyung had killed one person. So it was impossible for him to cover the gap.
He was quite curious what everyone's reaction was going to be after seeing the leaderboard.
Although the Regressor showed a positive outlook, it could just as easily change if the first place was taken from him.
Kim Seojin still believed that the Regressor was dangerous. But it was also true that he had helped him this time.
Although helping him was helping himself since both of them were in Survivor team, it also gave Kim Seojin a good impression of him.
"You killed Jiang Min. Do you want his sword?"
Kim Seojin searched the body of Jiang Min, trying to see if he had any treasures.
"His treasures are useless to me. You can keep them. Then again, I don't believe you need them either," the Regressor responded.
"If this world is similar to what I'm thinking about, even this useless sword could be used to trade for something useful."
"Don't tell me you want to become a garbage collector in this world." A hint of a smile appeared on the Regressor's face, but it just as quickly disappeared.
"Haven't you heard the saying? One man's garbage is another man's treasure. I just have to trade this garbage with another man's garbage which could turn out to be a treasure for me."
"That's too much overthinking. But whatever, do as you please."
The Regressor closed his eyes.
"By the way, Collector-ssi, if you're going to carry all these things, you would need the ring on the man's finger. It should be a storage ring."
"A storage ring?"
Kim Seojin looked at the ring in Lee Junho's finger.
When he last used [Insight] on Lee Junho, he hadn't seen anything in the equipment section.
'No wonder he was able to kill so many people despite such a bad class. It's because of the storage ring.'
Kim Seojin had already noticed a flaw in his Insight skill.
In the Equipment section, it only showed the things that were equipped at the time of use of this skill.
Lee Junho didn't wear that ring at that time.
'He probably kept that ring in his pocket and only used it when the stages began. So his trick was, appearing like a magician and then striking people with a sword.'
A Mage class player was supposed to be weak in close range.
Their spells were strong, but also couldn't be used repeatedly. And they took some time to activate.
This weakness was present at least in the lower levels. Hence, many people lowered their guards in presence of a Mage Class Player.
It was especially true as Lee Junho was so popular amongst players.
Kim Seojin walked to Lee Junho after robbing Jiang Min.
