Cyro couldn't help but feel nervous. His sense of smell was stronger than Alzies. Alzie didn't know this though, that he had kept secret. From what he could tell the human must of finished her cycle. Her scent was still fading getting weaker by the minute. When he heard the water splash he noticed it nearly disappeared all together. She smelled of sweet peppermint. It was an alluring scent indeed. He had originally worried how the others would react to the smell, but when he realized they couldn't smell it he felt a little better. The scent seemed familiar but he couldn't place his finger on where he had first smelt it. Alzie just patted him, grabbing his attention.
"Sorry, I know you find the idea of bringing the human here wrong."
However, that's not what he thought at all. In fact he too wanted to get to know more about her. Figure out how it is that humans have created the pictures that they did. He hadn't told Alzie of the paintings he found either. He kept that secret room too him self. It was a place he could go and find peace and escape. He was constantly looked down on and excluded because he was too light. Males were supposed to be dark brown. He was also smaller than the rest as well. However, his strength only matched Alzies. He could see and smell better, and move faster. His smaller size made it easier too sneak about as well. He knew Alzie picked him as his personal guard because it was easy for those to underestimate him. He also knew Alzie looked at him with pity. The way the human girl looked at him though. She looked at him as is her was just some random person. It was the first time anyone looked at him like that.
"It's alright, I don't mind her much." He turned from the trees to face the hut still looking down. "Do you know her name?"
"Mira. A strange name if you ask me." He kept face toward the trees and village. "I plan to study her and learn more about humans through her."
"And has she agreed to this?"
"No I haven't said anything about it to her."
He immediately jerked his head up, fixing to hound on Alzie. However, when he realized the window he faced was now open he couldn't tare his eyes away. She stood wash cloth in had washing her arm. He watched as she moved from one arm to the other. The down her pale neck across her cheat. Scrubbing both breast, before moving to her belly. He couldn't see more than that. She had brown spots not only on her face, but they covered her back and speckled her arms and chest. Even her stomach had a few spots. Most where shades of brown but there were small red ones here and there. One big one, the darkest of them all sat in the center of her back. Her black hair, wet, looked longer now as she moved it back to her back. He notice that her breast appear to have nearly invisible stripes. He couldn't breath. Were all humans this colorful. White, brown, and red. Spots and stripes. The feeling of Alzies hand hitting his shoulder jerked him from his trance. He immediately turned around , hoping he hadn't noticed him staring.
"Cyro, have you heard anything I said?" He tried to look him in the eyes, but Cyro just avoided his gaze.
"No, sorry, I was just thinking about something." He grumbled. He needed to change the subject or get out if there.
"I said I plan to study her without her knowing. If she knows it may alter how she acts."
He gripped the wood that was ment to keep them from falling off. Study her without her knowing. He understood she was the only human there was, and that she wasn't one of them. But to do something without her knowledge. She's living and breathing just like them. Except she more fragile.
"You can't study her without her knowledge. She should get a say too." He still didn't meet his gaze. He just looked at the wood he gripped in his hands.
"Come now, she's human. Don't tell me your sensitive because our people see you as an outsider."
"If you don't tell her I will."
"Tell me what?"
Her soft, sweet voice startled him. He turned and met her gaze. Those icy grey eyes were so enchanting. Her lips were pink like the water lillies he had seen not that long ago. She wore a black top that tied infront and covered her chest and belly. Her breast were now pushed together. He could feel the heat of embarrassment on his face. He couldn't help but wonder how soft they must feel compared to scales. Her waist appeared small, but it seemed that her skirt lacked in material around her backside. Showing pale long legs and an even paler bum side. He spotted a small circular mark on one side just barely visible. He looked away when he noticed she was still staring at him.
"Nothing Cyro and I were just talking about borrowing supplies from Sklai." Alzie patted his shoulder and walked toward Mira. "Please come inside, I want to make sure you'll be comfortable tonight."
"Um okay, but what about Cyro." He looked at her briefly again, surprised she'd ask about him.
"Oh he has is own hut below."
He watched as Alzie grabbed her small shoulder and guided her back in. Her black, and now curly, hair disappearing behind him. He finally let out a sigh of relief and started to climb down the rope. He needed to think, to escape. He climbed past his hut and the small flickering hut lights behind him. It was dark now, and the forest was silent. He quickly darted between trees, moving this way and that. The ruins were just up ahead. Twenty miles from the hut, in the opposite direction of where they had found her. His tail twice with the whistle of the wind and the rustling of bushes. It was more dangerous out at night, but only for those who couldn't see in the dark. He finally reached the tall tower that was half collapsed. This part was easy. Every creature in the forest avoid this place like a plague. He walked through a broken door away and climbed up broken stairways till he reached a door with the number twenty-three. He had to nudge against the wall to reach what he took as the bedroom.
The rest of the flooring was gone. Inside was a bed with a red plaid blanket and thinner grey blankets underneath. Two fluffy mini bed where at the top of the bed, also grey. In the middle of the bed was a black book. He sat down on the bed and picked up the book. His eyes could easily see the bright vibrant colors of the pictures inside. The same familiar smell filled his nose as he pulled one of the mini beds into his lap. Sweet peppermint. He froze realizing who's scent it was. Every chance he got he would come here and look through the beautiful pictures. Smelling that sweet welcoming fragrance. Not once had he ever seen a human here. It wasn't the way every human smelled. Other wise he would have never been drawn to this one room. To be sure of the scent he laid down and inhaled deeply, nose to blankets. It was her scent. How he loved the scent. How had he not immediately recognized it before was baffling to him. He got up and dug through one of the shelf and found a wooden box. Inside were colorful tunes and small brushes. He hesitates on whether or not to take them back to her. If Alzie knew he knew of this place, the consequences could be bad.
